  1. Just curious to know how many of you received Heparin (blood-thinner) shots pre & post-op?
  2. I know everyone's doctor has different post-op diets but my doc said only clear liquids for the first 10-14 days. The goal is to get 40oz in per day. I wouldn't try any pureed food or any drinks that have a milky-like substance until after a couple of weeks. Isopure drinks are considered clear liquid protein drinks, so I would stick with something like this. They aren't bad at all--try mixing them with Powerade zero if you don't like the taste. Best of luck to you!
  3. I'm looking for ideas on clear liquid Protein drinks for the first couple of weeks post-op. Doc said it has to be in whey protein isolate form. Tried Pro-stat and a couple of the protein shots and they are horrible. I kept wondering why people on the forum kept complaining about not being able to get their protein in--now I understand. I don't know how I'd get that down with bouts of post-op nausea. I just tried Protein2GO drink mix and it was waaaay better. I'm just not sure whether it's considered a clear liquid since it's sort of milky and not exaclty clear. And it's only 10g of protein in a serving. Oh, and what's the best-tasting Isopure? Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!
  4. I was worried about this too. My BMI is 33.8 and my surgery is scheduled for March 6. My doc told me your body knows when to stop losing weight. And I have to say that from what I've seen and read, most people still struggle with their final weight loss, so I'm not as concerned.
  5. Thanks for posting and best of luck to you!
  6. Has anyone else had experience with United healthcare? I was told a bmi of 35 for five consecutive years would be approved (with one comorbidity.) My bmi fell below 35 during this period, so my doctor said it would not be approved. Has anyone else had experience with being approved with this insurance company?
  7. Just trying to get a general consensus of how long you needed to recovery. Would 2 weeks be optimal?
  8. Better check with the doc on this one. Aspirin is a blood thinner and you may have to wait a certain length of time before you can start taking it again (to prevent oozing at the incision sites.) Best of luck to you!
