suzbuni got a reaction from RahRahRah in 104Lbs? You Should Be Losing That In Like 4 Months.
RahRahRah, hey threre. Hang in there. Sometimes they do things that are stupid but don't realize they are being stupid. I just make sure I have other options for food avaliable. My biggest problem was with my best friend not my husband. She kept trying to get me to eat things i wasn't suppose to talk me out of surgery. Turn out she was jealous and worried. Worried I lose all this weight and she won't. Now that I weight less than her( took me 60 pounds) she is get agitated again. She is depressed and not sure what to do with this role reversal. She had alway been lighter. Small stuff like, buying me starbucks- but switching a sugar-free skim latte for a sugar full one with whole milk. ( I gagged on first sip-it was so sweet and rich) She said I didn't realize but I gotten same coffee for years- she buys one time I buy the next. Or ordering takeout, my favorite foods at chinese resturant and with dessert, when we come over for movie night. I started just showing up with my protein shake or a bottle of water- so won't be tempted. ( sorry can't eat and drink same time). I tell her she killing me here, and she apologizes, or says, I hope this won't bother you, or offers me some.Yesturday she tell me she really need to lose weight, but can't seem to make it work. I told her I would help her and we could work together. We set up a gym schedule for fall, when kids are back in school. So hopefully we can get by this and help each other. Good luck with you husband. Hopefully he will realize how much this all means to you and him as a couple and work with you. Take care

Hair loss happens, call it an unfortunate side effect. It will grow back. Hair is protein, when you are losing large amounts of weight in the beginning or your protein intake is not up to what it should be something will suffer and unfortunately it is your hair. You do not always see this as much with lapband as you do the other WLS procedures but it does happen. I took this for about a year after surgery and started taking at about 6 months and it made a big difference that even my hair dresser noticed. I liked the chewable biotin from GNC. Zinc is another mineral that can help. My best advice is talk to your doctor and ask him for some assistance, on things to try, I strongly believe in keeping in touch with my WLS surgeon he has been a great resource for me and has helped me stay focused.

I totally get what your saying. I just recently went under 200. The feeling is amazing:) I'm really excited to hear you are off your blood pressure meds after loosing part of your weight. I was just talking to my husband last night after my weigh in at the Bariatric Clinic. My BP used to be around 160/80's and 90's, sometimes even higher at times. That is one of the main reasons I decided to have this surgery, especially after being admitted a few years back with over 200 BP reading. All I could think was I am too young to die at 40 over something I could learn to control and now as of yesterday I showed 110/72. Hopefully now I can start to get off the two BP pills I take everyday, that would be awesome. Good Luck to you.

i have a few nsv's. # 1- the other day i helped a customer in his 70's at my job, we chatted and laughed for a minute. when he left he passed my female co worker and said something to her. she came over to me a few minutes later laughing and said "That nice old man you just helped said you were quite a woman and if he was 20 yrs younger he'd go after you !" hilarious ! (Im 53 but have been told i look younger) #2 the pants i just got a few weeks ago are starting to get loose, again..........(this is getting fun, and expensive !) #3 im happily married but its still nice to have my hubby notice my weight loss and say nice things like "your butt is getting smaller !"

We've been so used to inhaling, gulping, shoveling, (storing in our cheeks) food for so long, it was an easy slip. so easy. I have to remember to take small bites even with a baby spoon. Right now I worry about planning the days meals, enough prooein, veggies, starches, the timing of the meals.. enough liquids, and then to handle the days stresses, yea, its a big juggle..
The biggest thing is that you realized your error and felt the reprocussions, and you arent likely to do that again (at least for a while) I love your posts girl!

Thanks for the positive feedback. It is funny how close I feel to all my Banded friends online here. My 40 pound lose started on Dec 4th on my preop liquid diet. I lose 20 pound prior to surgery on Dec 19th. Then the next 20 came after surgery in the last 5 weeks. It came off fast at first then almost total stopped for a couple weeks before last 4 came off. I was going to gym or walking on track at least 4 times a week til last 2 weeks. Then I just been cleaning out my house like a mad woman before nursing school starts back up this monday. I got rid of 10 bags of clothes(not all mine- kids too) and three trips to dump to clean out kids rooms. Laundry non stop. so even though I wasn't at gym, I kept moving all day. I have at least 2 protein shakes a day and/or a greek yogurt. That gives me about 45-55grams of my day's protein. I am really scared about not get all my protein in, so I have either one at breakfast and one at dinner, lunch or as a snack. I make either unjury or click in the morning. Sometimes with a bannana or strawberries blended in. I actually keep two cases of premade shakes in my car. I have muscle milk light(100 cal) and GNC lean shakes. I hardest thing before being banded was eating on the go. Running here are there for kids and getting fast food, so I have my shakes in the car and never have to worry that I am starving and need to crap so I don't go crazy. If I don't have my mornng protein shake I have an egg or baby cheese omlet. I have soup/ and small salad for lunch. I have been going out a lot the last couple weeks, since I have off and I was trying to catch up with friends. I just put the side items or 2/3 of meal in a to go box before I start. Or just order off appetizer menu. For example Thrusday I went to Japanese Hibachi for lunch with my girlfriends. I was really nervous, they serve it with a salad, which I ate and about 2 cups of fried rice and 1/2 cup of veggies. I got scallops and shrimp. I was afraid anything else would be to hard to swallow. I actually got stuck in the first two bites!! I was bummed, I think it was the veggies, to hard. I had two spoonfuls of rice- so it could have been that too. Not sure. I just sat there for about 5-10 minutes til it passed. After I then only ate the scallops and a shrimp. I packed up all the rice and veggies for my kids for dinner. Dinner I made a lot of soups, and mealballs or fish. Chicken can be ify. Can't always get it down. Steak not so easy either. I tried pasta for first time this past weekend. Just a bit or two. Mostly I just eat the meal sauce. I made fish last night. Tonight I had an egg for dinner, I went to egg farm with kids this morning and got a load of fresh eggs. So I had one for dinner. yummy fresh. So that's me. That's what I do. Good luck, don't worry if scale doesn't move for a while it likes to pause for a more dramatic effect sometimes I think. Ok I have rambled on enough. Take care. Suzie

There are actually very few people who fail the band for true medical reasons...but there are a lot who put all their effort into defeating it...only listen to positive people. The negatives are not helpful. I LOVE my band because it is why I wear a size 6 now and have figued it out to where it is actually pretty easy!

I can share a super positive experience with you! I am almost 10 months out from my surgry (april 12, 2011) and I have lost almost 130 pounds altogether! I feel absolutely fabulous!! I will be doing my monthly check in in a few days with more details.. but just know that the lap band works VERY WELL if you are dedicated to losing the weight! I currently weigh 150 pounds and I can say without a moment's hesitation that my lap band not only changed my life, but saved it! It works if you work it!!

I actually was thinking of taking a picture of the scale and I am only down a few pounds and 3 week pre-op! I have to get down to 218 by Feb. 2nd for my pre-op appointment, and I'm down to 218.1 today! So I am thrilled! I think I'll be somewhat lower than that especially after the 2 weeks of liquid protein shakes/one small meal regimen which starts on 1-25-12. Not looking forward to that! But, all these steps get me closer to my weight loss goals!

Way to go!!! I got My butt into a 16 and was shocked. I had just bought a pair of jeans 18 the week before. I scale hadn't changed but a pound or two back and forth but the 16's I bought for next month fit. They were tight at begining of last week and zipped right up by Friday morning.14 seems so far way for me- It's been forever since I own a 14. I can't wait for that day. You are awesome! What a great feeling. Keep up the great work.

Cali. From what I have read about the band 1-2 lbs a week is average, unless you have something like plication along with it. Why are you expecting to lose more?
Kristy: I understand your fustration with the doctor's instructions because they are very confusing and counter to what most people are told. I would suggest trying to meet with a nutritionist to make sure you are on the correct diet but for the most part we are told that we should be eating proteins first, followed by veggies. I would say that you might be either at the right restriction or slightly too tight if you are having many stuck episodes (try going back to chewing everything very well and see if that lessens the stuck episodes). In fact I'm surprised that your doctor is telling you what to eat, I think that they generally leave that up to the nutritionists in the practice.

Congrats..... now don't get discouraged when that weight loss evens out in the next few weeks. The next couple months are the hardest. You may get on the scale and have none to very weight loss. This is because you have little to no restriction in your band. This is when your will power will be challenged the most. I could eat most anything and a pretty good bit of it. When i realized this .... these are some of the things i did. Not saying this will happen but if it does......
I stayed away from buffets and all fast foods. Lets face it, they are two of the reasons most of us gained weight in the first place.
When I went out, i tried to order soup or if nothing appealed to me i ordered and i told the server to bring a go box when my meal was brought. I immediately packed away 75% of my food and only left what my portion should be on the table. Do not reopen the box...... Refuse the drink.... the server will look at you as if you have an alien on your face... would you like water.... you say... no thanks. You will have to get use to this. Better start from the get go. Practice taking a bite and putting your fork down... remove it from your hand. This will help you get use to eating slowly and to chew your food till it is mush in your mouth.
Put the scale (aka the Devil) in the trunk of your car..... i know this sounds crazy. But if its there you will stand on it.
Exercise..... i can't stress this enough.... i started walking and then Zumba... When i first started i couldn't do 30 min on a threadmill, and about 5 min on the elliptical. Take it slow, but move as much as you can.
Oh and muscle milk lite.... Latte..... yummy
wishing you all the success in the world....
