I was banded 6/26/2012, and i just can't seem to stay regular! I take stool softener 2 to 3 times a day. I take Fiber supplement twice a day besides eating fruits and veggies. I drink Water all day long! And still dry, hard stool is what I get, which has caused hemmroids. Not fun stuff! Sorry if tmi but wondering if any one has any tricks, advice to help? O yeah Miralax has stopped working for me as it seems everything else.

Yes they wil. The entire surgery is $9900 and they will finance at $235 per month for 5 years if you are not approved by Care Credit. Luckily I did have a hernia so my portion of the band is $5500. I'll pay $266.42 per month for 2 years. Worth every dime. My surgeon is Dr. Reilly through True Results Houston.
Good luck, DON'T GIVE UP!!

Calm down, I'm 21 days post-op. I vomitted once right after surgery, they tell you to expect to vomit maybe 1 or 2 times. Your stomach will be empty so it won't be much. They give you suppositories to combat the vomitting. No reflux or any other difficulties and I had a small fill at surgery. Some people do have complications but that doesn't mean you will. I think we all go through panic mode right before surgery I know I did, paid attention to all the horror stories and didn't look at all the success stories. You'll be fine.

The vomiting that your talking about is referred to as a PB or productive burp and is not the same as regular vomiting. It happens as the cause of user error, either by taking too big of bites and not chewing the food well enough, drinking while eating, or eating foods that expand (like breads). I still eat bread but have to take small bites and chew or else it obstructs the opening to the
stomach.
As for hair loss, it can be a reaction to general anesthesia or it can be a result of not eating enough Protein (a good way to find Protein needs is body weight x 0.3 = minimum grams of protein per day).
As for reflux, it is caused by your band having too much saline, which is referred to as being too tight. Being too right can also lead to stuck episodes, PB episodes, or someone eating slider foods (chips, Cookies, milkshakes) because they cannot eat nutritious foods. The remedy for this is to have a slight removal of saline.
Some panic is normal prior to any love changing thing, so your fear is understandable.

Just an FYI: I'm not going to be as supportive as the others.
Sounds to me like your doctor may be right? First, 20 lbs in the first few months is awesome. "Only" should not apply to 20 lbs in 2-3 months. You say you can eat whatever you want and you are always hungry? I'd need more information but you won't lose weight if you eat whatever you want?
There is a right way to eat with the band and it sounds like you weren't eating that way. I'm reading between the lines of course since there is so little to go on? Were/are you exercising?
I see many bandsters post comments here where they seem to find reasons to fail on the band. Being dissed by their doctor is a popular one. The doctor's comments to you may have been accurate, we can't know, we weren't there to hear the entire conversation. He must have said that for a reason? But it hardly sounds like a reason to quit? You're going to need to have a thicker skin if you want to succeed with WLS or any diet for that matter.
It does sound like you want to get back on the bandwagon. That's a very good start. Go back to your current doc and tell him how you feel and ask for his help. Follow his guidelines as close as you can. If you do, he won't have a reason to question your bariatric integrity. You're not a failure, yet.

tflemon67 reacted to myownrules in Medical Mutual ? Discouraged:/
I'm getting so discouraged I really want this lap band surgery I'm 23 newly engaged and want children within the next five years. I have a very supportive fiancé who has been through my ups and downs and medical issues due to being so over weight ( have been my whole life) and don't think it's fair to my future husband and children to see me die from all the medical issues that come with 400+ lbs, but my sad reality is unless my insurance pays the majority I will be unable to have the surgery I have medical mutual anyone else?

tflemon67 reacted to LJCBF in Complete Failure
For me thinking in terms of Failure around weight is natural... however, I found that moving away from that thought process (easier said than done) was helpful. I think in terms of tools... my band is one tool. My exercise and mental plan/strategy 30 seconds to Victory is another and critical. My sister has also used it and is down 180 lbs so far - I have band, see my profile. Let me know if I can help. You may find my sisters blog helpful http://www.300poundsdown.com

I will keep my head up and not be ashamed what I choose to do is an accomplishment and I should be PROUD! Thanks for this, hitting the running path tomorrow in the DAYLIGHT!!
