I'm being banded at this same location August 23rd, My doctor is Chris Reilly.

I find myself doing the exact same thing but I work extremely hard not to judge, whatever someone is eating is right for them but not right for me and my daughter. My daughter and I are both working hard to be active every day for at least 1 hour, I love to run/jog and she loves to bike. Even if I have to get my run in, come in all sweaty load the bikes up and head to the park (she's picky, prefers the park because of all the fun hills). I also work 10 hours a day so it definitely is a struggle but I'm working hard to fit it in. I was thin until I hit my 20's so I didn't have problems in school regarding weight but I know how ugly kids are so I want my daughter to be healthy and active as well. Americans have a larger struggle because food is marketed to the public with a vengence! I used to love going out to eat but lately I've tried my best to make it a once in a while treat and do more healthy cooking at home.

Couch to 5K! Awesome program, I started it in 2009, and I was able to teach myself to run, although slow I run! I've completed two Half Marathons and 4 10K's! Hoping to lose weight when I'm banded to eventually get faster. My average pace is about a 14 minute mile!

One of my main reasons for me getting this done is stop all the assumptions! Why do people think because you are heavy that you're eating 2 and 3 plates of food at a time! Pisses me off, my daughter is heavy and I'm heavy and I had a waitress at Cracker Barrel ask if we wanted diet Maple syrup, saying "no offense". I refuse to let my child be subjected to the crap the world doles out to overweight people. I'm bound and determined to address both of our weight issues. I know some people are just plain ignorant but it still gets to me.

Duly noted, I'm being banded at the same time as having a hiatal hernia repaired and I've heard the recovery is not fun!

I can't wait to hear folks say I'm losing too much weight! I haven't seen the 120's since I was 21 years old! LOL

My surgery is August 23rd but I'm going on a 7-day cruise August 5-12th. I'll have to start my pre-op diet as soon as I get off the boat. I ordered my unjury and got that last week. I tried the vanilla shake made with just milk and it wasn't bad at all. I ordered the Unflavored and the Vanilla. I'll order the chocolate Splendor and some vanilla packets this week. I believe I won't be able to have milk after surgery so I'll have to try the Unjury with just Water and see if I can tolerate it. I must admit, now I'm getting nervous but excited at the same time!

This is just the new you, if they are true friends they will accept you skinny or fat! Health just has to come first, the consequences of long-term obesity are just too great.

I just finally realized that I had dedicated the last 20 years of my life fighting fat, it was time for a more permanent solution. Time to move on, just like a bad marriage. The first day of the rest of my live begins August 23rd!

You may want to contact your doctor, it's unusual not to be put on a 10 day liquid only diet to shrink the liver for surgery. I was given the pre-op instructions and diet on my initial visit and again after I had my EDG with the surgeon. The pre-op diet and instructions are really important. I'm scheduled to have surgery on August 23 and will begin my pre-op diet the Sunday I return from a 7 day cruise. I have received my Unjury protein powders and now I need to get the last of my supplies before surgery. Looking forward to starting life anew!

I've trying to note how I eat my food and I definitely wolf or gulp down my food. I'm trying hard to begin chewing 25-30 times before swallowing but I'm not sure how long it will take for me to really develop this habit. I'm afraid after surgery I might hurt myself with this dang gulping but I'm guessing I'll only have to make that mistake once. Anyone had any experiences?? Due to have the band on August 23rd.

You lost 18 lbs WITHOUT your first fill, you're doing EXCELLENT! Don't compare yourself to your co-worker or anyone else. Everyone is different, I'm do to be banded on August 23rd and I'm not expecting much weight loss. I know my body it's stubborn as a mule but after about 2 months it will have no choice! LOL Between my working out, running and the band it'll have no choice but to behave BYE BYE fat cells! So excited!!

WooHoo Carnival Magic! My daughter and I are sailing on the Magic on August 5th to Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Cozumel. This will be our first cruise and I'll be banded 10 days after I return on August 23rd. I'm glad to hear I'll still enjoy myself next year when we're planning a cruise to the Bahamas in July 2013, I'll be about 10 months post op then. I have a double blessing my life great vacation then being banded and starting my new life! I'm truly blessed!! All Smiles!! PS, I can't wait to tast the chocolate melting cake! :P :P

My EGD revealed I had the H-Pylori bacteria which causes ulcers, Dr. Reilly prescribed PrevPac for 14 days. Ugh, I'm sorry the cure is worst than the disease stomach cramps all night. 13 more days of this! I have to have this completed by my surgery but oh my this is hard!

I have coverage through UHC but my employer excludes weight loss surgery so I'll have my band done via a hernia repair. I'm responsible for the cost of the band which is $5500 and True Results is financing this at $235 per month which includes fills. I wish I had coverage but I'm willing to do this to get healthy. Oh gosh, I'm going on a 7-day cruise on August 5th and then I'll be banded August 23rd. Lord, 5-7 lbs! LOL I'll try my best to hit the gym after the buffets!

I have no plans on disclosing my upcoming surgery to anyone but my soon to be ex-husband and only him because I need a ride to and from the surgery center, LOL. This is private decision that I made for myself and it's none of my family's or friends business unless I want it to be. I don't mind going out to eat with friends and family and eating what I can because what I eat or don't eat is none of their business as well. Don't worry about what they think and have a WONDERFUL VACATION!

These posts are great, now I know not to expect weight loss immediately after surgery, these comments will definitely help me keep calm! Thanks!!

I believe it is becausr you've not had your first fill and there is no restriction and the liquid diet weight loss is only temporary, not really for weight loss but to shrink the liver for surgery. Remember when Oprah did the Medifast diet, as soon as she began solids all the weight came right back. The weight should start coming off once you actually get your restriction. I know it's hard but be patient, it will come off.

I never even thought about the actual brand of LapBand good information to know. I'll also be checking whether or not all the other folk involved in my surgery are In Network!!

I just checked and my physician is an In-Network physician for UHC with a totally different address from True Results more than likely they will bill under your physician but definitely have them confirm this with you. You don't want any surprises.

Is your physician an In-network doctor for UHC? They may bill under the physician and not True Results. Good question though, I'm scheduled to have my band surgery on August 23rd but my hernia repair will be the only thing billed to UHC as my plan excludes weight loss surgery. Companies can choose whether or not to cover and of course my company won't cover it. I better make sure my physician is In-Network, I certainly don't want any Out of Network charges as I'm already going to be responsible for the lap band portion of the surgery.

I was wondering what the "stuck sensation" would feel like. I get panicky would it feel like choking?
