  1. I've only recently delved into the world of popcorn because of all i've heard about it....I have NOT had a problem with it. But then....I've had a care free experience. It may disagree with some. I only have one bag of 100 calorie pop. Just enough to satisfy that little urge.

    How Is "goal Weight" Determined?

My surgeon did not set a goal weight. He repeated the statistic that sleeve patients can count on losing approximately 60% of their excess weight....then he went on to say, depending on the person's motivation and effort, the body can do more than they expect. So... he did not seem eager to pigeon hole me to a number. I like that though. Anything beyond that 60% is gravy. (which I FULLY intend to go beyond...)

    Hit The 100Lb Mark!

Great job!! Welcome to the century club!!
  4. Caught a glimpse of myself in a full-length mirror at Boba Tea and did not shudder! I actually feel like I could blend into a crowd....

  5. Nothing disagrees with me at all, and I have not put anything on the "off limits forever" list. That said- if I indulge in certain foods, they have to be eaten more slowly, and obviously, smaller amounts to avoid a dumping-like effect. (rich foods) Still being in weight loss mode though, it is not always in my best interest to mess around with delicious bits, but it helps to have some tastes so I don't go crazy.

    High Sex Drive

Holy cow, I feel like an 18 year old boy has inhabited the sex drive part of my brain. It gets worse every time my husband tells me how sexy I am or a smaller size fits me, or...., if the wind blows..,, the sun shines.... Anything really. Ya.
  7. In the early months I used to get a pain behind my eyes that told me to stop eating. Nine months out now and I feel full the same way I used to, just much much MUCH sooner. You HAVE to eat slowly, because if you start wolfing something down and you haven't given it all a chance to register.... You will be in trouble. (Great pain and misery, throwing up possibly, etc)
  8. Are you quoting my post? I think so....my "almost halfway" pic was about 5 months into it. I was sleeved in February, and the second pic was in July. I've posted another on...i think it's on page 11 of this thread... 100 lbs. down which has taken 9 months. Some do 100 lbs faster than that, but I've really relaxed some of my micro managing of calories and carbs, so it slowed down, but i'm ok with that as long as I'm still losing! Which I am. I just put on a regular size 18 today! (not a "w") I started out in almost 4x or 30/32w. not too shabby.

Ya- it's got football player shoulders and a man head. weird man. weird.

    Plus Sized Mannequins. Offensive?

Eh. People thrive on being offended at SOMEthing or other. Personally, I like to see what the clothes will look like more realistically. Even "plus sized models" are smaller than my goal weight. It's like everything else. If they don't like it, they don't have to look at it.
  11. Here's my question: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 50 lbs heavier? 50 lbs lighter? Look back at your own pattern of gain, loss, or maintenance and you will be able to answer that. For me...If this option had been available when I weighed 250 instead of 350...I would have done it. I'm 5'6", so that may roughly be equivalent of what you're looking at. My two cents. That and 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee
  12. Great job! really shows in your face!

    Starting To Really Freak Out.

My surgery was in February, and I have not had one moment of trouble with anything at all. Just wanted to chime in with that because when people DO speak up, it beCAUSE they've had a complication, or complaint, discomfort, etc. You don't hear anyone randomly start a thread that says "I feel great and have the whole time, and it's only getting better!" Well....that's me!! I was super super nervous before surgery too. Now it's a distant memory. But it's a decision you have to come to on your own terms.
  14. For anyone else searching this topic- I used tigon retainers as approved by surgeon. My piercings were too new to just take them out. Tigon is a clear plastic-like tubing.
  15. HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!
  16. So, we should be thankful for all things all the time, but our thankfulness (or lack thereof) is being highlighted this week in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday. Right now, I am thankful for: Jesus, my Lord and Savior My husband (not hubby ) My children My mom Having just lost 100 pounds Sleeve Surgery Dr. Kim, my awesome surgeon The fact that I can't keep clothes in my closet that fit me New shoes that fit me for my birthday My husband's new job in Florida Being sick for a week (i got some rest) My messy house (it means i have "stuff" and a house) Piles of laundry (i have a family that wears them) Beautiful fall weather God being in control of all things. What are you thankful for?

    Mexico Complications?

One thing I always encourage people to think about when considering surgery in Mexico (btw, I am not against it, just trying to help you cover bases..): What about legal recourse? If surgeon here botches surgery, you can hold him to it legally. In Mexico, they can hang up the phone and pretend they don't know you. I'm sure they are more upstanding than that, but I'm just saying they COULD do that and you've got no leg to stand on. It's JUST something to think about...If someone knows information contrary to this, I'm sure it would be helpful to all thinking about surgery there. I hope whomever you choose, it all goes perfectly.
  18. I WANT TO SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS!!!! I'VE LOST 100 POUNDS!!!!!!! OH YAAAAAAA!!!! This will give me the courage and inspiration to lose the next 100. I'd take a picture but I've been sick for four days... maybe tomorrow!
  19. Awww (blush) Will do!
  20. Oh that's awesome!! I can't wait to get to "just fat" hahaha!
  21. I have seen a few people on here go through some pretty long, drawn out messed up complications. They, in time, did heal, recover and move on with the weight loss. Some more patience (if you have any left) will be required. Just continue being diligent, and take small, slow walks for just a few minutes each day, building time and speed little by little as you get your energy back. The exercise daily is VERY key to this whole thing. Getting enough Protein is also key for your energy. If your calories are low, then a LOT of them need to come from protein. Iggychick, Jasleeve and MeMeMEEE are a few that have been through the wringer and have come out the other side. Jasleeve may be hard to get a hold of though, but there is a mile long thread with her story. Iggychick is still getting through it, but i believe getting better. They may be of some encouragement to you.
  22. I did the same thing. And you know... if I had to do it again...I'd do the same thing. I ate until I was so bloated and disgusted with myself, that the 2 weeks of liquids and start of a life change was very very welcomed.
