KhadijahRose reacted to MKambalimath in Loosing stopped! How to get motivated
I've just passed my 1 yr mark and have only lost 55lbs. I have been stalled since 8 mos out. I started at 265, am currently 210. I have gotten back up to as much as 215, and down to 205, but it fluctuates all the time but never get lower. I joined a gym and started paying for a personal trainer in March, and though Ive lost 5" in the last 6 weeks, I have only lost another 4lbs. I have a lot going on in my life and am seriously stressed out. I KNOW thats why I have been making absolutely TERRIBLE food choices. Whats really freaking me out is that I can eat A LOT now. Its almost like I never had the surgery. I feel like an epic failure at this. One good thing, tomorrow I will weigh in for a contest at my gym. Part of the deal is, you have to go 3 times a week for 3 months to continue to be eligible, and theres a lot of money to win, lol, so I hope thats going to give me motivation. Anyway, you are not alone and I'd like to keep in touch to see how youre doing. Good luck to you!

Just to let you know, I am a hugger and since I cant physically do so I wanted to verbally send a squeeze to this forum.
I was led here by my sister who was researching information for me about the sleeve and the effects of having children after you have it..I have never left!
I got my sleeve on 4/24 and I havent looked back thanks to this forum and the tremendous wealth of information.
I have to be a sleever in secret, only telling a few people who I can trust. I have created a cover, using my pre-op diet as my new trend to see how people respond to an extreme method and socially how my friends would respond to me.
I was saddened to see how a few of my friends acted, acting as if I was too good for them. A few have created a narrative that I know will carry over when I see them again of "she stopped eating,I am so worried" to "yeah she looks good but look how she got there" it has affirmed that I made the right decision.
I have met some amazing people already and I am inspired by your journey, your struggles. Even your occasional disagreements bring me to new found awareness! Thank you for being so open and willing to share this difficult, deeply personal time with all of us.
    I appreciate you!

Hi everyone! I just realized that it was a year ago today that I booked my surgery in Tijuana with dr. Ponce de leon, so I thought I might share some before and after pictures! So far I am down 98 lbs (got to 100 almost a month ago, but ended up putting a few lbs back on, not sure how!) Things have been pretty slow over the last few months, but I feel great! I am so grateful to have met the people I've met along the way (I've got three wonderful sleeve sisters, and the most wonderful coordinator, Trish) I can't wait to see what the next year brings!
So here I am at the hospital on the morning of my surgery, May 10th 2012. 371lbs

And here I am in March, at 100 lbs lost, 271lbs. Please excuse the horrid expression on my face, it was pretty early in the morning

And a comparison shot of my face. A bit of a difference!

I still have a long way to go yet (another 50-75 lbs) but I'll get there eventually!

@Lilbearzmom your attempt at sarcasm really does not speak to the true intent of the OP topic. I am on the board for accountability and sound advice. My surgeon did not tell me everything but i did have the good sense to seek out information on my own. Congrats on the 95 lb loss.

I think it's fine to have stuff that you may like in moderation, but at least wait until you are cleared by your doctor..
Example, I am not on full solids.. Yesterday as a TREAT I had a little bit of chinese boneless spare ribs, and a 1/2 an egg roll.. I didn't come on here posting about how bad it was for me.. I KNOW it isn't the healthiest choice.. but it stayed down, didn't make me uncomfortable, and I enjoyed it.. It's not an every day meal choice..
On the other hand, if you are still on one of the post op stages, I don't feel too bad telling you it was not a smart thing to eat a bag of rolls while on liquids.. It's stupid and dangerous.. and if someone is to take offense to that, then that's not really my problem..
I'm here to help anyone who wants it.. weather it is acting as a sounding board or telling them about the experience that I went through.. I don't pretend to be a know it all, and I don't try to scold people for choices that might not be the healthiest things but are used as a treat.

I drink coffee... I drink it every day... probably 2-3 cups... That being said I also drink ALOT of Water as well so I don’t really worry about the argument between whether coffee counts as a liquid or not... I am drinking enough water to get my daily intake plus whatever I could lose in coffee and probably a little more...
I don’t worry about the added calories too much bc I don’t use sugar and I use only about 1-2 tbsp of skim milk in it...
As to this coffee debate people have I say to each his own... There will never be a definitive answer on the coffee good or coffee bad debate!

Hey there! Yes, three years on June 11th! The time has flown by, it's hard to remember what my life was like 'prior'. I feel great, healthy, some times I even feel thin. LOL It takes a long time for our heads to catch up to our little tummys!!!
I still have good restriction, depending on what I'm eating, I still can only eat 2/3 - 3/4 cup of food at a time, thank God!!! I was told at the seminar that he never wants his patients to eat more than a cup of food at a time. At three years, I think I'm at max. capacity, don't you?
I still have no real 'hunger'. I have what I call my new hunger, which is more of an emtpy feeling, something I can ignore if I choose to. I also hope that this never changes. I keep thinking that this far out, everything should stay like it is now. No hunger makes it easy to resist if I want to, whereas before, resisting did not happen often!!
It is so strange, at about 3 or 4 months out I could eat sooooo little at a time, I was only eating about 600 calories per day, but now, I need 1200 - 1300 per day to maintain. I eat off of a salad plate, but it is pretty full.....and in my "rational" mind, I know it's not a lot, but I still find myself asking my husband, "Did I eat a lot?" WEIRD!!!!!
I love this new way of life, I would do it again in a NY minute, how about you??!!!!

KhadijahRose reacted to BigDaddyJoe in 12 day stall? Help!
I had made a blog post very similar to this a while back, and someone posted the following link to help me understand what is going on: http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html
It really made a lot of sense to me, and helped me get through it. In my first month, I had a 5 day stall, and a 9 day stall, and still lost over 30 lbs. I'm now 6 weeks post-op and I've lost 45 lbs. It will come off, it has to. It just doesn't come off evenly or in a straight line. There will be periods where your body has to re-calibrate itself. The day after my 5 day stall, I lost 5 lbs overnight, and the day after the 9 day stall I lost 2 lbs overnight followed by a lb a day for 4 or 5 days after that. Just try to stay positive. I know I got a bit discouraged, I just went through major surgery and expected results overnight. But now that I look back 6 weeks later, it feels like 45 lbs DID come off overnight.

I'm so there with you. It's like I've been fat for too long for me to suddenly start thinking like a skinny person (although I don't ever think I'll be skinny but you get me..right)
One of the things I thought about was how would I relate to my friends. Some of them are fat (most are fit though) and we had our own little inside jokes, you know the ones fat chicks make about themselves, each other and every other fat person..it's gonna be so awkward when they start telling the fat chick jokes and I can't chime in anymore......lame, I know but it is a valid concern..

Just wondering when additional grams of sugar will be tolorated by my system. Right now I try to keep at no more than 5gr of sugar per food. I'm at about 7 weeks out and recall buying a wrong Protein Drink and it made me dump (literally). It had 23gr sugar per serving. Is this something that will gradually increase on its own or am I destined to live with out the occaisional inlaws cookie etc... with out worrying about destroying my and my home's plumbing.
    Thanks in advance.....
