The first time I had greek yogurt I about gagged. I'm still pre op, but I eat it every morning. Fage is still my favorite though. I do the flavored ones though. I haven't been able to do the plain.

Holy smokes. I've never had the impression that anyone was trying to make their post seem more important. We are all here to learn and share the knowledge that we have regarding any number of topics.
Personally, I find the tone of your initial post and then the above reply to Pdxman more offensive than anything else I've seen here. I've never had a conversation with him, but I've read his posts to other people and have not read anything even remotely negative. He's articulated his experience(s) or shared knowlege that he's read. Correcting someone is not bringing someone down.

I'm tentatively scheduled for surgery on the 27th as well. I don't know what my goal weight should be but I need to lose about 175 lbs. I just got my blood work back and no diabetes, cholesterol and Vitamin levels are all fine. I did find out I have sleep apnea though.
The reason I say tentative is that I don't have insurance approval back yet, but the surgeon's office has penciled me in just in case it does come back in time.

Last Thursday, I had my last appt for my medically supervised Weight loss requirement. 6 months worth. I lost a total of 27 lbs. The Insurance Coordinator sent it all into BCBS Texas.
    Now, I'm waiting.
Logically I can't see how they would deny me, except for the fact that for 2 of 5 years of weight history I didn't have a weight recorded. One of the years I was pregnant and they won't use that year. Then in 2010, I didn't go to the Doctor. I was embarrassed that I weighed over 300 lbs and didn't want to get a lecture and I wasn't sick. They can plainly see what my weight was in 2009 and what it was in 2011. It's not like I lost and gained all of it in that year.
    So I wait.
I so want to start this journey to Tif 2.0.
One thing I did find out is that my surgeon does not require a pre-op diet, but I want to do one. I'm thinking of starting next week. Does anyone have their guidelines that they could email me?

no, she doesn't have a point. What she has is a bad attitude. Perhaps her poor attitude has contributed to other attempts not working for you. Perhaps she should look in the mirror and find out what she's doing to help you. My husband was not supportive at first and I let him know that not being supportive was going to cause me to resent him later. You can't just be there for the good - you have to be there for the bad. She doesn't have to LIKE the decision, but unless she wants you to resent her, she should probably do a little research herself and GET ON BOARD. You didn't just try a diet for a day and give up and say "ok cut out my stomach, I'm bored with this" It doesn't work that way.

Ok, just got off the phone with the insurance company. She was really helpful. I have a few additional questions to find out, but didnt have the info with me, so I'll find out tomorrow at my appt. My surgeon IS covered! I am happy about that. The doctors that are doing the labs and all that are covered. I need to find out the facilities that they use to double check if those are covered. I found out the max that I will be charged, which is my deductible plus the max out of pocket. I double checked the sleeve requirements and this is what it said :
"Sleeve gastrectomy (open or laparoscopic) may be considered medically necessary as a surgical treatment option for patients with morbid obesity who meet the eligibility criteria for surgery, including lack of response to the required conservative measures."
I meet the requirements for the surgery as far as the BMI and the psych visit. Since the non medical proof I have is through different docs and programs, we will see how that goes. I also found out that it depends on how the doctors bill something on how it is exactly covered, so I will ask that as well. Now the only thing left is to get approved and find out what I need to pay upfront and what I get billed for or how all that works. Thanks so much guys! Now I feel better that I kinda get what goes on with the insurance. Helps out a ton!

That's AWESOME! I tried leaving a comment on your blog, but it wouldn't let me.
I am still doing my pre-qual requirements. I started at 319 on August 16th and have lost 27 lbs so far. I have no idea how much weight I want to lose, only that I'd like to be a size 8.
At my last weigh in at my Dr's, I lost 6 lbs. I hadn't told my 5 year old son yet, but he gave me a hug when I picked him up from school and he said "Mommy, I can give you bigger hugs now." That, my friend, is more motivating than ANYTHING else. So then I told him I had lost 6 more lbs and he said "WHOOOOHOOO, Way to go Mommy!"
Congratulations on your 1st 100 lbs. I am so very happy for you.

Tif 2.0 got a reaction from Dooter in Vsg Surgery Ahead-2/13/2012- Who Did You Tell About Your Surgery And Why? Or Why Not?
Well, I'm pretty open about my surgery I just don't tell anyone how much I weigh or how much I want to lose. I just tell them I want to get to a certain size. It doesn't matter to me whether I weigh 150 or 175 lbs as long as I'm at that size. (However, truthfully I'd LOVE to get to 130-140. That would be losing over 180 lbs total. I don't know if that's realistic, but I really want to get down to a size 8.)
As far as my family goes, my husband is supportive for the most part. My 5 year old son is VERY supportive. My extended family is very supportive because for my family eradicating diabetes is a big deal. So if this is what I need to do to keep diabetes at bay then everyone is VERY supportive.
However, I do have family members that are supportive to my face and want me to lose weight, but just not more than them.

OMG Congratulations. I actually teared up for you.
That Last sentence is EXACTLY how I feel and what I am excited about. Actually having options of where to shop where I can get good deals for not having to buy YARDS of fabric to fit me. I am still meeting requirements so I have a journey ahead, but I KNOW this feeling.

Hopefully we will both soon be on the loser's bench. My family tree is also full of diabetes, and other medical issues like hypertension and high blood pressure. I have been over 200 pounds since I was 12 years old! I used to yo-yo diet alot, but I'd always gain it back. I have faith that vsg is going to help me lose the weight and keep it off, and I am sure it will do the same for you!

Congrats Mona. I also have BCBS of Texas and I'm petrified that they won't approve me even though my BMI is 50. Do you mind me asking if you had any other co morbidities? Or anything like that.
