    Super Saturday Weigh In

Well I'm still weighing in here for Saturday, but then I'll weigh in on Monday for the Labor Day Challenge. Hopefully I'll keep myself honest over the weekend. I lost 2.6 lbs this week! Yay, I may have finally broken my 3 week stall.

    Hello Head Hunger...

I wish I had some great advice for head hunger. Some days I have NO issue at all and breeze right through the day without being tempted by the candy bowl on the front counter at work. Other days it's calling to me like it's the serpent and I'm Eve.

    Mourning Food

I'm 5 1/2 months out and I can eat most anything I want to, however, I find there are certain things that just aren't worth it. I am sad that I will never go to All You Can Eat Sushi because I am not going to pay the money for it, just to eat 3 pieces. I miss eating a big sandwich. I was someone that could go in the kitchen and make a sandwich with lots of goodness. Now, I can eat 2/3 of a 1/2 of a sandwich. I miss eating a big salad. Salads aren't really good leftovers, so more often than not I get a 1/2 size, eat the toppings and leave the lettuce. It's not as dire as it seems at first, but let's be honest, You've made 20 lbs disappear. Had you not had surgery, you would still have that 20 lbs. As enigmachik says, Do NOT compare your numbers to others. There are people on here that had surgery the same date I did and lost more in a faster time frame. You didn't put this weight on overnight, it's not going to come off overnight. Do what your supposed to and you'll be fine. The first month was the hardest for me. As soon as I could have tuna or scrambled eggs my life was much better. LOL Keep on keeping on. It does and will get better.
  5. My son notices EVERYTHING I eat and don't eat. We talk about healthy foods all the time. This is an EXACT conversation from yesterday morning. I posted it on Facebook because I was shocked. ""Mommy, I haven't even had Breakfast yet. I'm starving." "Ok, Babaganoosh, I know you're wasting away to nothing. What do you want?" "Honey Nut Cheerios." "There's 1/2 of your cinnamon roll left, do you want to finish that?" "No, that's not very healthy. Honey Nut Cheerios is healthier. I want that." "You got it."" My son's kindergarten teacher this past year and his Summer Camp/Day Care teacher this summer has noticed a change in him and jokingly told me that Junior could teach the nutrition module because everyday he points out the healthy stuff at lunch and the unhealthy stuff. She said he stopped drinking the fruit punch at lunch and gets up and gets Water. Another example is that yesterday was my niece's 14th birthday party. After her soccer game, we had brunch at a local crepe place. Junior and I shared a shrimp crepe. I ate the shrimp out of my part and he ate his 1/2 and then ate the fideo Soup. Later that day after swimming, we had pizza, chocolate cake and ice cream and I brought some string cheese and baby carrots. Yes he had pizza and we shared some cake and still left some on the plate, but he took my carrots and ate those. These instances are exactly why I say it's his journey too. I'm not saying all kids are the same, not by a long shot. But he IS watching me and the choices I make. Of course, your mileage may vary. I'm just explaining where I'm coming from.
  6. I told my 6 year old son. He has been through this journey the whole step of the way. He freaked out about surgery. He was nervous about the surgery and stayed at my in laws for 4 days. My husband called him as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia and then I called him everyday after. He asks to see my scars and he is now CHOOSING healthy foods so he does not get fat. That's not to say that he doesn't want junk food too, he is 6. LOL I will say that my son is my BIGGEST cheerleader. He doesn't know what I started at and has never asked, but every Saturday morning he asks me if I lost more weight to get healthy and no matter what I say, whether it's .4, 1, 2 or 3 lbs, his reaction is always the same, "YESSSSSS!", A high five and a big hug. Before surgery, he told me that he didn't want my big belly to go away because I was soft and comfy. He is a cuddler still. Now, he still sits on my lap while watching movies, but he recognizes that my belly isn't taking up as much room and he tells me he can give me bigger hugs. What Mom doesn't want bigger hugs? Take your kids on your journey, because it's their journey too.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

I had a milestone of sorts this week, but a lot of stress too and I still lost 1.4 lbs. YAY! I don't know if I'm going to lose 7.2 lbs over the next 2 weeks, but I'm going to try. For my milestone, I ran. I had told a friend that I was going to try to run for 10 minutes straight. The most I had ran at once was 3 minute intervals. 3 minutes running, 3 minutes walking and so on. Well, not only did I run 10 minutes, I blew past it and ran 15 minutes. It was hard, but I did it. The stress was my husband's car died as he was getting off the freeway. I don't know how we're going to afford to get it fixed. It sat 2 days in a parking lot until my husband had his day off so he could even look at it. So we're down to 1 car and I won't be able to go to the gym after work this week but I can still go on my lunch only for a shorter time. I am going to run again and I'm going to try everyday this week. I still want to try to lose this next 7.2 lbs in the next 2 weeks.

Ugh! I think I'm in a stall, although I did lose .4 of a lb. Down to 227.6. I'm really trying to lose 9 more lbs before 7/27. That will be my 6 month surgiversary and I'll be down 100 lbs. Granted 33 lbs were lost pre-op, but it still counts.
  10. Yes, yes I do. LOL That being said, I don't want to go down that road, but the few times I drank I had a really good time for very cheap. LOLOLOLOL

    Dr. Sergey Lyass

I loved Glenda at the Surgical Center and everytime I've gone back for a follow up, she's given me a huge hug. If you are having acid issues, don't be afraid to ask Dr. Lyass for a refill of the acid reducer. He prescribes Reglan (for nausea) and a prescription for acid and I took it faithfully and asked for an additional prescription and I had an acid issue exactly one time. Every once in awhile I might have an acid issue now and I take a tums. I don't know if it was because of the prescription or I was just lucky with my body. I am 5 months, 1 week out from surgery and I've never thrown up, although I have overeaten a few times and had PAIN and I did get the slimes once. That was nasty and I don't ever want a repeat of that. I had my surgery on a Friday morning and stayed home the whole next week and went back to work the week after. I probably should've stayed home another week only because I was tired. I've been a slow loser and I think I'm in another stall. (Boo!) But during the stalls is when I go down a size or two, so I'll take what I can get. LOL My husband is supportive, but there's parts that he just doesn't get and that's ok. Ultimately, it's my decision of what I eat and don't eat and it's not his fault if I decide to nibble on something I shouldn't.

I did have a drain on one of my incisions, but it was removed before I left the surgical center. I did have blood thinner shots at the surgical center, but not once I went home.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

I was hoping for a bigger loss, because I'm really wanting to be at 100 lbs lost. But it was .8 lbs loss this week and my TOM. At least I'm firmly at 9 lbs to go for my mini goal, right?

It's the size tube he uses to gauge the size of your sleeve. Alot of people on this board are 32 fr. bougie, which is a little smaller. There is a pic of the sizes, but basically it's about the diameter of a sharpie marker. I haven't had any issues with my sleeve at all, other than when it's my TOM it seems to swell and I get weird pains. Even though, Barbie says not to take advil right after surgery, I was allowed to take liquid Advil to reduce some of the inflammation. Dr. Lyass told me that in his view, he has had more success with the 40 fr bougie and less complications. That was fine with me. On Wednesday, I just passed my 5 month surgiversary and I can eat about 1/2 c. of food. I have pushed it a couple of times and I end up with a tummy in pain. But 4-6 oz of food is my norm.

Just make sure they give you his business card. He was really nice. He talks fast. I haven't been unhappy with him at all. He uses a 40 fr. bougie for the size of your sleeve. I didn't have ANY nauseau or gas pain or acid problems after surgery.

The Surgical Center gave me his business card with my prescriptions before I left in the morning. I figured if he gave me his card, I could email him. LOL Did you go through Oband?

Dr. Lyass performed my surgery in So. Nevada as well. I have had a fantastic experience with him. Post op, I emailed him a couple of times and he was very prompt in returning my emails. When I went in for my 3 month follow up, I had lost 40 lbs and so many people had lost 50+ and I thought I would get a lecture. Not once. He was pleased for me and gave me a hug.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

So last week I gained .8 lbs. This week, I lost that .8 lbs, plus another 3.2 lbs. FOUR POUNDS GONE FOREVER! I've officially lost 90.2 lbs. Less than 10 lbs to go for 100 lbs lost. I haven't really thought about that until two days ago when I was telling my friend where I was at and when I said I only have 10 lbs to go, my eyes started to well up and my throat tightened up. Who would've thought?

    Super Saturday Weigh In

I had a small gain this week. I gained .8 of a lb. Not too shabby. I did go to the gym and really went gangbusters on machines this week, so I'm thinking it might be muscle mass. Because I was really good. I'm not gonna beat myself up over it. I could just be entering another stall too. It's been 2 1/2 months since my last one.
  20. That's FANTASTIC! You are doing great! Keep on keeping on sister.

LOOK AT MY TICKER! I'm at my halfway point. I totally have tears in my eyes right now. I lost 3.2 lbs this week. I haven't had larger than a 2 lb drop in at least 8 weeks. I went from 235.2 down to 232. Three more lbs and it will be 90 lbs lost.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

Man, just once I'd like to have a bigger weekly loss than 1-2 lbs. Another 1.2 lb loss, but it is my TOM. Down to 235.2. I have 16.2 lbs until I hit my 100 lb loss. THAT makes me want to cry. LOL

    Super Saturday Weigh In

1.4 lb weight loss this week, but I ate horribly and a HUGE blister on my heel prevented me from going to the gym. However, the blister is now healed and I can get back on track. Still a loss is a loss.
  24. I was stalled within the same 2 lbs for 4 1/2 weeks. It was FRUSTRATING! Just keep doing what you're doing. I had to increase my caloric intake in order to start losing. I increased it by 100 calories and then my body didn't think I was starving anymore. Since then I've been consistently losing about 2 lbs a week give or take.
