About Me

I'm a homeschooling mother of 3 three wonderful children Ages 17,15,13. I haven't been over weight my entire life in fact I probably played a little too close to being anorexic for a lot of my high school years. Until I met my husband and his mom wouldn't let me go out with him on a date unless I ate dinner with them. So I like to say that I'm a recovering anorexic and Im very successfull!!! no. I became over weight after my third child. This time something was different it was extremely hard to get the extra weight off and when I did, the minute I went back to a normal life style of eating 1200 calories a day and exericising 2-3 times a week, I would slowly being gain weight....I have done this two or three time and finally gave up.I was an infertility patient and although I new I had PCOS, I didn't realize it was making it difficult to lose the weight. I was skinny at the time I was trying to get pregnant, so I just thought it was a condiction that was the reason I was having issues getting pregnant. Now as my daught is struggling with PCOS and her weight I have a much better understanding how it effects the body.

I had promised my self when I was 38 that I wouldn't be dealing with the weight issue when I was 40. That I would get it under controll one way or another. Well I turned 40 this year...February...and had my surgery a month later in March.----It was all about me. For the last 20 years I have made decisions based on the needs of my family....this one was all about me. My kids are going to be grown in a few years and I will be left with nothing but health issues to occupy me. So I decided that I want the old me back that hicked, camped and water skied. My husband and I are still young and I don't want the only outing we have to be a slew of doctor appointments.

I decided to have the lap band that way I could reduce my calories to 900 and live on that without feeling like I'm on a diet for the rest of my life. At this point I haven't had any fills yet, but I either already have fluid in the band, or the band itself is providing some resctriction because I already feel as if my hungar has decreased and lowering my calories has not been a huge undertaking.
