  1. at 10 weeks out, I feel pretty good. I struggle with getting all my water, it actually hurts my stomach when I drink it. I worry that I'm getting too much now and my stomach will stretch. It's crazy making. But overall I feel alot better. I have lost 50 lbs since my journey started pre-opt. Happy as can be.

46lbs Down And They Didn't Notice?

OMG. I have lost 50 lbs and the person I work with kept telling me how good I look and it's the best thing I could have done. I thank him, but my thoughts are "why is that important to you?" I need to own the compliment and move on without the negative thoughts. Alot of people tell me how good I'm looking. My best friend tells me that I shouldn't loose too much more weight. I plan on losing at least 20 more lbs. It is really feeling great to know I have come this close to my goal weight. Yeah...... Everybody enjoy your new bods, you are the ones who count. Take care and Merry Christmas.....
  4. Wow, they actually let you have food in the hospital. I got nothing. The first day was nothing orally. Boy was my mouth wanting H20. The second day was juices and I couldn't sip the cranberry. I was so hungry. I think it was stomach acid. I picked up on mashed potatoes. I focused on eating my protein first, I didn't have any kind of potato until my 8th week out. We need alot of protein sot hat is what I had to focus on because I am worried about losing my hair. Now I think protein, protein, protein and I eat very little. Your weight gain may be water weight. I know you will do it, this is not a failure. It's the real thing. Hang in there and the weight will start to fall off.
  5. I totally like the person who steps out of the box and reality checks my s..... I think that we are all individuals and when we post on a website, we are looking for honest feedback and support. This is an awesome place to find out what others are experiencing and to gather ways to avoid some pitfalls. I like what Pdxman posts. He's right to the point. When I'm with my clients, I intentually go for the core. I don't waste any time at all. I really like all the conversation here. It is down to earth.. Everyone is doing the best they can and have made a choice to take care of ourselves. MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

    I Totally Graduated!

Congrats! I'm glad to had the courage to face all your fears and walk through them. Having the surgery was a giant step and very stressful! Keep up the hard work!
  8. I eat out all the time. I hate buying a full meal but have decided to take the food home and I give it to my hubby for lunch or dinner. He likes it. I do buy things from the kids menu and have had no problems with any of the food. I have begun to wonder if I'm eating too much fat and calories. SOmetimes I get really hungry about 2 hours after eating. I'm trying to drink more water. You all are doing a great job and keep up the hard work! It is all worth it.

    A Little Discouraged

I hear you. At my office, we always have chocolate candy sitting in a dish in the waiting room. I know that if I take just one candy, I will end up taking 3. That is my past history. In my head, I can rationalize anything. I make it a point not to go near the candy dish or to even look at the candy. My family has alot of junk food here and it does bother me. Sometimes I have allowed myself to take a coupe of tortilla chips, and last night I took a whole handful. Time to talk with the family about getting rid of the junk. Also, I have started logging my food and checking how many calories I am truly eating. Wow was I surprised. Have a happy holiday and picture that piece of candy as a piece of fat! that may help. You've done a good job and keep it up. We will always have our ups and downs.
  10. You might check with your doctor before trying this. I have struggled with this for years and went to see my primary one day and the reception told me that she and her mother had tried many different medications and they still had the same problem. She said that they both both Kirkland Sleep Aide at Costco and that has really worked for them. I checked with my surgeon's office and they said that it was ok to take. I have taken it and it does work! Hope this helps, but please talk to your surgeon first.
  11. I had attended the Options class at the Orange Pavilion and was approved and referred to Dr. Leport's office in Fountain Valley. I had surgery with Dr. Kelly Francis and have had no problems. She is awesome. Good luck
  12. My docs told me that I need to take 10 minutes between each bite of food, and to chew chew chew. I asked if anyone had ever had their staples come out and the doc told me that it had never happen since she's been doing surgery. However, I have researched about the stomach stretching and numerous doctors had written that the stomach that's left can stretch out. The stomach does not have the capacity to stretch out as far as it did pre op. That it is possible to put the weight back on if we are continuously snacking. I am in agreement with this and know that I need to be aware of how much I'm eating, not eating sugar and high fat food. I want to eat healthier and feel better too. Hope this helps. Remember to always "eat small amounts" and savor what we do eat. I also started taking prilosec and found out that I am no longer hungry all the time and feel alot more comfortable. Thanks
  13. I slept really good in the hospital with my morphine but when I got home I took the prescribed vicodin and it hyped me up and I couldn't sleep for 3 nights or days. That was really frustrating. I ended up getting the Vicodin changed to Tylenol with Cod and was able to get a nights sleep. Didn't have to take any after that....

    More VSG Revelations

Everybody is on a new journey. Yes, I have difficulties with seeing the new me in the mirror. But I will be damned if I am not going to give myself credit for all the hard work I have been through. Learning to eat and trying to figure out if I'm getting enough calories, proteins and water is awfully stressful. My eyes are alot bigger than my stomach is and I'm working on patting myself on my back and moving forward. I like all the positive comments I get about my weight loss which really surprises me. I learned to say thank you very much.....LOL Keep up the hard work and indulge yourself in something pleasureable......

I Thought I Was Out Of The Woods....

I am 2 1/2 months post op and have noticed my hair is shedding some. I started taking biotin a couple of weeks ago and am now waiting to recieve my silica caps. It is really bothersome to see my hair shedding. Also read a blog about not using chemical products on our hair due to the possibility of damage. I need to dye my hair every 6 weeks otherwise My sides are gray. That will be lovely.. LOL Hang in there and do the best we can, at least we will have healthy bodies. Take care.

List of foods that you can eat when fully healed

My surgeon told me I can eat anything I want, I am 2 1/2 months Post op. They do not want me to have any sugar and the told me that rice, bread and pasta will expand in my stomach after eating it. I try to eat protein and then a little carbs, little vegetables. I am always hungry though. to the hungry monster in my stomach......Is anyone else really hungry after the sleeve?

    Trip To Red Lobster

Good job.... It is very rewarding when we make accomplishments like these.... Keep up the good work!
  19. GOSH. have you ever sat next to a person that is skinny....I notice that they order an omelette and country fries and they eat about 1/4th of the omelette and a few bites of the potatoes, and throw the rest away. They don't feel quilty about wasting food either. I think that eating a bite of pizza or 2 is not going to hurt you, in fact, you will be alot happier. My struggle right now is taking a bite and waiting 10 minutes between bites. I have only accomplished that 1 to 2 times. I'm always on the go. I eat around 5 bites of food and stop. I pretty much eat protein with some carbs, but I know that I am doing the best that I can. Enjoy and do not deprive yourself or you will want more. Take care and Merry Christmas.......

    How Many Calories/carbs/ Day?

I am 2 1/2 months post op and I can't eat much. At the most I can eat 1/2 a sandwhich without the crust. I drink a protein shake in the am and evening. I do struggle with waiting 10 minutes between each bite. I doubt that I'm getting more than 600 calories in my day.
  21. I am really having difficulty with spacine my bites by 10 minutes. Can anyone help me with this?

    Questions About Constipation

Hi, now worries, it is not harmful to not have a bowel movement for 4 days. I was really worried when I didn't have a bowel movement for almost 2 weeks. I finally went to the drug store and purchased some Miralax that didn't work for at least 2 days. Hang in there and focus on healing. If your really feeling bad then perhaps you can call your Dr's office. Enjoy your journey.......
