Just make sure someting has not happened in her world that is bothering her more than you are aware of. It may be general depression, etc.
I find it easy to attach my weight loss to people "acting differently" or "treating me differently". Sometime it IS, to be sure. Many more it is not.
For instance, I don't want to socialize anymore over long courses of food in a restaraunt. Therefore I do not hang out with people that I spent years sharing quite a bit with. Due to that, they are often out of the loop of something bothering me, etc...
Either way I am sorry over your hurt feelings. I hope you feel better soon!

I can't speek of speedier ways, I was offered medication because of a metabolism issue, btu it didn't help via regulating me, it only amped up my thermostat - speed, basically - so I declined.
Exercize - small, varied exercise will help alot, I think - and just dont fret.
I have after a long time come to peace with the fact that I am losing slowly, but the sleeve will help me stay on track, and I lose inches even when I dont lose pounds.
May I suggest you find things to keep you occupied? Painting, taking a class, or rediscover the things you lost as you gained the weight? I have took up swordsmanship again, and contact juggling, poi and hula hoops - I lose hours and build up a sweat, and the days just roll by...until the day I went into Old Navy to buy a summer slip, and had to get a 12 instead of the 14 I picked out...

    Namaste.

    Hi,
I really enjoyed reading your post. Very interesting!
With regards to fats...Dr. Atkins, who was THE low carb guru loooong before the latest craze in the last 20 years, always stressed that low fat / high carb diets were the road to obesity. Of course, everyone's body is different. For me, low carb was the my answer and my salvation 12 years ago. I lost 160 pounds on Atkins and I believe that had I been informed about it 20 years before that, I would not have had the struggle with morbid obesity that consumed my life.
I have kept the majority of those 160 pounds off, I believe, because I never went back to a high carb lifestyle. In my normal everyday life I avoid carbs. Yes, I have gained back about 60 of those 160 pounds over the last 6 years but I really attribute it to body set points, hormones and not being quite as strict with my low carb way of life. I feel like the gastric sleeve will be an additional tool for me along with my low carb philosophy.
Congratulations on your success! My surgery is the 21st and hope it will put me back on the road to losing weight.
    ~Dana

Next time do somethign really odd - like take in a floaty dog toy and keep throwing it out, and going to go get it...trust me, everyone will avoid looking at you too.
This is a random thought and has nothing to do with the neighbors across the street my senior year in college...

You should cry all you want to, and then wipe the snot off your nose and tell yourself you are doing well, and take it day by day.
Surgery for me is a really traumatic thing (long stories based mostly on me never reacting to meds they way they anticipate) - so I was really scared of not waking up, and waking up the wrong way (i woke up in the middle of a knee surgery once).
Your fears are justified, just be sure the way you react to them is reasonable to your emotions, but aimed at your goal.
So much good luck to you! God bless.

PS - please consider finding a monthly meeting somewhere in your area. They are free. It will not replace your nut or doc but gives you resources via aquaintances that you would not otherwise have.
    Keep going! wow!

Pookeyism got a reaction from sleeveInSD in Which Food Lifestyle Should I Choose?
I think your lifestyle of eating should be directed at "the most bang for your 2 oz" lol...protiens first. Really focus on the protiens. Seek them out in animal form, and do not be afraid of a small amount of fat. Avoid processed meats once you can. brown turkey meat has slightly higher fat than white, chicken with a little evoo, bison over cow, etc...look to alternate forms of getting in your veggies (I said look, you decide) - I have found jucing and soups that are cold -veggie medlies, etc. are excellent for me. I use it to help supplement my fluids through the day, leaving meals for protien.
I do suggest avoiding carbs in the forms of breads and crackers and dumplings, etc. They just do not pack enough nutritional punch. Eventually maybe barley or oameal in the morning or teffa (am I saying it right??).
If you are referring to the paleo diet in reference to the caveman diet, i call it bunk! If you really want to know what is best for you - it takes a lot of real knowledge - get away from the books promoting diets - read the anatomy texts, the biochem references, the articles posted as studies and papers...alot of knowledge will go a long way (no i did not mean a little, I meant a lot). Some basics to keep in mind with food, and I am just mentioning a few, please feel free to add to the list:
Allergies - food allergies!!! this affects soooo much, even very dangerous inflamation you may not even realize is going on inside of your body - that feeling in your sinuses? You get that elsewhere too when you expose yourself to a daily onslaught of food you are allergic too.
Medications - some medications need to be taken with food or without, avoiding certain foods or types of food, naturally raise or lower blood pressure or affect glucose levels - which you may need to counter with timing your food, food choices (avoiding sodium if you take a med that already is a potential to raise blood pressure, etc - fiber and additional good oil in diet if prone to constipation. Probiotic foods if you have been recently exposed to antibiotics.
Do a blood panel every 3 months to begin with - and pay attention to what that says about your food needs...platelets going down? You may need more red meats, or beans and lentils, etc...or perhaps you need to avoid donating blood for a little while?
Like I said sooo much to consider. I say this only if you are really considering adopting a "lifestyle" food choice...there is not a need for that, in my opinion.
Good luck. if you do choose one please let us know and how it worked!

I have a good boss but I have been in a position with another boss that told me I couldn't have a "smoke break" (i wanted the same 5 minutes people were getting to smoke to walk a quick pace around the building) because I didn't smoke. I took it to HR and won. He tried to have me let go for "performance" after that - after I got a 8 on a review scale of 8. Nope and I pushed it to the point they went through the people he let go or recommended be let go and he was demoted two months later.

Yup, people go "what do you mean they remove a part of your stomach?"
Your friends are probably in a situation where they are dealing with alot of it too. It might be that you are hearing the same thing over and over, but it is different people. I doubt all of your friends are present to hear every conversation.
It must be frustrating. My Mom passed away just after my surgery, and I went home and had to tell a few more people than I had intended to immediately, and I got alot of questions, even in that situation. Not by the people who didn't know my Mom well, and not by people just being crude - but people who wanted to reassure themselves I was OK.
Many of us have already been the caregivers of the groups we find ourselves in. We are often the peacekeepers, the 'git er done's, the motivators, the picture takers, the event planners, the logistics, etc...Now we are admitting to ourselves we are not OK, we have flaws - big ones - and this can make our friends really lost and scared.
But, yes, frustrating as all heck.

People can do things without meaning to, but when someone brings you cupcakes knowing what they do, then yes you have to ask some questions - it sounds very passive aggressive to me.
The main thing is to be assertive - I recently had an aquaintance throw away a dozen cupcakes her hubby brought in and he said "why did you do that?!" and she said "because I told you I would". he had bringing "treats" in for himself - not the two or three cupcakes he would have ate, and not putting them somewhere she would not need to come across - but a dozen or more, and on the counter near her foods. So she stepped up and threw them out - opened the box and dumped them into the trash.
We can't compromise on ourselves, and we cannot allow others to do so either. Nope. Nada. shhhh. don't argue.
    Good luck.

Pookeyism got a reaction from Lyra in Emotional Eating, Thy Name Is Lyra
I have done several exercises geared to acknowleding my emotional eating.
I think the biggest step is affirmation of your emotional eating habits, then ownership of your choices and no matter what avoid the overeaters anon that tells you to say crap like " I am helpless". You aren't helpless.
Another thing is to take a stress management class, and learn how to deal with stress BEFORE it becomes emotional, and then emotional eating.
Good luck Sweetie! It's hard - make sure you have a grip on it BEFORE surgery - WLS will not fix this - and you can find yourself dropped into the heart of stress eating with no notice (my Mom passed away unexpectedly a week post op and I had to fly from Houston TX to Appalachian Mts. VA to take care of everything.)
If talking will help you are so very welcome to message me. I am not an expert, I am just offering to lend an ear.
