Bremartus reacted to lifebegins2012 in Pre Op Diet Not Going Well
I opted for calorie counting on my 2 week pre op diet. I did 1,000-1,200cals per day. On my final day my calories were spent on lovely food including chocolate. My final meal was a small macDonalds cheeseburger ( which took me over my cal limit a little bit). I lost 9lb in total but I did a huge amount of cleaning/exercising to help get me there

I can truly relate... i had one shrimp scampi on Mothers day and I felt terrible about it... but not going to let it keep me from reaching my goal... remember we are not perfect...stay strong

I agree...I wasn't perfect, and I only dropped 5 pounds pre-op...and the surgery went just fine. Do your best and don't beat yourself up. If we were able to be perfect, we wouldn't need the band to help us!

The pre-op diet is to shrink your liver to make surgery easier. If you have cheated too badly and not shrunk your liver then the surgeon may cancel the surgery or even get started but not be able to fit your band.
If you have lost some weight you may be ok.

you'll be fine. they wont cancel your surgery. My wife slipped on the liquid diet during her pre-op two week diet and her surgery went fine.

I forget what I ate, but I cheated two days before my surgery and was fine. You'll be fine, just try to control the food intake for a while. Soon enough you'll be eating it again, in smaller portions of course.
Good Luck!

As long as you have truly cut back on your carbs you should be fine. We all know this is hard but it is an important part of the journey, it decreases your complications during surgery.

Dont let yourself get HANGRY. lol.
Make sure to eat a little bit even if you aren't hungry. If you get in to the habit of this now, it will be much easier to avoid it when you are back on solids.
Being starved makes it really hard to eat an appropriate portion!
GOOD LUCK!

Bremartus reacted to lageniafaye in Liquid Diet
I was on a liquie diet two weeks before my surgery and let me tell you that was tuff. I was true to it though, but I believe I went through withdrawls. After I had my surgery it was a lot better. Just hang in there and it will get better. Its all in the brain.

Bremartus reacted to lageniafaye in What To Eat
This is what I eat. These are some examples oatmeal, cream of wheat, an egg w/wheat toast, or a protien smoothie. I eat somthing different every day. For lunchyou could have a tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, lunch meat and cheese with a little mayo or a protien smoothie. Dinner is always hard for me, so I have some of the same. The protien smoothies are really good. I get the vanilla powered kind. I get any fruit I might want at the time and freeze it. when I am ready for my smoothie, I use fat free milk, protien powder and frozen fruit, put it in the blender along with some sweetner and blend it up. Yum. You might look up on the internet for a reicpe for no sugar chocolate smothies. Hope that helps, goodluck to you

I think my wake up call was when I told someone recently I had WLS and they looked at me like "yeah, ok, sure" I realized that it's not going to do the work for me, it's a tool to help but I have to work with it too.
Good luck with the weight loss so far, can't wait to reach my goals, I know this will be my year!
And there is always a seat for you in my wagon! LOL

Bremartus reacted to Short and Chunky in Back On The Wagon
Can I get a seat on your wagon? I need to find my motivation as I too have had a eating good time lately. I have not gained, but I have not lost much either....1-2 pounds a month and that is just pitiful. No one to blame but me (and that box of cookies I ate in Dec. - the entire box).
I'm down almost 80 lbs since 7/7/11 - need to find that burning inside me that kept me on the right track and working out. Can't stop now - too close to the goal line. I can't give up !!!
