This has been a long process for me. I feel like I've been on a roller coaster ride. I always had to work hard at my weight loss and it seem like the number just whip me. January 17th, I decide with my Dr. encouragement to look into the Lap Band procedure. I research a lot of forums and blogs. Ask a lot of friends who had it done. They all gave positive feed back. I attend one of the seminars and I made up my mind then. This is a tool that can help me. During the month May I got my evaluation done from the surgeon, dietitians, therapist. All my paper work was sent in cigna June7th.
1st denial came June 14th, I was so disappoint. I need six months of supervise dieting. Which I thought was crazy. I've been working with my PCP since 2009 trying to lose the weight. Surgeon office and St. Mary staff, was great. They sent all my info to Lap-Band Appeals Programand. Kelley@obesitylaw.com. Kelley and Walter were "GREAT"!! They work with me hands on and they didnt give up on me. I had my PCP forward my monthly chart notes to them every month.
2 denial came and I felt stronger because I had great people working on my side. During the conference call with Cigna appeal committee, Walter@obesitylaw.com , was very pleasant. He spoke on my behave, then he had me speak. I was glad because I don't think I could have done it alone. Believe it or not Cigna denied me. On Nov 1, 2011, Kelley@obesitylaw.com sent me an email, stating that Imedecs IRO report approve my surgery!! I shouted and tears was pouring.One thing that stuck out to me in the report was my PCP documented my weight loss since 2009. I dont understand why they want you to jump thru hoops.
So now I just have to schedule a date and keep y'all posted.
