DebiC got a reaction from luckyknickers57 in Who Are You?
I am 56 years old and in relationship limbo-Married, but we haven't lived together for 8 years. I have stayed married for the health insurance-but that will change this year.
I had 5 children. 2 boys-3 girls ranging in age from 21-39. My youngest son was killed a year ago. I have 4 granddaughters.
I did work for about 20 years as a Tax Specialist, counseling people on their tax situations and preparing their taxes. I loved it-but computers took away most clientele. It was seasonal work and I stopped to go to school full time in 2006.
I graduated from college 2 years ago with a degree in Social Work. I haven't even looked for a job. At my weight I would never even think of applying for one-too much risk. It was hard enough to go to school. Couldn't fit in those stupid desk/chairs. It's a long walk from the parking lot to the classroom. I'm surprised I was able to finish.
After graduating I basically gave up on life. I had no energy, no stamina, no passions for anything. I was just sitting around waiting to die-hoping to die. I couldn't see a future. My health began failing rapidly and I just didn't care.
I had refused to consider WLS for years-but when I read about the sleeve that changed.
Having to lose 250+ lbs is a lot different from having to lose 100 lbs. I am so proud of those of you who took this step before you got to the place I am. My life would have been soooo different had I changed it around when I "only" had 100 lbs to lose.
I have a new lease on life now. A future I'm actually getting excited about. Other than my divorce I can't wait to see what 2012 brings!

I've been wondering where the 50's are also? We need to keep this topic going. Don't let those 40's and 60's show us up!!
I'll be 57 this March. I live in Utah. I just got on disability for my weight in November (the same month I got sleeved!)
so I don't work. I just graduated from college in 2009 with a Bachelors in Social Work.
I have 5 kids (had-1 was killed a year ago when he was hit by someone who was texting) and 4 granddaughters.
I have a husband in name only-we have been separated for 8 years (married 38). His employer has great insurance so it's easier this way.
I have had a great time with my sleeve, No pain, no problems that I don't cause myself. I have lost 70+ lbs in 3 months, my goal is to hit 100 at my 5 month anniversary.
    How about you?????

DebiC got a reaction from KristenLee in Lasagna Cupcakes!
Made these for dinner tonight- 1 was more than enough for me (plus salad). The other adults in my family each ate 2. We all voted this is a definite do again!!!! Portion controlled.
    Lasagna Cupcakes
2 cup marinara sauce (I just used 1 jar)
3/4 pound ground beef or turkey
    24 wonton wrappers
    8 ounces shredded mozzarella
    3 ounces Parmesan cheese
    4 ounces Ricotta cheese
    (optional) basil for garnish
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray muffin tin (12) with cooking spray.
Brown beef and season with salt and pepper. Drain. Add sauce. Mix.
Begin with a wonton wrapper and press it into the bottom of each muffin tin.
Spread with a small spoonful of Ricotta cheese.
Top with a little meat sauce then some parmesan and mozzarella.
Use around 2 teaspoons of all the ingredients depending on your personal preference.
    Repeat layers ending with cheese.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until edges are brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. To remove use a knife to loosen the edges then pop each lasagna out. Garnish with basil (if desired) and serve.
