  1. I had my first appointment with the surgeon yesterday. I went very well. I have to go to my PCM on November 19th for the labs and get referrals for the Phychologist, Pulmonolgy, and Cardiology. I am so happy and hope that I can get the appointments in and done sooner rather than later. I go to my first support group meeting Saturday, I have to attend two. I'm so glad that the ball is rolling!!

Men are usually happy that you get naked for them at all. Try not to worry. We always see ourselves worse than what we really are. Good Luck and he sounds like a nice guy.

    My secret reason!!

There are several reasons I want to get banded and lose weight. Mainly it's so I can feel better and not be in pain anymore. But I finally admitted to my husband a secret reason I want to lose weight. It's silly and I felt dumb telling him but he laughed and encouraged me. I love that man!! My secret reason: I want to be able to dress up as a solid gold dancer for Halloween next year!! Anyone else want to share!?!
  7. Sending Prayers to everyone that has upcoming surgeries and for quick recoveries. I am just starting the process and hope I will be able to have surgery sooner rather than later but I am scared but know it is something I have to do if I want to live.

    Okay how bad am I?

It's a little twisted, but I think everyone has a little bit of twisty-ness in them. Maybe she has no will power (I can empathize) or just if she is just overweight doesn't think she has a problem. Maybe just switch the roles, and think how you would feel. BTW, congratulations on your weightloss so far. You are more than half way to your goal!! I am planning on bringing little goody bags for my co-workers on Halloween but just on that day.

  12. Good Luck on your journey B! I hope to have my surgery by the end of this year or beginning of next. There are so many things I am looking foreward to being able to do. I want to wear a cute bathing suit next summer for the first time since high school. I want to be able to go up the flight of stairs at work without getting winded. I want to dress like a solid gold dancer on halloween (silly I know), I want to actually enjoy to go clothes shopping. I want to run the Disney half marathon. And I want to feel better most of all. Keep posting on your journey. I can't wait to Celebrate your victories!

I feel bad keeping my surgery private

I haven't told many people and it's not that I am keeping it secret, I just don't feel it's anyones business. I believe its on a need to know basis. I will tell my boss once I get my surgury date but other folks probably not. If someone asks, I will be honest and tell them. Just because I tell some one, it is not an invitation to give me their opinion. If I want it, I will ask for it. I've been very forutnate with the few that I have told. They all have been supportive and caring.
  14. I am hoping to get my surgery by the end of December or beginning of January. I went to the seminar October 9 and completed the package. According to the call I made to my insurance company, I don't have to do any monitored diet, so that is a big plus!! I have to attend 2 support group meetings, and get the phys eval. But I think that's it. Oh and no preop diet either. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  15. I went to my PCP today and she was wonderful! She submitted the referral to the surgeon so I can start the process with the surgeons office. I am so excited. The ball has finally started rolling!!

    Referral from PCP

I got my referral from Tricare, but it had another surgeon's office listed than what I asked for so I have to go to another seminar. I'm not sure why Tricare changed who I requested, but it's all good because I researched the surgeon and he is one of the best in the country. I go to the seminar tomorrow with my hubby and hopefully I will be able to get the appointment with the doctor soon afterward. Has anyone else experienced their insurance company changing who they requested? Just curious.

    My Heart is Broken

Dear Band Family, My sweet dog Taco passed away this past Friday and I am having a hard time dealing with it. She wasn't just a dog to me, she was my four legged baby and I miss her terribly. My heart hurts so much. She was 5 years, 9 months, and 11 days old. All I do is cry, and I am so depressed. Ice cream has been my best friend. I think I'm hoping it will numb me inside. I just feel at a loss. Thank you for letting me get this out. This is her.
  20. Hello all I just went to the seminar yesterday with my hubby, and beforehand was convinced I wanted the Lapband, but now I am leaning more toward the bypass. I have Tricare Prime and will be calling my PCP tomorrow to make an appointment so I can get the referral for the bypass. I am hoping it will go smoothly and I can get surgery by the end of the year or beginning of the new year. Looking forward to making new friends and get all the information possible about the bypass.
  21. I've pretty much decided on the bypass. I've read too many posts of people having problems with the band and a lot of band to bypass revisions. I am so excited to begin the process.

    Sad day

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet girl on the 13th and it was unbearable. She was only 5 years old and was the love of my life. She had a surgery that her little body just wasn't able to handle and she was in a lot of pain and I had to let her go. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I miss her everyday. I had a dream and my sweet girl came to me and told me to get a new furbaby to help me heal. I recently got a new furbaby and my heart is healing.
  23. I have terrible Migraines and my Asthma is not controlled. I think my Asthma has mostly to do with my weight and possibly the headaches. Has anyone that had the bypass done also suffer from these and saw resolution after your surgery? I am really hoping that once I have surgery, these issues will start clearing up as well as my sleep apnea, depression, and painful joints. Thank you
