    Anybody south of atlanta

I live South of Atlanta, in Peachtree City. I am going to be having surgery in Marietta at Wellstar. I am hoping for a January or February date. Finishing up my clearances.

    Grieving food?

I am a coke-aholic. I am trying to cut it out but am having such a hard time. I am hoping once I have surgery I won't crave it. Was anyone else a soda addict and did thos cravings go away after surgery. I know once I have the surgery, no matter how much I crave, I will not give in but I just hope it's easier to fight.

    Working and waiting

I have Tricare Prime south and my surgeon's office said I have to get three months of MD supervised diet on top of all the other clearances. When I called Tricare, they said it was not required. Oh well. It shouldn't be a problem because I went in on October, November and am trying to get in for December so the forms can be completed. My PCM has submited the letter of support, and I have completed my lab work, chest xray, ultrasound of my gallblader, cardiology, and pulmonology. I have an appointment with Gastro on January 6th and my Phsych appointment on the 9th. Hopefully I will get surgery in January or February.

    Update with Photos!

Wow!! You look fabulous. You look so happy! Congratulations.
  5. I went to my PCP on October 1 for the referral and had my firt vist witht he surgeon on the 5th of November. On the 19th of Novemeber I went back to my PCP for the referrals to the phsychologist, pulmonologist, gastroenterologist, cardiologist, lab work, ultrasound, and xrays. I contacted the surgeons office to make sure they have received the records completed so far and was told yesterday that my insurance requires 3 months consecutive monthly MD Supervised Diet. WHAT!!! Fortunately they sent a form and I can use my October and November appointments and just have to get a December appointment and it should be fine. I've emailed my doctor's office to try to get in and get the form completed for my previous appointments. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping to have surgery by the end of January or early February, which would be about 4-5 months from begiining to end. I will never complain about waiting since many have waitied so much longer. Good luck to everyone!!
  6. Good Luck and praying for a quick recovery!!

    February Surgeries

I started my process in September but had to restart in October because my insurance (Tricare) gave me a referral to a different surgeon than the one I originally selected. I met with the surgeon on the 5th of November and I am currently going through ALL the clearances. I have completed the lab work, chest xray, and ultrasound of my gallbladder (which showed gallbaldder disease). I went to the cardiologist last week and he said my ekg looked great, but he still wanted to do an echo stress test which is this wednesday. I go to the pulmonologist tomorrow and the gastroenterologist the 6th of January and the phsychologist on the 9th of January. I am hoping that all my clearances will be completed and to my surgeons office by mid January and I can get my surgery in early February. I am so ready to start my new life. Good luck to everyone!!

    Gall Bladder

I am currently Pre-Op and one of the things I had to do was get an ultrasound of my gallbladder. My PCM office called and let me know I have gallbladder disease, so I am assuming that my surgeon will remove it when he does the RNY. So glad that this was a requirement because I would hate to have to have another surgery down the line. I am guessing that an ultrasound is not always required preop for some places? I hope you feel better soon.
  9. Good Morning Friends, I have started the clearance process and have already gotten my chest xray, lab work, and ultrasound of my gall bladder. I am hoping to have surgery in late January or early February and trying to get all my clearance done. Have cardiology and pulmonology appointments next week and hopefully I can get an appointment with the psychologist soon. The soonest I could get in with the gastroenterologist was january 6, but that should be the last clearance I will need. Well I got a call from my PCM office with the results of the ultrasound and was told that I have gall baldder disease. I have no idea what that means. Will this hinder my RNY surgery?

    Advice For A Youngin

I have been very fortunate. My hubby is very supportive and my mom, although worried, knows it is the best for me. They have both seen the medical issues I have suffered and want me to feel better. I've also done tons of research and have been forthcoming with the risks and the changes to expect once I have the surgery. I haven't told too many folks outside of my family, but the few I have told have been nothing but supportive. I'm not neccessarily keeping it secret, it's just a need to know basis. And I don't think most people need to know. As long as you know what is best for you, your family will follow suit. If not, there is no lack of support on this site. Good luck.

    19 To Go

I'm starting at 230!! I really hate that number!! My nutritionist said a goal of 150 is good for me, but my personal goal is 125. I will be happy at 150 though. Shoot, I'll be happy to be below 200 at this point!! Congratulations on your success. You will lose that 19 pounds!! Good luck dear!!

    I Got My Date!

So very happy for you! Hopefully I will be joining you with a January date, but it's still a waiting game for me.
  14. I go to my PCM tomorrow for my labs and referrals to the Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastro, and Psych. Hopefully I can get appointments sooner rather than later. I am hoping for a January surgery date. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thank you for asking.
  15. You are doing great UK!! Keep up the great work!!
  16. Lot's of fluids and rest!! You should be fine! Good Luck!

    Time To Introduce Myself

Congratulations and Good Luck!! Keep us posted. There are so many awesome people in this forum. It really is like a family that understands what you are going through. I am 5' 2.5" and weigh between 230 and 226 on any given day. I also hate looking at myself in the mirror and feel so embarrased that I got this big. I even asked my hubby of 19 years if he still found me desirable since I gained 100 pounds during the course of our marriage. I was so scared to hear the answer, but he reminded me why I love him so much. He said he loves me and I am as desirable as ever because he knows the person I am. Such a great guy!! I was hoping to get surgery before the end of the year, but I still have to go through all my clearances. I go to my PCM on the 19th for the referrals and hopefully I can get in sooner rather than later. January/February is probably more realistic. As long as I can get it before my 40th birthday.
  20. First, Congratulations on your progress. Way to go!! Now, I beleive if someone loves you, they love you good and bad and will never demean or make you feel lesser. I think you have answered your own question. You have goals and desires and unfortuantely your boyfriend is content where he is. I think you are delaying the inevitiable, even though you love him, you will resent him for holding you back. You are young and have so much living to do. Maybe you going after your dreams will motivate your man to realize he has to get off his butt or risk losing you but you have to do you. Good luck!

    It's Oh So Quiet ...

All I saw was lapband and I though it was because I had initially started in that group. I went to settings and was able to select only bypass view and unchecked the lapband posts so I don't see it anymore. I miss the old setup but hopefully once I updated my settings it will go back to where I can see just my bypass pals.
  25. I have Tricare Prime, my hubby is active duty. This is actually one time that they are great. When I called, they said I didn't need to have 3-6 months monitored diet, which was a relief. No mention of preop diet but at my first appointment, my doctor and nut want me to not gain any weight and if I lose a little even better. My nut wants me to start putting into practice seven things like eating my protien first, no drinking with meals, chewing chewing chewing. Making small steps each day to get ready.
