I Can Suddenly Eat More
Smoggy replied to Bigdogkc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved 2 July and yesterday discovered that I'm eating a little more at times - from a quarter of a cup to a half a cup. First thing in the morning I can barely eat a thing and later sleevie "relaxes" especially if my food is warm or as the previous poster notes, I have had a hot drink. I agree and I think the swelling has gone right down. -
I was given Lanzor as a PPI to take at home, I have been taking one every morning since then and I've noticed I have a week of my capsules left. The nurse at my surgeons said if I need more I can get them OTC. I am wondering if a month out is too soon to stop these, and how long I can expect to take them. I'd love to hear what other PPIs people are on/ have been on and how long out they stopped them.

My Advice To All Newly Post-Op Sleevers...
Smoggy replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks for the tutorial website- it should prove useful for me when I'm cleared to do weights which my doc usually does between 2 and 3 months out.I can't stretch to a gym membership so I'll be doing a weights routine at home. I am 3.5 weeks out and was cleared to submerge a week ago so I have started swimming 30 minutes a day which I love. I plan to add 5 minutes a week until I'm up to an hour. I believe it is good for several muscle groups and great for cardio. -
I am sending all of you July 25th sleevers love and light and there are spaces on the losers bench just waiting for you. xox

Is Keeping The Secret Possible?
Smoggy replied to Nikki613's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am quite a private person and a lot of the communities I move in are full of rather judgmental and gossipy people. I told no-one when I had other medical procedures and this is no different. A few people close to me know and that is what I feel comfortable with. I have made this decision for private reasons and not to become an advert or advocate for VSG. I respect those that do, but that is their personal choice- it is not mine. I will be traveling back to my home town for a vacation soon and since I am on mushies it may prove tricky to explain why I don't want to catch up over dinner and a bottle of wine like I usually do. However I will probably say I am dieting ( everyone is used to me doing that!) and would rather meet over tea. I will be staying with my Godmother who knows and is a huge support, but she is the only one back home who does. My personal life is just that and I defend everyone's right to decide who and how to tell people so that this already difficult process sits well in their own unique and individual situations. -
Shower & Solid Food After Surgery
Smoggy replied to MonicaR's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put waterproof dressings on my incisions and showered as soon as I was home. Hang in there with the liquids, it is pretty boring but it is really important not to place stress on the staple line. Good luck! -

Anyone Recieved Plastic Surgery In Mexico?
Smoggy replied to ValerieSJackson's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Anyone have any knowledge of ballpark Mexican prices for plastics such as lower body lift and arm lifts etc? -
Try swimming as an alternative. If the soles of your feet hurt like they are on fire when you first get out of bed in the morning it is likely plantar fasciitis. I have had bouts of it and wouldn't wish it on anyone, weight loss helps immensely as does trying to take it easy and stay off your feet until your soles heal up a while. My GP has tried me on various meds but they are mostly palliative and it is WL that really helps. Go and see your doctor. There are also various exercises that may help ( they do for some but didn't for me) . The first 30 lbs I took off made all the difference.

I am three weeks out and was cleared to submerge recently. I've been swimming (breaststroke) every day since for 30 minutes a day and loving it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I burn about 500 calories every time I swim and it is great for all sorts of muscles especially the dreaded batwings. I am not a gym person AT ALL but have occasionally been into jogging (couch to 5k) however here in the Middle East it is BLINDINGLY hot right now so I am thrilled I have been given the all clear to use a nearby pool at a friends apartment who is away for the summer. I am liking it so much I may even join a gym club somewhere in time, so I can use the pool. I plan to add 5 minutes a week to my swim until I reach an hour. Can't believe I just typed that, but I am. Goodness, is there a chance I may become an exercise junkie? LOL

Double cream is thick, heavy cream, but you could substitute low fat cream too.

2 red (or ordinary if you can't find any) onions sliced Oil for frying. Peanut oil is the most low-carb option. 100g Feta cheese, crumbled. 12 eggs. tsp of fresh thyme leaves 120ml double cream 120ml water Preheat the oven to 190 deg C - gas mark 5 ans oil a 12- cup muffin tray Fry the onion in a little oil until soft, and divide the onion, cheese and thryme evenly between the muffin cups. Whisk together the eggs, cream and water and pour eveny nto cups, over the cheese and onion mixture. Bake for 30 minutes on the top shelf until golden.Allow to cool slightly before removing from the tray. These are from "Neris and India's Idiot-proof diet cookbook" and I've cooked them many times. They don't last long! You can add smoked salmon, substitute different cheeses, add meats like pieces of good sausage meat (with no carby filler) etc. They are great to stick in a lunchbox.

If you google it, gas mark 5 is 375 degF. I meant to say "and oil" (as in grease, or butter the tin) but my iPad is tricky and typos abound.

Any Celebrity Sleevers That You Know Of?
Smoggy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Something struck me today, I don't recall seeing any celebrities coming forward (or being "outed" LOL) as sleevers. Several have admitted to having the band or bypass but no VSGers that I know of .... Anyone know of any?
