My weight did not shoot up after taking it to lose 128 lbs. It rose gradually because I had to stop exercise. But getting vsg stopped all such meds.

It worked for me. Lost and kept off 100 plus lbs. But when started to regain after several years had vsg surgery.

I resemble that remark "not a perfect world" or anything else. I restarted the fitness pal etc. Will see where that goes.

I cited the artice to 2Anne. My cardio thinks the wt l8ss,on biggest looser was faster than we lost after surgery.
I disagree. I think both are the same relatve rate of loss.
What do u all think? Yes, i csnt lose unless i severely restrict caloric intake. I started higher than most so probably reached that 'fighting plateau " sooner than thise who had less to lose.

Outsideinside...i trult see baby carrots as cheating. I kinda hate them, right now.
But that brings me back to what i was talking about originally. I cannot seem to learn "radical acceptance " on any plane...not just food. When im in the clutches of whatever demon is wrestling at that moment: i am aware of that struggle, i try to name the demon instead of denying it. I am aware that im hungry because of that thought, i drink something,, i walk the dog (when in better control) i count collors to distract me,.i tell myself my thoughts will soon change...etc etc etc and then i grab food. "Just sit with it" has to be the hardest instruction i've ever been advised. (Oh, yeah, there's breathing involved, too)

We ALL wanted to lose weight. We ALL did lose a lot of it when we started . We ALL really are discouraged and dismayed to gain it after all of the efforts we put into it. The point is that many of us made the life stlye changes...working out 3 to 5 days a week was not something i did while i was gaining weight. Cutting out all simple carbs when my diet was mostly carbs is another life stlye change i made. The ONE life style change that i cannot keep permanent is not binge eating. The truth is we cannot deal with that because it isn't a factor in the way we live. It's something physical that's going on with us. Its not a weakness on our part. Deprivation is not something we can do 24/7 for the rest of our lives.
    That's what i believe.

These arent mistakes. They are normal "testing the waters" to see what really happens if ....u want to define yourself after surgery. I still havent touched any simple carbs...but would it be a mistake if i did? I dont think so. My surgery was 12/2011.

I respectfully disagree with this old assessment of obesity. I am committed to exploring the lastest tx and while i berate myself for the binge eating behaviors, still, and castigate myself for "slacking off" and gaining 10 lbs so i realize i am a product of that school of thought.
My cardiologist said he is not opposed to me turning over every stone to find a livable solution to b.e.d. before he insists on drugs, again. So i feel empowered. And i have, as i did before vsg in 2011, a new hope that even at my advanced age and with all the physical 'crap' that's finding me now (2 knee fractures in one year) i may still have a shot at living the life that i would not allow myself before i had the surgery.
Good luck to all of us!

I did not expect it to kick in either after 4 years. None of us expect failure. U are correct: everyone will not have the same experience! I HOPE not.

Right! If I knuckle down amd attend every bite I can hope to lose weight but I cant or dont want to have that on my mind constantly. I want to live with the sleeve and not have the sleeve become my life. Thats whats making me disgruntled and grumbly. Im trying like nuts to get back on a 64 oz Water gig. That really does take uo some slack. Before, when I said I eat cheese and nuts well I also try to steer to veggies first. I 'found spirulini and use it with zucchini but it lost novelty value in a couple weeks. I romanced dried kale and that lost novelty value soon after I spent the dough on a 9 shelf hunk. I dunno what I want exactly...maybe the same magic the sleeve came with initially. I think for all that agonizing and worry and blather the honeymoon should've lasted longer. I feel shortchanged. B8t im glad to have a grump fest. Thanks for listening!

I can completely relate to this. I was sleeved September 11th, 2014. I was 381 the day of surgery and at my lowest reached 293 lbs at about 10 months out. Previous to surgery I was 395 lbs so to me I felt proud in the fact that I had lost 102 lbs. In the past 6 months I have gained 17 lbs. I am back up to 310 lbs which I told myself I would never let happen. Every day seems to be the same story of me telling myself that I would get back on track that this will be the day and that day has come and gone time and time again. It is very frustrating.

"immutable factors that lead to over-eating".
VSGANN therein lies the rub....your description is apt..those factors are immutable. These factors permeat our behaviors. Our beh IS changeable up to these factors. So we are doomed to be in this disappointing overweight struggle because as much as stress and trauma chip away at us, we can't conquer the immutable. We are not looking to change lead into gold. We are seeking that special formula that will permit matter (fat cells) to be destroyed. Any alchemists in this group?
[Just tongue in cheek, Ann. I should change my Quest to windmills. Provides exercise and distraction and could be more interesting to watch.]

But the moment my scale moves up i feel like i failed. I need to work that idea out of my head. I feel ugly. I cant look at myself. I spent all the years before surgery not looking. I just was astounded to realize i look pretty good. Now i cant stand to see my body or face.
