good luck on your journey! I just got back from TJ and saw the "towers" that you'll be staying at. I also considered Dr.Pompa and did tons of research on her. You are in good hands....especially if you're going with wlf. They're a really good support to have.

Got the "official" date! Plane tickets booked, and hotel for the first night down there. I don't think I want to spend 3 nights in the hospital....even though it's free. Excited, nervous, and a little bit scared.....but I've been waiting for what feels like forever to get up the nerve to book the surgery. CAN'T WAIT!!!

Back home and so happy to be here! Doing much better today. I've been finding that warm tea feels really good and doesn't make me bloated or give me heart burn. All i can say is that i'm so happy to be home, even though there's snow on the ground.....can't wait to crack open a can of chicken broth tomorrow and stay in my pjs and sip away!!!!

I'm just focusing on getting my clear fluids in right now... I had some warm tea today and feel much better now that I'm rehydrated. Try sipping on some gatorade too.

Just a quick update... had my surgery in the evening of Nov. 3rd. I don't really remember a whole lot, other than switching beds a few times before getting into the operating room. I woke up in my room, and fell back asleep for a few more hours...i think...then woke up to painful gas and naseous. They gave me some meds for pain and naseous and I slept again for the rest of the night. I've been very tired since the surgery and still have bouts of naseous. I have gotten sick a few times, and that was kind of scary.....but I'm ready to go home. The after care has been good, and I've met with Dr Kelly a few times since the surgery. I'm pretty tired right now but I'll post more later. Heading home tommorrow

I also went through Christi and Dr. Kelly was my surgeon.

Good Luck Brittany...you'll be in good hands. I had my surgery on November 3rd... recovery has been a bit harder for me than the other gals down here. Dr. Kelly and staff have been really good, and I have no complaints! Keep us posted on your progess!

I'm going alone too. It's fairly common to go on your own from most of the posts I've read. They have the drivers, and co-ordinators that will look after you. You should only be there for about 4 days so that's not so bad.

Going to Dr Ramos Kelly next week....I'm really hoping that I'll have some time to go shopping, as long as my recovery goes ok. Is there anywhere close to the Lucerne hotel that is safe to go? I'd also like to go to a pharmacy and I'm wondering if theres a pharamacy close to hotel too. Any tips on where to go and where to avoid?

I'm wondering what I should use post op, Tylenol or Advil?

Congrats Angi! Exciting! There's tons to know.... LOL. Surf the forum here, theres info on everything you will need before and after surgery. I also check out a few of the other forums on the web as well. Where are you going and who is your surgeon?

Hey BrittanyMy husband is also skeptical and does not like the thought of the VSG since it's permanent. Get on You tube and show him some of the videos on there. There's some people that have done video journals of their VSG journey. A really good one is gastricsleevereview... I think that's the name of the gal that posted her videos. Anyway, I'm sure you've probably watched them too, but try not to stress about it, because the more you stress, the more he'll stress about it. I've actually quit bringing it up with my husband, because I think it was more me that was stressing than him. Hope to see you there in a few weeks!

I have a low bmi of 31. I'm going in for VSG on November 3rd with Dr. Kelly in Mexico. Do your research and do what you feel is best. I'm very short, and have gained and lost the same 50 pounds with every diet out there. I researched it for a year and all the surgeons out there. Only you will know if the surgery is right for you. Everything is all lined up now, but the waiting is killing me! I've been researching this for over a year and can't wait!! I've been going through the forums and making sure that I have everything that I need....

LOL... I ALSO have TONS of Ideal Protein shakes and soups left over. I'll be using them after the surgery. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the two boxes of "smart cookies" I have in my pantry!
