    HELP

What did your doctor recommend? I was eating approx 2 - 4 oz of food (depended on the thickness of the food). I think I ate 3 times a day with 2 Snacks (it has been so long since I was at that stage). Mushy foods are foods that you can mush to applesauce consistency with a fork. Scrambled eggs, black Beans, hot Cereal (cream of wheat), mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, tuna fish with mayo, yoghurt, soft cheese, soft poached fish. And get in all your clear and full liquids. Try to contact your doctor and see what he/she recommends as the different types of foods and how much you should be eating. Make sure you get your Water in as well.

Did you keep it a secret??

Did not tell a soul. Well except for my personal doctor and she was very supportive, and all of you my loving sleeve family. I did however tell my immediate family within a week of returning from Mexico what I had done. They are now very supportive of my progress. I however will not be telling anyone else as it is not their business. I just do not want the talking behind my back or even worse to my face with their ignorance. To protect my mental health I will not share with anyone else.

    Belly bump

I had it too. It will resolve in a couple of weeks. I can not remember exactly what causes it and I am not going to make and uneducated guess. All I know is I had it and it took awhile but now it is all gone. Congratulations on starting your journey!

    All the single ladies

I am sure I dated half of those brothers
  5. I was going to suggest getting your sodium and potassium levels checked. But seems other veterans have beat me to it. I would definitly have a chat with your doc to make sure you are getting in what your body requires.
  6. So happy the surgery saved her life and also helped he lose the extra weight. 19 years is a nice statistic to hear for us newly sleeved (still in the honeymoon stage). Thank you for the information.

    Ketosis

I agree with Rootman as I have not felt that way. Maybe it is the gas they pumped in your body working its way out and you will start to feel better soon. Check with your doc though just to be safe.
  14. The gas build up is something you are eating that your body is not digesting. So the bacteria in your intestines are breaking it down for you and giving off gas as they work away. But if you are on liquids then the saying goes liquids in liquids out. I had similar problems in the beginning for the first 4 weeks (I am sure it was the protein shakes for me). Do not get the episodes as often now (maybe once a month) and I get all my protein from food. Check with your doc as to what he/she thinks.

    Seeking Success Stories

With the sleeve you will eventually be able to eat everything again (just in smaller portions). No malabsorption. I have waited for years for the right kind of WLS to come along researching everything that had come out before and only got my engine going when I started to research the sleeve. I am a happy sleever at just over 5 months out and soon will have lost 100lbs. I am going to be dancing that day. Do your research and make sure you feel completely comfortable with your decision. I did and chose the sleeve.
  16. When I was post op I took my gummy vitamins and dissolved them in a cup of hot decaf tea. It flavoured the tea and I got my vitamins in. I too tried the samples of chewable multi vits and my tummy did not like them. In and out in under 1 min. Now that I am farther along I eat my chewable vitamins.
  17. Migraines are usually triggered by something. Have you figured out what your triggers are? If they are things that you can remove from your life that would be great, but there are some triggers that you can not avoid. I have no idea if VSG could help a migraine unless the trigger was a food item that you cut out. Best to ask your doc this one for a more informed response.

Low carb/no carb alternative to fav foods?

I would just make the pizza and see what he says first. Then say guess what its made with? I have never heard of zucchini pasta I will have to look it up in the stores.

Low carb/no carb alternative to fav foods?

Have you tried shirataki noodles? Personally I do not like them but there are many people who do. If you are going to try them only buy one bag (WASH them really well before cooking). I do not think they need long to cook. I did not like their texture but then again I like my pasta aldente. You could give it a go and see if its a nice alternative. Pizza crust I have an awesome crust that is low carb AND is tasty. It is made with cauliflower!! Thats right I said cauliflower. Here is the link to the recipie Cauliflower pizza dough. I have also been meaning to try these low carb crepes I just have not gotten around to it, here is the link Low carb crepes. Hope you find these recipies yummy!

    struggling

I had trouble with cottage cheese eating it plain. I would add one or two tablespoons of mashed potatoes and some salt and pepper to it to make it taste better. It is only a couple of spoons of potatoes so you should not have to worry about too many carbs. String cheese for a snack gives you a 5 g protein boost, tuna with mayo and dill pickle relish was another favourite of mine (not sure if you consider fish a meat). Glass of milk and add a scoop of powder milk to it to boost the protein. Plus you can count the glass as a Fluid. Peanut Butter sometimes I would take a spoon and eat it right off the spoon. Any nut butter for that matter. Are you a vegetarian? Or does meat bother your stomach?

    Recliner or couch?

Had no problem sleeping in my bed. I think everyone recovers differently so what works for me may not work for you. Hope all goes well and you can sleep in your own bed.
  24. I am halfway to my goal!!! Although I may change my goal as I get closer to it.

    Here I am

You can order samples check out this link protein samples which is located in the food and nutrition section. Samples are the better way to go so that you can find something that you could possibly like. Oh and some people find that the Protein Shakes taste a bit better if they are chilled. Try with ice cubes.
