I will admit that I did not follow my diet progression at all. It was supposed to be 2 weeks full liquids, then pureed, then soft food, then regular food. Week 2 after surgery I went to soft food....small bites and eating slowly but I am having no trouble. No vomiting, nothing feeling stuck.....no issues. My first post op appt. was yesterday and the Dr. said that it was normal that I was doing this and having no trouble because there is no saline in my band and to go ahead eating solid foods but to focus on the protein...which I am. Refried beans today with shredded cheese was BANGIN for lunch! So all I will say is this....if the liquids is killing you, just talk to your doctor....maybe you don't really have to be on the liquids for so long. I'm still getting my protein in with the shakes and regular food and doing everything else I am supposed to so....so far so good. My first fill is 10/11 and I cannot wait!!
  4. get him girl.....my ex and i broke up a few weeks before my surgery.....he can pick a spot on my soon to be slender and FABULOUS a** and kiss it. i keep my facebook page open just so he can see the "after" pics......HOW YA LIKE ME NOW!

Had my 1st Post-Op Appointment today!

I was soooo close to getting my first fill today. She was going to give me 6 cc's! I WAS PUMPED! But, when she went to feel for the port she felt all this Fluid around the port and had to drain it...there was even fluid right on top of my port. So...gotta wait until 10/11...two weeks from now!! BOO HOO!! She said it's normal though, nothing I could have done to prevent it. The good news.....I can eat solid foods. She told me to focus on Protein of course but being able to eat solid foods and I am only two weeks post op ROCKS!!!!

Had my 1st Post-Op Appointment today!

I go for my first pre-op appt. tomorrow and I am going to beg for a fill! I am two weeks post op and the whole diet progression thing....liquid, pureed, soft food, regular food......was out the window earlier this week. I can only eat small amounts but I can eat whatever I want and I am not having any issues or restrictions. I sort of feel the same way as you Shelley.....why am I not having any issues? I thought if I didn't follow the diet progression my band would slip and I would vomit and all this horrible stuff....not that I want any of that to happen, I'm just saying. I'm making good choices in the food I am eating....baked fish, salad, veggies, etc......but, I want to feel some restriction! I have lost 16 pounds total which started to come off when I was on the two week pre-op diet so I am losing but......ya'll know what I'm saying! I have exercised almost everyday, even the day I came home from the hospital...been taking hour long walks...walking to and from the gym and walking on the treadmill. I honestly feel like I never had surgery! For the first time in my life I don't want to be able to eat. I NEED RESTRICTION IN MY LIFE!!!
  8. My list...... BETTER SEX!......WOOT WOOT enroll in that pole dancing/exercise class....that will probably help with the better sex thing....LOL LOL get some racy pics done of myself and get one framed for my living room go shopping at Fredericks of Hollywood and Victoria's Secret be able to put my strappy stilettos on without having to have one of my girlfriends help me NO SPANX!!! no sucking it in be able to wear cute, easy, comfortable clothes without having to worry about tucking this or hiding this having more energy to play with my 5 year old son NO JELLY ROLLS!!! more energy no more CPAP machine....it's definitely not sexy feeling better about me and LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE!!
  9. I just had my surgery on 9/12 and today was the first day I felt normal and I was a little hungry so I tested my limits.....ate a few chips, crushed up crackers in my blended soup......don't beat yourself up. We are just at the beginning and this is not easy. This won't be the first or the last time we mess up and while we would like to try and stay as on track as possible......we are going to slip. GET IT TOGETHER GIRL (that's for both of us)....WE CAN DO THIS!!

    September Bandsters

I am officially a BANDSTER!! My surgery was yesterday. I got to the hospital at 12:30 p.m. and went under around 3 p.m. I spent the night in the hospital. I am sore today but the Tylenol with codeine is helping and I have my heating pad on. The nausea after the anesthesia was nothing nice but they gave me medicine for that through my iv twice and some morphin once. I was nauseas everytime I stood up to go to the bathroom and one time I dry heaved so bad and it killed my stomach!! I think that was the worst of my experience. No issues today except the soreness. When I left the hospital me and my Mom went to a few stores and I was fine. I have been sipping and sipping and I just had a no sugar added fudgescicle and it was YUMMY and felt good on my sore throat. Guess my throat is sore from whatever tube they had stuck down there. All in all I have no complaints and everything went well. I am so glad it's over and I am ready to start my new life!

I am absolutely LIVID right now. My surgery is scheduled for Monday and the surgeon's office just called to tell me they haven't received a pre-determination from the ins. company and that they asked to have my filed expedited. I call the ins. company and they tell me they don't require a pre-determination for me to have surgery and that as long as I meet all the requirements in the medical policy...which I do, the procedure should be covered. I told the surgeon's office I don't care about none of it....this surgery is happening on Monday and if I have to fight with the ins. company afterward then so be it. I have taken off of work, my mother has taken off of work and I spent $315 dollars on the damn Optifast stuff and have been on a liquid diet for TWO WEEKS......oh, this surgery is happening on Monday come hell or high water. And the surgeons office tells me they sent my file to the ins. company on 8/30....WHY.....when my final medical clearance was on 7/25.......I am beyond LIVID right now. Besides the fact that not only am I scheduled to have the lap band I am getting my tubes tied at the same time so there has been coordination with both the surgeons and multiple visits to get all this set up. I have not gone through six months of these classes and bloodwork, visits to this doc and that doc for them to call me the Friday before with this ish......I AM FUMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am being BANDED on Monday, September 12th! Reporting to the hospital at 11am and going for the gold at 2pm. I started my Optifast diet on Monday.....AND IT'S BEEN ROUGH! I have had a nibble here and a nibble theren but for the most part I am proud of myself cause THIS AIN'T EASY YA'LL!! The Optifast containter says that an 8oz shake is an exchange of 1 skim milk and 1 lean meat......so just let me have a piece of grilled chicken! However, I did get into a pair of size 18 jeans today that I have not been able to wear for quite some time soooooo.........so far so good! Good luck everyone and hang in there! We can do this!
  13. I'm so glad I found this website/post! I am on day four of Optifast and I have cheated every single day. I take a bite of my son's dinner when I am making it....I EVEN ATE SOME OF THE SPAGHETTI COLD I WAS SO HUNGRY!! I did bite into a chicken finger last night, chewed and spit it out. I have had my coffee in the moring. It was just too much for me. No caffeine and no food all at once.....I felt miserable on day two. I had to go into an empty office at work and close the door to take a nap. Even someone said I sounded wore out. I am frustrated...it's not that the Optifast is that bad or anything, I am just bored with it and I still have 10 days to go. Ugh......I am just ready to get the surgery and get on with it........
