    October 60 Mile Walk Challenge

I am SO in this month!!
  4. One mile straight? That is awesome! I am SO jealous!! I start my official 5k training today at the gym - so far I can only run roughly 5 mins straight at a slow jog without wanting to pass out....lol I have 60 more lbs to remove from my body to reach goal, which I am hoping to do by my 40th B-day in March.... Keep up the good work!
  5. That is FANTASTIC!!! Congrats!!!

Losing weight thanks to more protien!

I've been meaning to ask my Doc about the Protein bullets - do you take them before or after a workout, or do you use them as a meal supplement? My dr has a pretty strick diet were I can only eat 3 times a day - no snacking unless I get shakey due to hunger, since I tend to work out more.
  7. Going to try and train for a 5k - here's to hoping my knees will hold out... :)

    Constipation HELP....

I have issues normally with constipation - and after surgery it was even worse than normal. My Doc and nurses told me to take SENNA tablets - walgreens sells them. They are a non-harsh vegetable laxative. They work like a charm and no cramping. Good luck.

    When Will I Learn???

I know exactly what you are talking about... I have just hit my 6 months and 5th fill (8.5 cc's), and can really feel the restriciton now. Remember it is a learning process and you are learing what and how much you can eat - your old habits are not going to disappear over night. That is why you go in gradually for fills - listen to your body. I was up front with my doctor all along that I was eating more than 4 oz of Protein at every meal, and since I was still droping the pounds he wasn't too concerned. Now, with this last fill however I am struggling to get all 4 oz in and making myself eat slower...I am a shovel it in kinda a gal and I am learning everyday. Keep your chin up - listen to your body and your head will eventually get it.
  11. Everyone is different - I was waiting for it to settle in my shoulders like they warned me, but it was in my stomach....felt like someone was trying to punch their fist straight up through my stomach. What everyone is saying about waling is correct, what you need to do is walk, walk and walk some more....took about a week for me to feel normal again.

    HELP...

Hello everyone! I had my lapband on 3/8/11 and I am currently down 69 lbs! I do a lot of walking, but I am now needing to step it up a bit more - so aerobics starts Thursday One area I REALLY need to focus on are my arms...they are becoming flabby/wrinkly with skin since I have lost pretty fast. Anyone know of any good arm exercises that can help me? I have been trying the backwards chair push-ups (which I love) to try and work the triceps as well as using free weights, but I have yet to see any results...will the flabbiness eventually go away with exercise or will I always have my batwings??

    HELP...

I thought I was the only one...glad I am not alone....I am trying everything I can think of - maybe it's just because they've been fat for so long, the skin can't shrink back?? I wasn't gonna bring up the thighs, but now that you mention it....I also have the problem that my left side arm is 1.5 inches bigger than my right, and my left thigh is 2 inches bigger than my right...not sure how I got "blessed" with this issue, but seriously...LOL

    2 moths post op

From the album: ASIL72's Before and After Pics

Taken on 5/26 - 2 months post op - down 48 lbs since banding on 3/8/11
  16. Hello! I see you have Dr Joyce - he is FANTASTIC! He banded me on 3/8/11 - How did your surgery go?

  17. I also cannot eat solid food in the AM - I always have a Protein shake. I drink the Atkins Dark Choc Royale - it has 15 grams of protein and REALLY low carbs - the cheapest I can find it is at Wal-Mart, 4 for 5.00. The powders are way cheaper, but I don't like messing with them, so the pre-mades work really nice for me. Just remember when trying to choose, you want High protein and Low carbs.
  18. Bright and early tomorrow morning I head to Step Aerobics class - I haven't done step in over 20 years...lol....I AM SO EXCITED!!!

  19. I had my lapband surgery on 3/8/11 - I am now down 69 lbs with total inches lost of 29.50. Total of my bill was roughly $40,000.00 - majority of that cost was the hospital, Dr bill was around $12,000.00 - my insurance covered majority and I only had to pay $500.00 out of pocket, $250.00 of which was the hospital bill. I will say, you get out of it what you put in it...if you follow your Doctor's program (they are all different) and exercise you will see the weight come off. Good luck, it will be the best decision you ever make - I know the day I walked into the Dr's office, was the first day of my new life :biggrin3:

    6 Month pre-diet???

Do not be discouraged! The time goes by faster than you know it, and you really need to use this time to wrap your head around the surgery, as well as getting all the insurance required tests out of the way (I have Blue Cross Blue Shield). My insurance required a 3 month, 6 lbs to lose and keep off, a psych eval, heart/stress test and a pulminology exam - those alone took 3 months to get taken care off. Plus, I actully started giving up the things I knew I could no longer have - I was a HUGE soda drinker....so I gave that up and went from there, breads, pastas, rice....although eventually I will be able to have the breads and such, better to get your self off of them prior to the 2 week pre-op surgery....(every Dr is different, but my 2 week pre-op diet was 3 meals a day, 2 of which had to be Protein shakes and 1 meal of 4-6 oz of protein only). The reason is to try and shrink the liver so they do not have to manouver it to much during the surgery since they have to lift it to get to the stomach. Good luck - and remember - stay focused and do not get discouraged!!
