  1. Morning everyone. sleeping for me goes off and on my first night. I was banded yesterday afternoon. I don't have pain just horizontal pressure which is uncomfortable but getting better slowly. Thank goodness I'm off until Wednesday!! I'm trying to walk around and today me and the fam are taking a trip to the mall. I got my Soup and Water by my bed and I sip all day and night. It still gives me gas pains but not as bad when I got home yesterday. I ain't gonna lie yesterday I was in so much pain I thought oh god I regret this, but I feel better today.

  2. I don't know what state you are in but I'm in Texas and went thru true results. They do everything. I have united healthcare and they require a psych evalv, 6 months of nutrition and monitoring and certain BMI. I saw a nutritionist once and every appt I had at true results was counted towards my nutritional visit. I was weighed at every appt and asked what I ate and if I was working out. That's it! My PCP faxed a letter of recommendation to true results and they sent everything to the insurance company. I was approved in a week.

  3. I have been trying to figure out for years. I think I ruined my body during my early years and fear that I cannot lose weight.

I was a fat kid. I was raised on all the bad foods, nothing healthy. When I went to high school I was fat, but decided to do something about it. So I lost a lot of weight. By the time I graduated High School I was a lot thinner, but not skinny. I was a size 14. As an adult I gain some more then lost. Then 9 years ago I gained a lot, went on Atkins and lost a bunch. I dont know how much. Went off Atkins 5 years ago and gained a bunch. So in 2008 I got back on the wagon and lost 72 lbs. I worked out, dieted and whatever. Then I got preggo. Had to get off a Atkins. I gained like 35lbs during pregnancy. I have lost 20 of it in the past 4 months or so.

I'm not binge eater. I dont eat sugar. It's my weakness. I live by Splenda. I dont even enjoy fried foods or bad stuff. I think part of my problem is the hypertension that I have. When i dont take my meds I retain Water bad. I'm almost 300lbs, but I was blessed with being tall. I'm a size 18. I have no problem sticking to a diet or working out. The issue I do have is time. With a 16 month old and me and hubbys work schedule I have to get up at 4:00am to workout before work. I moan and groan, but I do it. I have thought long and hard if the lapband is for me since I dont really have any food issues. I dont really eat a lot. Maybe thats the issue? My metabolism is horrible. I work out 5 days a week and diet and would loose an average for 1-2lbs. Now granted I do lift weights 3 days. I hate cardio and force myself to do it. My body has to be beaten into submission. It adapts quickly. I'm a fast healer, cause my body can withstand a lot and adapt, but thats a double edge sword.

You know I thought I was exaggerating about my slow weight loss. So I did biggest loser at my job and we weighed in 2x a week and everyone was losing 2-5 lbs, but not me. One pound here and there and for a few days nothing. So lapband is my final hurrah. If this doesnt work then I'm doomed to be fat. :( I wonder are there any other people out there like me??

Some people feel that diets and working out is one size fits all. It's not. Same for fat. Not everyone overeats. I believe genetics play a huge factor. Some people will never be stick thin unless they do unhealthy things to make that happen. Some people have trouble gaining weight. My hubby and I did the same diet and worked out. he lost tons and I didnt. its maddening. His side of the family is mostly thin people. Mine is not. His sister can eat and eat and not gain much. We all work office jobs. I'm 35 and they are younger, but I see it many times in other people.

I got so mad at the scales that I've stopped weighing myself. I use to weigh everyday and one day I was one weight and then the next I'd gain 2lbs then back down one then up 3!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. You're not alone! My mother and daughter are insistent that I'm making the biggest mistake of my life. I think it's because they don't understand it fully. I even took literature to my mom, but her mind is made up. My daughter is large, too, and I think she's just a bit jealous. We had an aunt who died from gastric bypass, and I believe they both think about that. I have tried to show them that this is so much safer. BUT, I do have a lot of people behind me, too! So, I'm not letting it get to me. I'm doing this for me--mainly for health reasons. So, let's all just stay positive. We know what we're doing, and it's going to be the best thing we've all done for ourselves! Yay, Lap-Band!!!!!

My date is 09/02 as well! I'm excited. I've had surgeries before so that doesnt bother me at all. I've only told 4 people and they are all family plus my hubby. They are supportive and have no doubts I can do it. I lost 72lbs by just diet and excersize so this should be a piece of cake. I love to work out and I've been low carb for years now.

  5. Well personally I dont like being told to wait and all that, but I'm impatient and dont require much care or questions. I've researched all I could about the lapband before I even began my journey. Some people need more involvement with the staff and etc, I dont really. I'm like yeah, yeah lets get this done. If you feel uncomfortable with the office you are going thru then you need to let them know in a tactful way. If nothing is done then change doctors. There are plenty available to work with your schedule and everything.

  6. HI, im new here and havent been banded yet. However, I have been low carb for 4 years now. I went from a size 24 to the size 18 I am now. I lost 62 pounds before i got preggers and gained 20 lbs post pregnancy. I do about 20-30 grams a day. I cook like crazy and limit sodium. There is a site called netrition that I use to buy low carb goodies. They have these things called mashers that I love when I'm craving mash potatoes!!

  7. Hi! I have been lurking for about 6 months now off and on. I got my approval today. I ahve United Healthcare. I am 35, married and have a 16 month old. I am using true results in Dallas with dr.
