    6 Months As Of Today!

Congratulations!! Sounds like you have a terrific work ethic. Awesome.
  2. I don't know why he didn't put me on all liquids. I wasn't about to ask him either. LOL...I know he was impressed with the fact I had lost 36 pounds pre-op so maybe he had confidence in letting me have the one meal a day along with two shakes and know I would follow through and not cheat. I don't really know for sure.
  3. I think it really depends on the guidelines your Doctor provided. I didn't have to do a full liquid diet prior to surgery. My Doc allowed me to have one small meal a day with the other two meals being protein shake with either water, skim or simply smart milk.
  4. is your surgery being done at a teaching hospital? If so there is a good chance the intern could be doing it supervised by your doctor...

    Difficult!

wow a fill at one week post op. That seems a little soon. You're still healing up. Strange the different ways Docs do things....

    You Must Eat To Lose!!!

For a life long fat guy this stuff is confusing....I read a lot about calories on this board and when I asked my Nutritionist about before she tells me not to worry about calories and focus on getting protein in. She wants me to take in between 100 - 120 grams of protein. I think on my next appointment she needs to go in some detail so I understand it better.
  7. You're an inspiration Joel. Thanks for sharing...
  8. Congratulations Brad!! You are on your way to better health :-)
  9. No pain at all. I was banded a month ago today. First few days were rough but mostly from severe gas which is normal. Incisions have just about completely healed up. I had surgery on a Monday and I felt fine to go back to work on Wednesday but I ended up taking vacation. You'll do great!!
  10. I had something similar to this. I had blood drawn and lab work done two days before surgery and the band class went over everything in preparation of the day. Tell you when to arrive and what to bring with you and they basically go over step by step what to expect.
  11. You're doing awesome!! Welcome to the banded club.
  12. Congrats and best of luck...
  13. Thanks Jennifer. I will stick with it as I am in it for the long haul. I think my problem is I am not eating enough. Strange how I lost all interest with food since surgery.

What To Do W/ My Pets?

My Wife and I have two cats. My 4th day post op one of the cats jumped on me while I was sleeping. It was not pleasant at all. She jumped from the floor directly on to my stomach as I was sleeping on my back in bed. I was hurting for a while and I have a pretty good tolerance for pain. Definitely sleep with a pillow over your stomach...
  15. Wow awesome job. Congratulations!! I am a month out and managed to drop 28 rather quickly but the scale has not moved in two weeks.

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?

Listening to some of the vets who've been around for a while they say it could take a few fills to hit the zone but of course everyone is different. I do get full a little quicker then I used to but I can still sit down and eat a regular size meal.

Anyone From April Had Banded Filled?

My fill is scheduled for 5/29. I need it too. I must have healed up pretty good because I feel as though I have zero restriction..

    Carbonated Drinks???

I must admit I had my fair share of Guinness the week before surgery...it was a very sad breakup but we both went our separate ways.

    Can You Guys Help Me?

A lot of great advice here and one thing I would like to add is Support Groups. I know they're not for everyone but based on what you have said it sounds like you have some of emotional stuff going on. Does your surgeon have a psych counselor attached to his practice? Maybe a talk with someone and being candid about it all might be helpful. Just throwing that out there. Hungry Head is a tough battle to overcome and I think only a small handful of people truly overcome it. Most just have to do a lot of internal talking and listening...."Am I really hungry or in my mind I just want it" Good Luck!!
  22. I agree with the others. He must have a good reason to want to remove it and do a revise but he should be providing full disclosure of information.
  23. My understanding is most places provide services that they cannot bill insurance companies for. For example support groups, handouts and all sorts of other educational material. Place I went to had a $400 program fee and they allowed us to make payments if needed but had to be paid in full by the time a surgery date was made.
  24. Bandster Hell is what its called. That time in between surgery and the green zone where it seems like you eat anything and everything just as if you never had surgery. I am dealing with it also. I was banded 4/16 and dropped 28 lbs quickly but the last week and a half the scale has not moved. Any weight loss in the healing period is an added bonus.... I hope to drop 100lbs in the first year and 28 is damn good start...
