About Me

My weight loss journey began back in September of 2010.  It all started because of this horrible disease I have  called Diabetes.  I had gestational diabetes with each of my children and  the last child "diabetes" decided that it would attach itself and become type 2.  When i fasted and saw that my sugar was 253 and my a1c was 10.6, me and my doctor both agreed that a change needed to happen and needed to happen fast.  I was only 24 then.

So i joined the local gym and was faithfully there at least 5 times a week and logging my food intake and all that, and managed to lose 7lbs by January.  I was disappointed.  I was tired and exhausted and even though my blood test looked better, they still weren't in the range they needed to be in.  My medication became medications and I was having a hard time finding the right glucose control medicine that worked best with me.  So in December of 2010 I recieved my referral through Kaiser to start the bariatric weight loss program with the nutritionists.

I weighed in at 262lbs and had to lose 7% of my weight by the end of my 6month program. So now its June 2011 and I have cheated a bit with diet pills to control my appetitie...becaue I can throw down on the table!  But its pretty much controlled now and I weighed myself this morning in at 232!  11lbs under my 7% weight loss goal.  I have received the referral to Dr. Mayes at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington Virginia and have my first visit with the surgeon on July 8th.

I am excited yet nervous about getting the vertical sleeve but I know in the long run its for my health.  I am open to any questions and appreciate all comments and advice recieved and read.

  Wish me Luck!
