  3. Jan 22. One month later. All is well!

  4. banded 12/22. My doctor gave me the ok to eat solids after my two week appointment. I have not become nauseous, but I felt uncomfortable while eating an english muffin. Everything else has been fine. I had my first fill today. 2 days liquids & 2 days mushies. I do not eat pasta, stopped eating it a few years back. I loved bread soooo much I made a choice to drop my least favorite carb. I have not had biscuits, pancakes, or cornbread. I have had a footlong (not at one sitting) turkey, cheese, lettuce, light mayo, hot and I did not have trouble. It took me all day to eat it. I eat less, but I eat food. When my stomach feels full (no growling) I stop. No more candy for me. I am losing slow, ( 1/2-1lb per week) but I'm losing so I am VERY happy. I walk my treadmill. I keep my calories under 1200. I wasn't losing when I was 500-800 calories per day. I was just "maintaining", which I definitely did not want. I read an entry on the forum and a member stated that she had one day almost every two weeks where she reached her calorie max and the other times she stayed below and the weight came off. This made sense because your body never gets a chance to get used to what you are doing. My doctor had me watching my total fat and protein per serving of food, and today he added to make sure that the total carbs are half of the total protein. I do a lot better with guidelines so I'm happy that he gives me some guidance in that regard. Good luck all!

    Muscle Milk

I drink Chocolate Muscle Milk Lite the premixed drink that comes four to a pack. I get it from walmart. i'm not a milk drinker because I am lactose intolerant. I love the chocolate MML. I don't even refrigerate it. I have mixed it with coffee to make a chocolate latte. I have mixed it with carnation instant breakfast and ice to make a "milk shake". I am a "chocoholic" so this satisfies my craving for chocolate candy and chocolate cake. I have not tried the powder, but I don't like the powder protein that i have now. (a different brand). The MML is 100 cal and the total fat grams is lower than the protein amount (which is what my doctor said I should be sure to keep an eye on even if the item says low fat or low cal). At any rate, I highly recommend the MML liquid, I don't know about the powder or the regular MM.

    Protein Drinks Or Snacks

like festivus I like the muscle milk. they have a lactose free low fat chocolate shake at wal-mart. i thought it was going to be nasty, but it tastes pretty good. i can drink it room temperature. i was using a strawberry cream powder, but I got over that in a couple of days, but the muscle milk is really tolerable. worth the try. as far as protein bars i'll have to let you know about the zone bars that have 210 cal and 15 or 20 grams of protein per bar, but i do like snackwell cereal bars 140 cal 8g of protein. they come in chocolate (delicious), cinnamon raisin (delicious) i'm allergic to apples so this was so great to find, and peanut butter (i haven't tried).

First Fill - I Freaked Out!!!

@bluetigereyes we were banded on the same day. I found snack wells chocolate cereal bar, it has 8 grams of protein the total fat is 5g. my provider told me I was doing well and that I could experiment with what I could tolerate. My key is going to be tracking. I think that will help me stay on course and have a fun diet.

    Burping!

i'm burping a lot while i'm up and rippin the runway when I'm lying down. I do take my mylanta chews. i ate my first meal and right in between chews a big belch came gurgling out and my son just stopped chewing and looked at me in disgust. I apologized but I just couldn't control it. It felt so good, i don't know if I would have tried... lol

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

I was banded december 22. I lost 1 pound pre-op and 14lbs post op. I was not put on a pre-op diet and tried to do it on my own...and lost the one pound. My first pre-op appointment is January 4. But anyways, I am on week two creamy liquids. I'm making it, but its been hard to do the 48 oz of water everyday. The pain is gone. Mylanta gas chews are the bomb! I was so glad to sip my tomato soup and eat sugar free pudding! I mix my protein mix with kefir and I will be so glad when I can have regular protein. When I saw John Stamos on the greek yogurt commercial I wanted greek yogurt. Since we cannot have fruit yogurt, I've been tolerating vanilla flavored greek yogurt. Tastes like sour cream. None of this takes the place of waffle fries or chicken minis...lol and I came to my mom's house and she made a brown sugar pecan cake and a yellow cake with cream cheese icing with pecans. Then my brother and my son just came home with Micky D's for everyone (my treat, but none for me). I'm staying in the room sipping my water. I'm excited about getting to the next levels and back to a new normal. I know that I will have to eat healthier but that's ok. I'm ready to EAT and not sip everything! But I love my band.

Sore Around Lap Band Port Site

Wow I'm amazed that you are working. I was banded on the 22nd also. Only my port site is tender all the others are ok, but the between the gas and internal soreness I don't feel like doing much of anything. I walked on my treadmill and went to the grocery store yesterday and I've been beat. I went all day with out pain meds, but I had to break down and take some around 7pm. I only have ultram, because I'm allergic to everything else. But I was thinking to myself this morning that I'm glad I didn't have to work or drive because I don't feel up to it. It might be the clear liquids that I'm on. My nutritionist, prior to the surgery, said that I should do clear liquids at least five days. I've been sticking to that. I have a schedule from my doctor's office that says 2 weeks, which will be my first post-op appointment. I read other people's thread and they're are already drinking protein shakes, some even doing full liquids, and some are even doing mushies. I'm going to stick to what I was given, but I was just curious about all the different doctor's orders during the 2 week post op. I thought they had to do some type of test to see if you were able to advance to the different stages.
