    What is WRONG WITH ME???

I'm so glad I'm not the only one going through this. I tell my mom I think instead of removing part of my stomach, they put a baby in there, because I feel just like I did when I was pregnant. Something sounds good, I take 2 bite, and in the garbage it goes. I'm the same way with liquids, I have tried ever type of crystal light they make, and if I take a sip of anything I get the sick feeling. I'm afraid I'm going to get dehydrated, if I don't start drinking soon, but how can I when I feel sick after I drink. Eating used to be a pleasure, and now it is a chore. I dread eating, and unfortunately that is all I seem to be able to think about, trying to come up with something, that I think I may be actually able to eat, but nothing. I hope it passes soon, I don't know if I will survive if last much longer. I keep thinking I should be losing alot of more then I am because I'm hardly eating anything, and it is not that I don't want to I try, I everything is just YUCK!!!! My daughter had pizza today, and if I was not so scared I would of tried it to see what it tasted like to me. But I'm to chicken.

    Annoyed, pissed off, emotional...

I think alot of us on this forum have probably had the same thoughts, and feelings you are having now. I know I have. I can see you are really trying, and have lost weight, your are going to the trainer to learn to deal with you feelings. That says alot right there. You should be proud of yourself that you are trying. It is hard, I know it is, but you are on this forum for a reason, no one made you join this forum you did it for yourself. Are you preop or postop? I'm learning to take this sleeve thing one day at a time. Just remember you are not alone, we are all here for you, and know how you are feeling. Please keep us posted as we are all concerned about you.

    Slightly Sad

Today is my fourth week, and I feel the same exact way. I explain to everyone it is like a chore to eat. I dread when it is time to eat. Trying to think of something I may like, and then making it tasting it and yuck, after two bites, and I can not eat anymore

Ok, now I'm a bit freaked out

Dave, Have you checked with VA hospitals in your area. I just got my surgery done through the VA I had to travel 8 hours to get it done, but to me it was well worth it. I would even check the VA's in the states that border you to see if they do the sleeve procedure, and if your doctor at VA says the VA does approve them they are wrong, it took me 4 years and several doctors to finally fine a Doctor that cared enough to look into it, and if it was not for her I would not be here today with my Sleeve. Another thing is if you are approved for surgery, and there is not a VA close enough to you that performs the procedure they will send you to a civilian surgeon. I was going that route ,but then they decided WV was close enough for me to travel to. I hope this helped you out a little. Good luck, and do not stop fighting for what you want. It will pay out in the end, trust me I know from experience.

    Is this heartburn?

Well I called my doctors office, and spoke with a triage nurse, she is having me go and get checked out. Finally I have been having this problem since week one. Maybe something will get done now. Wish me luck, I just hope it is not something more serious.
  6. I had my surgery 7 hours away from home, and on a school day. My daughter is older 15 years old, and she had to go school, or it would of been considered unexcused, not only that but she is on the colorguard in the band, and she would of missed her first football game of the season. My opinion is what are they going to do in the waiting room, except get bored. Shoot I hate to wait in a waiting room myself, but for young ones, it is probably worse. They would have a much better time at school, and they won't miss any school work.

    Is this heartburn?

Man I just got back from Wally world, as I have had acid reflux since 8:00pm, when I read this post. I went and picked up some Prilosec, but then read the box when I got home and says it does not work right away. After eating 6 Tum tablets you think it would ease up a little (NOPE). I may have to run back out for Gaviscon, I need sleep or I won't make it at work tomorrow, and I'm sure the boss wont like that. Thanks for the info. I think today has been the worst it has been and the longest I have had it, I actually had it on and off all day. If it don't go away I think I may cry.....

    Is this heartburn?

Wow, Barrett's esophagus, I never even thought about that. I had acid reflex most of the day today, and actually have it right now. Let me go eat those TUM's. lol Maybe I will go buy from pepcid or any other suggestions. If others are taking it, it can not be to bad for me. I will try calling the Doctors office again tomorrow. I don't know how much more of this acid stuff I can take. It actually affected me at work today. Thanks Tiffykins.
  10. I'm glad you are doing better. You are on phase 4 I'm still on phase 3, but when I called Roberta was not there and I talked to some other nutrionist, who got on to me because I was not getting in enough Protein or liquids. I only got sick once when I ate to fast. I will be looking forward to that call. Keep me posted on how things are going. I know about the first apt and same surgery day, not to mention they confused us the entire time we were in the hospital. I will not forget when they told me I had my gallbladder out. Talk about scare someone to death.:biggrin0: lol Let me know how your appointment goes on the 6th.

    Is this heartburn?

I get the same exact feeling. I asked my doctors office about getting on a PPI, but they told me to take Tums, (which I have been since week one) and that does not even touch it. Then she says wait a couple of hours before going to bed after I eat, which after reading on here I knew that also, still I get it almost every morning around 4 am, and also throughout the day. How many tums can one person take. lol Maybe at my follow up appointment I will bring it up again.

    Itchy!!

I know exactly what you mean about itchy. I scratch all around the area, but try not to touch were the scab is. I hope the itching gets better.
  13. If it makes you feel any better, I have not been doing a great job with the Protein, and the fluids either. It seems like a chore to get it all down. I know I need to try better, and the nutrionist got on to me yesterday about it, but how can you get something down when it makes you sick to your stomach. Nothing taste good, and I just don't want to eat, or drink. But I am because I don't want to get sick. Hope things get better for you. My follow up appointment is October 22. TTYL sleeve sister. Lisa

    100 lbs in Six Months...almost!

Anna, your post was very inspiring. I am 3 weeks post op, and can relate to everything that was in your post except for losing 100lbs, but that will come with time. Congrats on your weight loss, you look fantastic.
  15. I'm 2 almost 3 weks postop, and tonight after dinner I experienced sharp pains in my stomach area. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. It is the first time I hae experienced it since the surgery. I'm kind of worried. I guess it could be gas pains, but I just don't know the pain is not contant, it comes and goes. If it continues I will call my Doctor tomorrow, but if it keeps up tonight, I know my mind is going to start racing, and then I will start thinking something is wrong with my sleeve. So if you have experienced it or may know what the pain is please set my mind at ease. The pain has not occurred now for almost 20 minutes. Maybe it is just the stomach cramps like everyone else has been talking about. Just scared me half to death a new pain in the stomach area.
  16. Fran, Welcome. I think alot of us had the samw questions you did. What helped me decided on having the surgery was my quality of life. I do not like that my weight played a big part in my day to day activities, and not to mention my health. I decided this is something I had to do if I wanted to see my daughter graduate high school, get married, etc. I'm only 3 weeks postop, but am learning to live were food is not in control of me I'm in control of it. Good luck to you on your journey. We are here for you.

    Sharp Pains in stomach area

It was my actual stomach. I am on mushies, and ate scrambled eggs which I ate before, and did not even eat my allowed amount. The pain only happened a couple of times, and went away. Hopefully it was nothing. We will see if it happens again
  18. Sassie, I'm sorry to hear about your complications. I see your first post on this post was in May. How are you doing? I hope things have gotten better for you. Please let us know how you are doing? I'm thinking about you, and hoping you are okay.

    Nausea heighten by smells

Deb, That is exactly what I told my mom. I told her I feel like I'm pregnant. Some things sounds real good I will cook it take two bites, and get nauseaus. Yesterday my friend came over with her dogs, and the smell don't normally get to me, but I actually had to go to my room, until the dogs left because the smell made me nauseaus. I felt like a horses butt, I love them dogs, but I just could not handle the doggie smell. Another thing bothering me is the texture of the food. Once I puree it and put it my mouth, thats it I can only eat one or two bites, and then in the garbage it goes. I hope I don't get malnutrition I don't know what else to do. I can get down a scrambled egg ok, but that is about it right now.
  25. I think almost everyone has those same questions and doubts right before surgery. You just need to think of the reasons you wanted the surgery to begin with. I know for me just the thought of the quality of my life after surgery, kept me going. I'm just over two weeks post op, and getting use to everything, it hasn't been to bad, and I'm more excited about losing the weight then I am about regretting not being able to eat certain things. Good luck to you, and please let us know how you are doing as soon as you can. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
