  1. It is strange how the countries differ somewhat in the fast food addictions, i would say in the UK people tend to be addicted to chinese and indian takeaway or kebabs, but children/teeenagers are addicted to the usual Mac D KFC etc, I never really went mad on take aways and always prefer a home cooked burger than a fast food one. Years ago i remember trying a MacD and thinking why is the bap around the burger so sweet, why is the tomato ketsup so sweet, why are all the dips so sweet, then i realised that was their secret to getting people addicted. Sugar is way more addicting than fat is, but it is still addicting too, they get you all ways. make your own if u cant live without a burger or a pizza or fried chicken, at least u control what goes into it. Am glad u all gave up the commercial fast food rubbish.. well done

    Suggetion

I wore pre and post surgery, compression garments from marena.com, they do shapewear too and athletic wear, it is expensive but believe me it is much tougher than spanx and doesnt make you hot at all. Worth every penny it cost, and wash and wears brilliantly. The hospital after my surgeries got me the compression legs, compression girdle, compression arms and bra, they are medical standard items and last for ages.

    Fear

It is medical progression that objects can be placed inside our bodies, from pacemakers to replacement hips and joints, even some dental work, no need to fear a small piece of plastic, look forward to the results !
  4. 7cc in a 14cc band and need a small fill.

    4 1/2 months post-op and no fill

Congratulations on your weight loss so far, but as the others have said, it is essential that you keep your appointments whether u need fills or not. Taking care of the band is your responsibility, any complications and you could end up having to have it removed. You probably were too tight with a small fill post surgery due to the general swelling post op, it is common for people to feel tight after surgery if they have a fill when the band is put in. Now u have lost weight it is a natural progression that the band may get looser due to the reduction of fat around your stomach.

    I need my band removed

The one thing we all need to be aware of is self diagnosing problems associated with the band, its an easy trap to fall into and often things are not what they seem. You need to seek medical guidance as to what the problem is and its solution. Congratulations on your weight loss, the last thing you want to do tho is to remove the band that helped your gastric bypass work better for you, i am assuming that you were unable to control your eating /hunger when you had the band fitted so seek the advice of a bariatric/gastro doctor and see what their advice is. Good luck !
  7. Its such a shame that you put yourself through this operation etc only to give up just 3 weeks after you were banded. I suggest a visit back to your surgeon and discuss whats happened, bite the bullet and just make that appointment, if you are serious u want to give this another shot, you need to jump through a few hoops again to get back on track. Good luck with it, not everyone is successful the first time, its just like trying to give up smoking, some will manage it some not the first time. Its not that you didnt manage first go at it, its what u do next thats important . good luck.
  8. Might be an idea to put a pillow either side of you when u are sleeping, this will stop u turning over in your sleep, till u are fully healed and can sleep on your tummy without any problems, I do agree tho a quick phone call to the doctors cant hurt
  9. Hmmm that doesnt sound good, I am not sure what u can do other than phone every health governing body where u are to find out what can be done. I now in the Uk we have area health governing bodies that oversee all medical facilities i am sure Canada must have something similar. Just do what you can, its all u can do for now ... sorry to hear about your troubles tho.
  10. I would try contacting the centre and asking if there is one of the bariatric nurses there who might consider doing fills on a private basis or is willing to continue to give support, afterall the staff if they are losing their jobs will need to get jobs elsewhere.. just an idea
  11. Breaking out of a plateau sometimes requires changing something. I know that more than 1200 calories a day would stop me losing weight and those calories had to be good calories, its not just about counting them its about how they are made up, try reducing them by around 200 a day and see if that makes a difference, also change up the exercise, if u are only doing cardio then do some strength training and vice versa, change things till u get results then stick to it. Good luck
  12. Well i was one of those real old and fat people so i had tons of skin everywhere, brachioplasty ( arm lift) i had done and its brilliant, i wear sleeveless whenever the weather allows, i love my new arms

    HOT to COLD

Lol i love my hoodies too .. I even had ceiling fans put in when i was big, now i never turn them on and i even own some thermal underwear eeek !
  14. I understand grabbing onto every lb loss when its been slow for you, just read all that are possibilities that 'could' happen and if u are happy with things the way they are then keep up the good work. Your band will probably loosen a tad anyways if u carry on losing weight as quick as what you are I would consider a trip to the doctors tho if u keep getting problems
  15. Now come on you know 5lbs in 5 days isnt indicating the sweetspot, its indicating a band thats a little too tight !

    Sagging skin

Hi Suebee well my first operation was a 360 abdominoplasty with all the repairs to my stomach muscles i have a circumferal scar and one from my breast bone down, called an anchor or fluer de lis scar, i also had my arms done at the same time called a brachioplasty they turned out amazing. Recovery was surprisingly good for my age and an 11 hour operation, i certainly didnt have that much pain at all, I had full compression garments which help so much you really only hurt a lot if the skin moves so the compression not only prevents fluid build up it also keeps things still. I had 6 vacuum drainage bottle and a catheter for 3 days and then a further 2 days in hospital when they took them out. 6 months later i had my inner thighs lifted, now they were more painful, it took 7 hours, of surgery, again drainage tubes for 3 days then 1 day fuirther in hospital full compression garments on legs which to be honest are just like leggings, i purchased black ones too to wear after hospital, legs took longer than my body lift to heal and i got stitch abscesses as i am allergic to some surgical stuff, finally 3 weeks i had my breast lift, a maxoplasty best op yet but had some revision surgery needed doing to my legs so took 8 hours, then afterwards i had a haematoma form and down to surgery again for another 2 hours, hardly any pain with this surgery tho, am still healing . I dont want to hijack this thread so if u need/want any more info just message me i have a thread in the cosmetic surgery forum if u want to see some pics .
  17. I recently had this happen to me 2 times since i had my plastic surgery, but that was caused by my lapband being too tight, i woke choking, but it wasnt burning like an acid reflux just reflux i assume, i had 1 mls taken out of my band and no problems since. I notice you have been a member since 2009 which means u could have a 4 cc band, so your fill level of 2.8 is quite a lot, i certainly would get the the bariatric doctor and try a small unfill.

    Food ahhhhhhhh !!

Get yourself a really good sharp knife, i have a victorinox tomato knife from amazon, i can cut meat as thin as lace and i never stick on it, my knife even came into hospital with me, i carry one in my bag to avoid any problems when eating out .. works a treat for me !
  19. Its unlikely after 1 fill you will any restriction at all, some people take 4 to 5 fills to find the right fill amount, some take longer others a shorter time, but in general terms 1 fill hardly notices on most people

    Sagging skin

My plastic surgeon told me there was no exercise that could get rid of sagging skin, preventing it relies on slow weight loss, moisturising, keeping hydrated, keeping fit and filling some of the void with muscle tone etc and just normal good skin care. To be honest sagging skin is more a result of hormones, genetics, age and amount of weight you have to lose. The younger you are the more chance you stand of not getting saggy skin, but its a lottery even then, I had all my saggy skin removed in a total of 28 hours surgery over 3 operations, there was nothing i could do to prevent the saggy skin so i had it removed surgically.
  21. That year has gone quick and u are doing great !

To Weigh or Not to Weigh

Absolutely. I weigh every day first thing in the morning, the scales keep me accountable to myself. I only write the weight down once a week tho, but it is a documented fact that people who weigh themselves regularly are less likely to gain the weight back. I got to 400 lbs by not weighing myself, would u really be aggravated at a friend if they said u look like u put a lb of weight on, just treat the scales like a friend, and if they show a lb increase use it as motivation to work harder the next day. I would hate to weigh myself at lesser intervals and find i had put on a few lbs and not know why. Everyday allows u to recall what u did the day before and pinpoint maybe what caused a weight gain. I agree we are all different and many people manage fine just weighing at the doctors office or only 1 a week or month, but that wouldnt work for me, i have maintained my weight loss for nearly a year now and maintaining a 237 lb weight loss takes a lot of hard work and determination, the scales help me in that determination.

    200 Pound Loss Picw

    What a difference, well done
  24. I had saggy skin everywhere, but i had lost 237 lbs, theres many factors that contribute to sagging skin, amount of weight u lose, age, hormones, genetics etc, if u are going to get it theres not much u can do about it, is saggy skin worse than skin filled with fat ? i wore my saggy skin like a badge of honour till i had surgery to get rid of it all, but even without the plastic surgery losing weight was far more important. You have to ask yourself why u are worrying about saggy skin, but didnt worry about stretching it by being heavy concentrate on things u can change and not things u cant ( not without money and surgery anyways )

    Is it worth a chance???

make sure u weigh in with heavy jeans on, lots of change in the pockets and anything else to add the weight .. if u are desperate, water weight too helps, load up on salt and water the night before like they have done on biggest loser. To be honest make sure u think this surgery is the only answer left for you
