    Lactose Intolerance

I have been lactose intolerant for about 20 years. Lactaid brand ( and maybe others) sell lactose free yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, ice cream & probably other products I can't remember right now. They are sold in all major supermarkets. Cabot brand has lactose free cheeses. Also sold at Walmart and major supermarkets. My nutritionist recommended that my Protein be " whey ISOLATE" and it has worked great. I have purchased some at GNC and the unjury brand online . They are everywhere .At Starbucks is the only time I ask for soy. Hope this helps.

    If You Had Sleep Apnea...

This is how I knew to ditch my CPAP. On my 4th week I got very nauseous and could hardly eat or drink. After a barium swallow my surgeon figured out the CPAP was filling me with air! I stopped using it, the nausea went away immediately and I no longer snore. I wake up refreshed. However I want to be sure I am actually cured, (I like having a healthy heart ) so my pulmonary doctor lowered the pressure and I will use it for a few days so he has some data. To be completely sure they want me to have another sleep study when I lose a lot more weight. Hope this helps.

November Sleevers 2011 Roll Call Shoutouts

I didn't have a pre-op diet and I just started exercising very leisurely and I have lost the same weight as you. I could have easily lost another 11 pounds if I exercised vigourously and had a pre-op diet like you did. Those extra 11 pounds would have put me at 50 pounds. We don't all lose at the same rate, we didn't all start at the same weight, we don't all have the same size stomach, some had complications so they lost more while recovering etc. It is absolutely possible that some people have lost 50+ pounds. What is unbelievable to me is that you called others liars without taking those things into consideration.

November Sleevers 2011 Roll Call Shoutouts

Hello everyone, Today is my 3 month anniversary and just got back from my surgeons office. I got to speak to the nutritionist, my surgeon, the exercise physiologist and the mental health counselor. It was great! I got all my questions answered and they were happy with my progress. I am a "slowish" loser, so it was great to hear from them that I am on target. I will jumpstart my exercise routine. I have been biking leisurely 5 days a week for 15 minutes (I had not riden a bike in 30 years), which of course is not enough, so I plan to join a gym shortly. Meanwhile I am going to a Zumba class this Saturday. Two days ago I was able to eat 3 ounces of chicken and I was happy and shocked! It should start to become easier to continue to meet my Protein goals now. I am able to meet my Fluid goals almost everyday, but I struggle with Vitamins. I promised myself I will make a plan today so I can start taking them religiously. I feel great and want to continue to feel this way, so I have to get better at it. What else? I am two sizes down and thrilled about it! My husband measures me every month. It is exciting to see the number of inches lost go up. I bought some shapewear and now take my time getting dressed in the morning. I want to look nice everyday! I have a long way to go yet, but I am truly enjoying the journey. I hope I get to say this at my 6th month update. Until then, good luck everyone!!!!!
  8. I haven't felt that way yet because I know I can have some later if I wanted to. However I have been fearing this on my upcoming vacation to France. I can't imagine only eating a bit of that awesome food and leaving the rest on the plate! It has been worrying me for weeks, which is terrible in itself! Aaaah!

How Did You Choose Your Screen Name?

I carry most of my weight on my middle and as we know that is the deadliest kind, so I had the surgery to hopefully live longer. I want a longer life.

    Unflavored Protein Powder

Fruit juice is not ideal at all, but it was the only way some of us could meet our protein goals. At your stage, the only other thing I can think of that is not sweet or milky is unjury chicken Soup, but 4 ounces does not have all that protein you want. Best wishes!
  12. I am sorry this is not what you want to hear but I was never able to stop myself from thinking about it and I couldn't make time fly. :arf: So I let myself be obsessed  and I read old and new threads on this website for many hours a day (the positive AND negative posts). I wrote a list of things I wanted to accomplish on my journey, a list of reasons why I was doing the surgery, saved recipes for Protein shakes, broths & other foods, ordered Protein Shakes samples, wrote a list of questions for my nutritionist & surgeon, asked questions, organized my closet by size, dreamed about the clothing I wanted to buy, increased my Water intake, read my surgeons "manual", organized my life so I could have some down time after surgery etc. I hope this helps. :smile1: ( I am STILL obsessed!)

    Scared This Isnt Gonna Work

There are like a million posts about this. I was able to eat "a lot" initially, and still eat more than many. Log your foods and you are probably under 800 calories! Not a lot at all. You will feel restriction once you start eating dense Protein (chicken, pork etc). It will be alright. :-)
  14. Thanks so much for all the detail and honesty! Great read, great help. Congrats!!!!!!!!
  15. Did you surgeon say this is normal????
  16. This was mentioned in my pre-op class. We were adviced to eat in a relaxing environment.
  17. I have fluctuations, but I associate it with gas & acidity. I have noticed that if I don't wait the full 30 minutes before eating when I take my PPI first thing in the morning, my sleeve feels funny and therefore I eat less. Same with gas, so I take gas strips when I feel I can't eat enough to meet my goals. I stay pretty regular with Benefiber, so maybe that is why I haven't noticed a correlation with BM. I am guessing, of course, but seems to solve the "problem" for me.

    Insentive Boyfriend

You should probably be asking yourself why you allowed him to overule you in a situation like this.
  19. That is not why I mentioned those things. Many sleevers become lactose intolerant after surgery and that causes stomach discomfort among other things. Same with high sugar levels and cold drinks. It wasn't about the nutrition.
