  1. Perhaps I should have said I suffered from an adverse reaction, all listed under the side effects that I should have read more closely to begin with. I have not been diagnosed with hypoglycemia but was advised by my dietician that my high protein diet needed to be better balanced.
  2. I posted a while back that I was feeling hungover when I woke up then much of the day I was nauseated, dizzy, no energy. I just wanted to lay down all the time. Turns out I may have been allergic to Omeprazole. I switched to Zantac and it made a huge difference. I still struggle, I think with low blood sugar, but its not a battle like it was. YAY!

    Belite

I went to Dr. Rodriguez. I wouldn't say night mare, however it doesn't sound as ideal as many of the other doctors I have read about since. There was a huge language barrier. While the operation room (in my very brief lucidity) seemed modern, the rest was not state of the art. The only drug they offered was Toradol. The beds were pretty saggy. This was not at a Hospital. It was a one floor "infirmary" though they claimed to be able to handle emergency situations. They did pick me up promptly and delivered me to an ok hotel. Not 5 star by any sense of the meaning. I wish I would have had my last meal somewhere other than the hotel but I was hesitant to explore. I found out, just before I left, that there was an interpreter available at the hospital. In hindsight the whole thing seems a little crazy but the operation was successful and that was the main thing.
  5. My kids had frozen meals for about a week. I prepared them before hand by telling them that I would need extra help around the house, that they need to be extra dilligent about their regular chores and especially picking their things up off the floor. Bending over was out of the question for about a week. My husband doesn't live with us so I told them they really will need to step it up and do what I ask and they would be rewarded. I also had some plans for them, going to the public pool, play dates etc... the time has gone by pretty fast, I have started to cook for them again and sit with them while they eat, sometimes joining in for a bite or two. I still ask for extra help sometimes, just because the lack of energy from calories. They were pretty helpful, though my hardwood floors have seen better days. It's been hard to stand back and watch them do things differently than I would... when my son mows the lawn it's in some random pattern that is driving me batty

    My surgery was June 18...

I've been stuck at 205 for 3 or 4 days. Frusterating. It seems like if I eat any carbs I stall out. (yesterday we were at an event at the fairgrounds and I ate some kettle corn) Maybe it's just normal but after losing almost daily, It is a little disappointing,
  7. I should have started this earlier. I have a lot to say! My surgery was performed by Jose Rodriguez through Belite, in Tiajuana. It was really a bizzarre adventure, crossing the border, language barrier, not so state of the art facilities. I was checked into an ok hotel. Taken later for EKG and bloodwork, not at a hospital, but a one floor infimary staffed with nurses. The 'Belite team' was not based there, they traveled back and forth to Juarez.. Anyhow, I won't go into much more detail, surgery was normal, everything worked out fine. I would do it all over again and even after telling the whole story, my best friend is scheduled for July 16. The first few days my incisions were painful enough that I leaned on the pain releivers they provided... toridol I believe. Non narcotic. I was able to tolerate all the clear liquids I tried, water, soup broth, juice, my favorite thing was Passion tea from Starbucks. I was able to eat (after chewing a long while) gummy vitamins and swallow pills with a little dragging feeling but not much pain. Getting up and moving always seemed to be the best medicine. SO I'll skip through to now, about 3 weeks later. I'll start with the biggest pay-off of course, I have lost 30 pounds since my starting weight of 236. I lost 10 pounds pre-op and 20 more since. I m losing about a pound a day. I honestly can't really tell, but other people have noticed. I'm still squeezing into my pants. My struggles change daily. I sip water all day but it never seems to be enough. I am working on getting at least one protein shake in daily. I stop by the fridge and take a sip whenever I think of it. I am starting to incorporate the soft foods that have been recommended. So far I have tolerated pretty well about a half of a scrambled egg, cottage cheese, small amounts of yogurt, noodles are great... not very nutritious. I went out for sushi. Toro was fantastic though I ate too much. I think the thing that pushed me over the edge was drinking a little plum wine. Speaking of alcohol... I used to love vodka. I really still do but it hurts to drink it and makes me feel like crap. It 's a funny thing, all of the things I turned to for comfort have disappeared. Thank God for anti-depressants! Some mornings it takes me an hour or so to work through some kind of morning sickness I've developed. I took some advice from a member of having some juice before I get out of bed and that seems to help a bit. I am thinking of switching from Prevacid to something else. I have only thrown up twice, once when I took a pill and it stuck in my throat, and another time when I ate cottage cheese too fast. It is getting better every day, though I am always worried about nutrition. I am figuring things out... sometimes the hard way which is just really being over full. I'll be much more excite when I am under 200 and can slide into some 14's!
  8. Feel better today... juice in bed:)
  9. I'm taking Prevacid morning and night, it seems that between those, multi vitamins, and another perscription I have to take, I am full half the day just from them, even when I spread them out. I'll be happy when I can get more food in. I should be eating more soft foods now and I can tolerate most anything, not nearly as much as I have heard people describe. One scrambled egg is too much. It takes me all day to get in a protein shake.
  10. I had my Gastric Sleeve Surgery on June 18 so I am just a few weeks out. I am suppose to be eating soft foods and I am, though it is a struggle to eat as much as has been recommended. My biggest hurdle right now is how awful I feel for about an hour or two when I first get up. I feel nauseated, hot, dizzy.... just like a hangover or morning sickness. I really have to push myself to get something in my stomach. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
