@ Lipstick Lady, I never ever do expect sympathy from people, I don't complain about stalls, and of course I'm not looking for anyone to congratulate or encourage me. I never expected to be condoned either but I am. So with this being said, I have everything I need, and I'm Happy in my own skin, and Im just sharing my experiences with other's. I know that there are people out there that wonder about certain things that's why we all joined this forum. I do gather a lot of knowledgeable information and never knock anyone down. If I read a post like I wrote I would probably respond by saying something like "Thank god you're okay and did not experience anything horrifying," Every"BODY" is different, what is good for you may not be good for me. Think about it. and goodluck on youre journey for I have been blessed a million times over with mine. 1 month post op and Im down 35 pounds. i feel and look amazing.

I'll spare you a ton of the details since this is your post, but my family/parents were not the best role models when it came to healthy eating either. And sometimes, when I'm having a pity-party type of day, I will bring blame back on them for passing along some of those habits. But, now I'm an adult and I know what needs to be done, and all blame falls back on my shoulders for getting myself to where I am today.
Talk to your mom. Air everything out. And maybe, now that she's post-surgery and more health-conscious too, you'll have someone who understands everything you're going through and can help you in your journey as well. And if she can't be supportive, find someone else you can rely on.
And one final note, be aware of where you're posting. I haven't seen size 16 in many years, and when I get there I'm going to feel elated, wonderful, and successful; not "gross."

@@losing-it I have decided to go with the Bypass. The decision was hard but I prayed and feel it's the best procedure for me. I was leaning toward the sleeve at first because it's what's popular and what everyone is going with these days. My surgeon, pcp and endo all recommended the bypass but I was fighting hard against it. I finally gave my fears to God and trust I'll have a complication free procedure and smooth recovery.
My main purpose for this surgery is to get healthy and get a significant amount of weight off. Although the sleeve is popular I'd have a better chance at that with the bypass. Both are great procedures but I think it comes down to your habits. I've found that with the sleeve at about 6 months out most report that they can eat whatever they want (in small portions) and begin to struggle to get remaining weight off and fight regain. It seems that what they then have to do to get the weight off, sounds a lot like what someone without surgery would do to lose weight.
Now don't get me wrong I'm ready to work my tool but let's face it, why am I getting this surgery (tool) if I eventullay have to fight has though I have no weapons. I'm sure there may come a point where people with the bypass feel as though they have no tool but I think if or when that happens I will have surpassed my goal.
Sorry for the long post but that's how I looked at things when I decided...that added with the awesome words of encouragement from @@MisforMimi and others helped as well. With Gods grace I know I'll be fine and despite what everyone says and feels about the bypass, I'm not going to let those fears get in the way of me having a happy and healthy life. Good luck and hope you decide what you feel is best for you ????
    I'm booked for May 27th!

Wow, really?? I have lost weight many times, sometimes the right way others through fad diets and doctors assistance and then gained it back like most of us with weight problems. Having the band was a HUGE commitment, I was able to maintain my weightloss for 5 years until it eroded through no fault of my own. Having the band I was forced to reduce intake but isn't that what the sleeve has done for you? I have struggled with my weight my whole life, I was 190 lbs when I got my band and lost 60 lbs. I loved it, looked great, felt great. It wasn't easy but it helped me eat with moderation. Which is something my mind and body apparently don't know how to do on their own. I had to eat 6 small meals a day and followed all the rules. If I hadn't been committed I could have been eating ice scream or milk shakes and junk food which as so happens are band friendly vs eating healthier options of food. Why are all of us on here then if we can achieve weightloss on our own with diet and excercise. Do you think I'm so stupid that I don't know that is what I should be doing??? Why did you get the sleeve couldn't you just follow your dieting advice from above? Just saying? I don't know why I choose to be fat? If I had the answer to that I would not be here. You wouldn't be here. I am 200 lbs and I don't want to gain more, I do try. I diet, excercise, do it for weeks, don't see results or stuff goes bad in my life and I quit. I don't know why, why doesn't my brain get it??? Wish I knew, I have been on a journey to find those answers and don't know why I was born without the will power and ability to eat healthy and moderately on my own without the need to have a band or sleeve. I'm glad that you have shown true commitment and didn't need the sleeve because you were able to diet and excercise on your own....oh wait, I forgot, you did get the sleeve. I wish you nothing but success in your journey. As for me, I still struggle with the fat monster who for my entire adult life seems to get lost, but then finds me again. He must be online and keeps track of me through Facebook....LOL

The reality is that the band is just a tool. It's not the overall factor in your weight lost or any of ours it restricts us so we can learn or regain the disaplin we once lost or never had when eating. It's a restriction tool after that is done then it is up to us to eat healthy as god intended not as the fast food chains have. It is up to us to go work out run weight train and be mentally prepared to switch up the routine when you reach your platoe. I'm sorry I'm not being negative and no disrespect intended but this is just being weak which once was the cause of obesity. Regain momentom relive your experience and what it took for you to get to your 100 pound weight lost and then you will figure out what steps you need to take to further your journey. Good luck buddy we are all in this together.
