I should be so happy right now ?????
janinemaire posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, everyone here is so inspiring and helpful. I have been reading peoples post for weeks now while I have been going to all my doctors appointments and have been getting some great advice. I even had to get my gall blader out and I didn't care because I knew after everything I was going to have my surgery. Now I finally have a date Nov 1 and I'm having second thoughts. Even my family are saying things that aren't very helpful. I think deep down I know I really want to do this but how come I'm feeling so upset about it? I also already miss my comforting friends; pizza, vanilla cake, and wine. I'm I crazy? Please I would love some feedback, Janine -

Thank you for everyone's advice, I did listen to it. I bascally let people who were being negitive know I was doing this, I'm excited and I do not want to hear anything that was going to upset me. It worked! I think I can deal with not having certain foods for a while but I need to know once in while I can treat myself. I read one women's post said she has pizza once a week, that's will be me. Thank you again, everyone here is so amazing and helpful, Janine -
I think everyone here is feeling the same way. Excited and nervous, I just keep saying I can't want till Wednesday. We will be home forcing ourselves to drink according to other posts I read. I started a liquid diet today,(yogurt, pudding, etc) I am already hungry. Good luck to eveyone doing their surgery this week, please post how you are doing. Take care Janine

Vicki, thank you so much. I feel more relaxed after being on this forum and hearing from you. I saw you had the lap band twice, up until a month ago I was going to do the band. It seems a lot of people have problems with them. Does already being through gastric surgery help you not be so scared? I try to respond quick but I have tons of homework to do before the hospital, I'm 42 and in college I do my life backwards. I'm glad were sleeve buddies I was afraid i wouldn't have one. Janine

I had my final weigh in today, I lost 3 pounds, with a total of 9 pounds. Not so great but its a start, only 120 pounds to go LOL. I had a complete break down when I got home from the doctors today. I do know I want this surgery but I felt feel so scared. Things after are going to be so different. One day at a time, I guess. Saturday I start a liquid diet, not bad only two days. Which includes real chocolate pudding (not sugar free) on Saturday, But after surgery for 2 weeks, a liquid diet with my Protein shakes than I can start having 3 oz real protein. It doesn't have to be blended just cut small. Also a lot of Vitamins and pepsid (I think thats the name). How about your diet? Are you doing okay? I can't wait till it over. Vicki, you were right- they really don't want me to bring to much to the hospital. Talk to you soon, Janine

janinemaire replied to MrsMaddBroadway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm having my surgery on Monday, I'm so worried about a leak, do you know how long until scar tissue forms? Plus I only have a week off from work. Thanks Janine -
Vicki- I know I read the people having to be on clear liquids for two weeks before and I feel bad, I'll be lucky if I can not eat after 12 the night before my surgery. I have to go tomorrow to a nutrition class and should get all my information then, I'll let you know what they tell me. I just can't wait till one week from now. I told my kids the doctor said they have to wait on me for a month, no cleaning or cooking, LOL. Their not falling for it. Take care, Janine

Thank you for the advice. Hope everyone who is having their surgery next week is not so nervous. I'm trying to just focus on what I have to do today and I'm trying not to think about the surgery to much. Anyways, I gained a pound yesterday when I went back to the doctors, I have been so hungry. Is anyone feeling like they need to eat like its their last meal? Take care, Janine

I am not at all prepared, I don't even have slippers. I have not tried a protein drink even though I told the doctor I did. The unflavored protein powder what do you mix it with and how much protein per serving does it have? Last week I was more nervous, I think we are going to have a lot of mixed emotions over the next few weeks. This board has been the biggest help, knowbody else understands. Thank you and good luck on the pre op diets, Janine

Hi, I'm also going Nov 1. I am starting to feel less nervous and more excited. But that can change at any time. I just want it over with. I don't have a clue what to bring. I'm not even on a pre-op diet, Also wondering, how long are you taken off from work? Good luck, Janine

Full time student, will surgery affect study ability?
janinemaire replied to tiffnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Great question, I am also a full time student and have one class to finish by Dec. 7th, then I'll be starting full time in Jan again. My surgery is Nov 1 and I cannot fall behind so I hope someone can answer your question. Good luck with your tests, I'm going for social work but I know how hard nursing classes are. Janine -
I should be so happy right now ?????
janinemaire replied to janinemaire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi again, thank you for your replies, they are encouraging and makes me think I'm not crazy for feeling depressed now. I'm usually so postive but I'm just worried, I guess. Even today my sister in law came over (I'm divorced but I'm close with my in laws) and she said "I wish you were doing the band and I could get sepsis" and on and on. My mother died from septic shock after kidney surgery, but she had a lot of health issues. I just have to keep myself busy ths week. Vicki, I just saw we are doing are surgery on the same date, how are you feeliing? Janine -
This time next week ?!?!?!
janinemaire replied to Cleosan52's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow that is so great your almost there. I just got my date for Nov 1 and I'm excited but second guessing myself. I hope that is normal. I'm new to this site but everyone is so helpful. I like your comment to begin with fresh start in life, this is so true. Hugs and prayers to you, Janine -
Any Novembers yet?
janinemaire replied to mumwithnobum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm new here! I have about 120 pounds to lose and I'm planning my surgery for November but I don't have a date yet. I'm feeling so anxious about how to plan for work, I have a daycare and can only take a week off. I know that sounds crazy but I will have help, so much of the day I still can rest. I am constantly reading these boards and everyone is doing so well, it is so inspiring. Good luck to everyone. Janine
