  1. i'm still pre-op,but i need to know if there is a rule of thumb when to start Protein shakes, how much to take, and for how long the Protein Shakes are needed to be taken? it seems not everyone drink them regulary.
  2. a bodybuilding friend suggested one and i already ordered a Variety Pack with 16 different flavors to check them out...... ......i think it is the same as yours. 100% Whey Gold Standard | The 100% Whey Family but it seems not every package size has all flavors.

i'm pre-op too,and i so know what you mean!! i have the same problem, and to add a few more my left knee and right foot hurt constantly from the weight.(bmi 51) the only thing i can do after work is eat and sleep an hour or so. i know it's not the healthiest thing to do, but exercise or walking seems impossible,at least for now.......
  5. i'm a couple of weeks pre-op and the closer i get to surgery i'm thinking of the strangest questions.....so here is another one. i'm reading a lot of post-op stories and something they all have in common is that most people stop eating when they feel a full "signal". it is never a satisfying full feeling in the description...... so,don't you get this satisfying feeling anymore? ....i'm curious.
  6. cool foto, i always wanted to see what it looks like when healed. thumbs up! :thumbup1:
  7. my surgeon put me on a pre-op 1500 calories diet, which is the first time in 42 years that actually work and also give me a full feeling after every meal!! some restrictions, yes. no sweets,carbs....but i'm never hungry. i already lost 12 lb in 2 weeks... don't get me wrong i will have sleeve surgery later this month, I'm just thinking if it is still the right thing to do. after that i think "of cause it is,you won't last forever on this diet..." ... my insurance cover it so money is not something to consider. my wife (bmi 25) is supportive, not trying to talk me out of it,but i can feel she would prefer me not doing it. my bmi is 51......
  8. I'm scheduled mid to end January, and i think i have read a lot there is needed to know. a question i have is how bad is the chewing process post-op? by bad i mean chewing should be "well done" but how much is good enough? and what if it is not done well? it kinda makes me sick only by thinking to chew everything until it is really in a thin liquid form.....if you know what i mean.... and it is not something i can learn to do,like eating slowly,it just won't get down in this state. i have tried 15-20 chews on a bite of steak and that is as far i can go....less for soft food. hopefully it will be enough.... any thoughts?
  9. trying too hard can also trigger a stall. i can't remember exactly how much, but taking less than 1000-something calories/day will trigger "starving-mode", resulting in not burning any fat anymore. this can continue if the needed calories are not taken.
  10. my doctor called me 2 weeks ago and asked me if i want to do the surgery the next day, cause someone canceled and he could do me instead. (no diet then) i couldn't cause of my work,so i passed. we meet a few days ago, scheduled finally for mid-end January, and he gave me a 1500 calorie diet till surgery....... someone else i know did sleeve surgery without a pre-op diet. ....go figure.... it seems everything is possible...??
  11. hello, i am scheduled next month, and my doctor warned me that i should not lift anything heavy for 6 to 8 weeks. sounded reasonable so i sorted that out with my boss because my job need some heavy lifting. (80-120 LB per item moving/lifting a couple of feet) i talked to someone yesterday who had VSG last April. he told me that i won't be able to lift the same weight as i did before, because except of the fat there will also be some muscle tissue missing..... ...and if that wasn't enough.... at least for 4 months.... :drool5: can anyone confirm this?? I'm afraid surgery will mess with my work..... EDIT: to make answering easier..... were you sleevers able to lift the same amound of weight 6-8 weeks post op?
  12. thank you for all your answers. it seems "my guy" did something wrong, he also mentioned the word "impossible" and freaked me out...... all i need is to be as strong as pre-op, 8 weeks post-op,and from your answers it seems do-able.....thanks.
