  1. Hi BrownDoesAll,

Sorry it has been so long since I signed on, my success is very dependant on EXERCISE!!!!!!! I know that to lose you have to burn, the diet is necessary , but the exercise is tantamount!!! For one I find it is keeping muscle tone so as the body shrinks its not as bad to look at. I have some sagging skin , but I know that when my weight loss tappers off, the resiliance of the muscles and the memory of the skin will work in my favor as it has so far due to exercise. Plus you just feel better after releasing all of those endophins!!!!!

  2. I had the can't fit on the rollercoaster experience summer before last and trust me it was humlitiating to have to get off in front of countless people I didnt even know , but most importantly in front of my friends I was at the park with , I wanted to vaporize or dissapear. I played it off saying I really didnt want to get on anyway and that I dont like rollercoasters that much, but deep down inside I was so embarrased I wanted to put my head on my mom's shoulder and get my cry out !!!!!! .

My co-morbidities had me taking medicaitions and experiencing all kinds of pains , so no its no joking matter to be obese. VSG is saving my life , thank God for this blessing !!!!!

  3. For me it will be like any other day , focus on getting my protein in first - no problem we are having turkey , then I must have some veggie , "if " there is room for anything else I may have a dab , but my stomach tells me when I am done and it doesnt take much for it to get to that point. I have no real cravings for all the cakes , pies and such anymore so I am not afraid and the thing I do crave now is the burn of a good work out , so I plan to get that in regardless of whats going on with family gatherings , I first have to get my sweat and burn !!!!!! And they understand and get it now , so I am have a testimony to share this holiday of how truly "Thankful" I am !!!!!!

  4. wish for you a speedy and great recovery, I had no issues and left the hospital on the third day. They make sure you have no leaks from your tube, if all is good and most likely it will be, and you are able to sip your liquids you 'll be on your way to start your new journey!

They did weigh me right before surgery , so you will probably be weighed as well ! Best Wishes!

  5. I am three months out , and I feel fantastic! I have lost 55 lbs and I wouldnt change anything about this decision !!! I am not breathing heavy anymore , my aches and pains have subsided, I am not sufferig from edema like I used to , my blood pressure is normal again , I no longer wear size 18 I have reversed the scales and am no longer in jeopardy of hitting 300 lbs for the first time in all of my adult life my weight starts with the number 1! So no , I dont feel an ounce of guilt, shame or remorse!!!! You are worthy as is anyone who wants to take control of their destiny and protect the temple God has given them !!!!

  6. I see no shame in saying I made a decision to improve my quality of life and to opt. for longevity! Our co-morbidities were killing us so why be embarrased for make a positive step towards eliminating one of the key factors? I definitely don't think its the "easy" way out, to me its a "brave" decision. I have tried almost all of my adult life , I have always been on a diet and to no avail never saw my problems cease. So for those who want to pass judgement I reply , "I hope you never have to walk a day in my shoes, because I wish this on no one!" Even with the sleeve its not "easy" we do work at learning our new patterns and learning to work with what we have!

  7. moodyredbone, it all gets better and you will be so happy about this decision !!!!!! I am three months out and everyday I am so appreciative of the opportunity to take my life back and feel better physically and about myself. Hang in there and make sure you are getting your protiens and I suggest taking Biotin to keep your hair skin and nails healthy as you loose weight rapidly. Keep in touch!

  9. I took pics (posted on my page) the night before my surgery 6/26/11 and on each anniversary date of my surgery every month. On the pics you can definitely see the changes I am going through. I also took my measurements along the way too and even if I hadnt my clothes tell the story! All of my fall and winter clothes from last year are too big, I can no longer wear 16/18's I have moved into 12/14's my goal is to be in 9/ 10's by January. So keep track of your weight and measurements month to month so you have some idea of your progress , best wishes !!!!

  11. Sweet Toni, I think we all have some degree of fear and angst of the unknown, anytime you are having a surgery and being sedated you have to have faith in your surgeon and the medical staff attending , I know I prayed about it and put in the Lords hands and kept it moving. Everything turned out execellent !!!!!!! I am so happy I made the decision , I am 3 mon. post op and I feel absolutely great !!!!!!!! I was a 16/18 and I am now 12/14 ,even though I dont see it my clothes tell the story and my breathing is not rough and loud anymore. Hope this helps , keep the faith it will all turn out fine!!!!

  12. Sweetybabs! So happy for you and your decision to take your life back and live it to the fullest! You deserve to have wonderful "shared" moments with your family and not be a spectator in their lives. Best wishes to you in the journey!!!!!!!!

  13. PhatGurl80, congrats on your journey, trust me it gets better. You have assisted yourself in the physical portion , now its the mental part you have to figure out. Be assured that food isnt going to cease to exist anytime soon, and it now becomes a source of fuel for you and not a prize/reward. Tomorrow I will be officially 3 mons out from my surgery and I can honestly say my relationship with food has changed! I never thought so much about protein and a balance in my diet as I do now, before having a meal I am figuring the nutritional value and how it will help keep me balanced for energy and appearance. Trust me you will get to the point where food is not one of your constant thoughts. Great you are already thinking about exercise , I do Jazzercise no less than 3 or 4 times a week and I walk at least 40 mins a day on my lunch hr at the mall, I want to keep tone while this weight sheds.

Best wishes for your goal being realized!
