  3. glad you had that 'talk with yourself"-its hard at first - you are on the right track- get those necessary fluids, protein et al in - - be eating more "normal" soon -

WLS was/is worth it - one year PO - 101 lbs gone forever - GOAL

life IS good - good luck - look forward to a wonderful healthier, happier new year!!!

  4. jennie

good for you, get rid of clothes that are too big, putting clothes away that are presently too tight, starting a blog, Utube!!!! I love the "writing yourself a note pe-op" you are definitely mentally prepared for this WLS :)

probably already know this, but - take measurements and pictures through your journey - you'll be amazed at how things change

if you do as well on your food prep, dealing with your food, drinking etc etc etc. - girlfriend you will do great!!!! So happy for you :)

FYI - i meant to do all the above one year ago, didn't follow through - sob sob

    DOS 12/15/11

as far as your concerned - - great start and future toward health, and happiness with WLS!!!!

your DOS 12/11/12 - right around the corner - good luck, speedy recovery :)

  5. congrats on your successes, you have been in onederland for awhile-you have lost almost 55 lbs - concentrate on that!!!

when is the last time you were under 200 lbs??? we all lose at our own pace - this is not a race - you have your whole life ahead of you - slow and steady.....

remember, its AGAINST the LAW to compare your weight loss, time it is taking you to lose weight, don't ever ever compare to others

you've made a couple of oooops, oh well - every day is new-you can do this-stay on program, drink all your water always-- be strong

    (how's this for tough love)!!!!

  6. hi there

i think you are doing great

your NUT did put pressure on you, telling you could lose 58 lbs by the end of the year, go at your own pace, and don't feel pressured - do how you are doing - which is terrific

i can eat bread, i also love sandwiches, - had one slice once - just didn't feel it was worth it - so i don't have bread anymore

you've been around the block enough to know we all have our stalls - we gotta ride them out

its hard to see a before and after picture - and really see a difference with yourself - but trust me i see the difference and you look great

in my case - i just watched as the numbers on the scale were going down - i never took my measurements, boo hoo - one day i looked in the full mirror after my shower - i stared and said "wheres my stomach?"

as far as being able to eat anything - as long as your doing your protein, measuring your calories and carbs - you know when to stop eating - you can't ask for me

    your pictures are great

    take care

  7. newbie - hi there

    don't usually read/post on blogs - but i saw yours - here i am

don't worry - fluids rarely make people full

once you start solids - you will feel your new tummy getting full like its supposed to

good luck with your new sleeve - you'll love it

8 months 87 lbs down - sleeve was the best decision i ever made

don't get discouraged - good things in front of you - patience

    kathy

  8. hi SpecialK1960

i met with a group of "heavier" people saying they gained weight after the birth of their children.

i said me too. "oh how old is your daughter" i said 36 lol

thats my only attempted jokethat i tell sometimes. maybe you have to be there. oh well

not usually read blog - but when i saw you and your blog, i quickly raced over to say hi

    kathy

  9. hi Melissa

congratulations on your pending sleeve - we're all excited before being sleeved.

I was one of those horrible people that did go on a food "funeral" eating way too much - like i was never going to eat them again. its not true that you can't have whatever you want later after surgery, just in small portions.

i'm 6 months post op - never never eaten a sweet, cuz that is my BIG downfall. i don't want to eat a "little" bit, thats like teasing myself.

My advice pre-op concerning the food, you can eat a little more before your WLS, but don't overdue. i regret pigging out too much. whats done is done.

6 months post up im down 75 lbs - 20 left - so i've done pretty well.

some people do lose some hair. i was one the lucky ones - that didn't have any problems with hair loss.

the subject has been spoken of the board - so write a question.

my other regret is that i never did i BLOG. you've obviously got that covered -good for you

    best wishes

    good luck

    kathy

  10. hi there - what a nice post. it is so exciting to be were you are - all set for surgery. glad you chose not to fear the unknown I've gone through many orthopedic surgeries - so i wasn't scared of another sugery. you will do great. my thoughts are with you.

i do wish you luck today, tomorrow and always. - your new life is starting into sleeveland. It sounds like the real you has always been a wonderful person, that will continue, you'll just be healthier, happier and as a bonus, a little thinner too. good luck

    kathy

  11. the idea of doing a DVD is good.

I have a lifetime membership to a gym - and i don't go often. So you are not alone in that

i can totally understand about you being so busy - and then going to see your mom. you must be exhausted. Try and go on a sunday

    don't be hard on yourself

congrats on going to a support group, things will happen in there own time

    good luck

    kathy

  12. at one point a couple of months ago, i realized i had a "small pouch" I said thats ok - its not too bad at all. well now i'm at 6 months - 75 lbs. down - my pouch is getting alittle bigger. Well i've got a a bit to drop my last 20 lbs. - afraid it will be bigger by then. Oh well, if this is the price of getting healthier - its ok by me.

  13. Lyra

hi there. i periodically "lurk" through the blogs. Your title about shopping intrigued me. Glad i read it.

I'm down from 235 to 160 - thats totally amazing for me. I want to lose another 20 lbs. to be at my "proper" weight for my 5'3 height.

I also don't know what clothes size, pants, blouses etc. that i should wear. Just too "shy" to look around the stores, not knowing where to shop.

Hey, I live in Syracuse, NY - want to go shopping w/me next weekend . My clothes are so big on me now, need new ones, no nerve yet, but i'll get there.

    take care

    kathy

  14. hi autumn

its so ridiculous, i've heard it said before by ins. companies. Basically you have to be "sicker" to be covered by ins.

should have diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure - woopie now that you have all those problems you can be approved. Or of course you could gain weight too.

I was approved by ins - how lucky was i having all those medical problems

whose sicker, us or the insurance company

  15. right after my WLS - my NUT told me to get as much protein in as possible w/shakes. My NUT then told me that its very difficult to get in so much protein at such an early stage. i was even told not to dwell on the protein, but drink, drink as much as you can, ie H20. most important to stay hydrated. the protein will come in time, soon, but concentrate right now on drinking many fluids. also popsicle are great, counting as a liquid. keep up the good work - everything will come together, and your wonderful journey will continue

OMG - give yourself a break - at 4 days many, many people are still recuperating. walking very slowly, sipping water - this is what many newbies do. For you to walk around the block - thats probably ok, but don't overdue it. No marathons, you are recovering from MAJOR surgery. Give yourelf sometime - and you will be there with the other losers, but you'll be a winner.

  17. thats so great, i've just started 12/15/11 - i know you've been around the block for awhile. I'm afraid that i can't handle to cheat a bit cuz i'm afraid i'd refer back to my "bad" eating. Who knows maybe one day i'll have a few bites of something here and there i probably shouldn't have.

but as far as you are concerned - you've done great, and now another 10 lbs.

    cudos

  18. Sounds like your doing great. I have been on glucafage (msp) these past 6 years, it was beginning to interfere with my kidneys. So i started insulin about 2 months ago :o( I saw my GP today, and he said all is looking good, will have some bloodwork end of january, and prob will be off medicine (also high blood pressure and high cholterol (big time msp) I'm so excited about this.

Sounds like you have a great DH,asking all those questions and stuff :o) my WLS was 12/15/11- so i'm right behind you :o) Take care and see you on the posts.

hope it was ok - to peak at your blog. thanx kathy
