  6. oh no, what cords and injections? lololol do they get you up soon after you're out of recovery? do they make you drink, and can you keep it down? and when you're home do you have trouble keeping H20 down? Do you have trouble getting 8 glasses down daily? What about later, a few weeks later, prob getting your Water in? after the surgery how much pain are you in. does the liquid pain med taste awful? what position do you sleep? i have heard its hard to sleep, for example it took a while before they were able to sleep on side. Is it better sitting on the couch instead of laying down? i'm trying to read alot on the web, and the info you "posters" you write are very helpful!! Oh, so many questions, so little time ) lololol surgery 12/7 - just can't wait, so very excited!!! - kathy
  7. hi back at ya o:) you got liquid pain meds, i have to take my meds 2x a day, i have epilepsy - is it a prob taking pills - the sleeve is supposed to have no probs with absorption, but is there a prob taking, swallowing pills - i see my dr. next week, so i'll ask - i'm so very anxious. not worried at all about the surgery - concerned about what i need to eat and how to eat, and what to eat. i actually liked a shake i tried, unjury, i tried the vanilla packet - is that something i can have alot preop to get a jump start on losing a few lbs? And i can have that postop too? thanx for info. kathy

  9. I will wear the 2 gowns also, thanks for the info. I haven't had to worry about "the girls" since 1998 when I had to have a double mastectomy -2 good results, no more cancer and no more bra ) ever!!! little reconstruction, didn't want to go big at all, so i don't need a bra - yeahhhhh!!!!! Put your legs up in a machine? how long was that? any other "weird" things they did?lolol How long were you in the hospital? I thought my dr. said it would be only overnight, does each doctor vary, or did i just misunderstand? 2 days - 3 days? can you tell me what briefly happened as you approached surgery and then after - my surgery for the sleeve is 12/7 , i'm so excited, i hope the time flys by. hubby and i are visiting my mom in CA november 11-16. Medicare

i have medicare as my primary coverage, but empire blue cross as my secondary. MEDICARE does NOT cover the sleeve yet because its relatively new (few years or something. ) Medicare DOES cover the lapband and gastric bypass. (but i want the sleeve) My surgery for the sleeve is 12/7 - medicare will send the "official" denial for the sleeve after hospital sends bill, empire needs to see the "official" denial first, and then empire looks at my qualifications in having the sleeve. I have all the qual.. (BMI, diabetes, high chlolesteral, and high blood pressure, and sleep apnea (aren't I lucky???!!!) The insurance companies know that Medicare doesn't cover the sleeve, but they need the official denial after the surgery. Then the other insurance company can proceed. I know this sounds weird, its the beurocracy (msp) but thats how it was explained to me. Empire does cover the sleeve - so they told me after all the paperwork is sent in I will be 99% positive I will be approved. They can't officially guarantee it for obvious reasons. But they did tell me unofficially of course that everything looks fine. so the bottom line is MEDICARE doesn't cover the sleeve, no if ands or butts, but your secondary might cover it, like my empire blue cross. hope i've helped - without confusing you too much - write back w/any more questions )

    New Sleever

To answer your ? you can still have surgery if you have sleep apnea. In fact its one of the "qualifications" that will help you be approved for surgery, like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesteral - I have all these problems - having the surgery will alleviate these conditions, sometimes totally get rid of the problem. As far as sleep apnea, the surgery should help considerably - possibly getting rid of the sleep apnea. My surgery isn't til 12/7 - very excited - like i said, surgery will help the problem. good luck kathy
