ProudGrammy replied to massindex's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Mark 250 lbs gone, are you kidding me??? I'm speechless - that never happens to me (ask my DH) wonderful story, but sorry to say - whats NPR?? its probably getting old - people telling you what an "amazing, wonderful, inspirational person you are!!!" - but you are all those things!!! i just won't embarrass you by telling you that!! pre WLS - eating too much, then getting depressed, eating too much et al - yes vicious cycle that i think its safe to say we've all been there riding your bike so much - all those races - other exercises too!!!! you sound like a "wild and crazy guy" congrats on raising $600.00 - "forcing" you to run that marathon good luck Sunday CONGRATS on alllll your successess!!! -
Hi I am new to this fourum I hope I can figure out how it works
ProudGrammy replied to Jessica Fenton Parks's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi Tex (aka newbie ) glad you are feeling better after having hernia operation at same time as sleeve - that must be difficult to deal with recovery - but you did it congrats on your weight loss, many more lbs will follow, as well as your improved health and happiness best not to weigh yourself daily - then won't be disappointed if you don't lose weight one day - wait for a "surprise" each week when you find out that you've lost but if you didn't lose weight one week, thats ok - the world WON'T come to an end - their are stalls you will read more about them i know what you mean about pictures i used to hid from the camera too sounds like you don't have a NUT, am i right???? do you know the important Water rules ?? don't drink for 1/2 hr before you eat - don't drink while you eat, don't drink 30-45 minutes after you eat - and drink at least 64 oz of water can your surgeons office direct you to a support group??? or you can look into a group on your own - this type of support can be very helpful - and others can give good info about your eating questions but keep coming back to this board - you'll get plenty of info here we don't bite (not usually ) continued speedy good recovery see you around the block -
Pre-Op Second Thoughts
ProudGrammy replied to triciavr77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi "pre" newbie there are people here that will tell you about their complications, how they regret surgery because they DID have problems - might as well be upfront with that!!!! 99.9% of sleevers will tell you how wonderful the sleeve is - and their only regret is that they didn't have the surgery earlier i'm in the above category - i feel "indebted" to my sleeve alllll surgeries have their "possible" complications, but IMO you/I can't live in fear of what the "unknown" might bring i was only concerned about the "known" which in my case was that i was 100 lbs overweight!!!! this excess weight was taking a toll on my health and well being, i was miserable 13.5 months post WLS (at goal) -medical probs are gone, no more diabetes/insulin/med - no HBP meds - CPAP - knees feel great!!!! look hot too one healthy happy camper!!! i hope you DON'T 2nd guess your wise decision for the WLS good luck -
hello im 23 and need some support
ProudGrammy replied to lalabi99's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi laura welcome if you are 1/2 as nice as your picture - you must be a terrific person getting lots of info preWLS can be overwhelming glad you found this board ask your questions, but keep your eyes open by reading lots of other posts, you'll be surprised to see that many people have similar questions as you do then you'll see many questions/answers about life during and after recovery we're pretty nice, and we don't bite (not usually ) take care - come to the board as often as possible we love to see new people take care good luck -
Newbie looking for guidance
ProudGrammy replied to KDT8402's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
KDT8402 Wow - you are doing great preparing for WLS - your enthusiasm is contagious!!!! "tips" as far as Water - drinking is one of the most important parts of your new life style after you've been sleeved, you will probably/might not be able to drink much at a first - you can use those little "ounce cups" that the NUT has - always sip slllllowly immediately PO you must drink as much as possible so you don't get dehydrated after a while, you will be drinking easier, take your time - never push yourself early in the game you need to drink as much as possible soon - 64 oz to be exact throughout the day - sounds like a lot - but do your best!!! its necessary I'm not a cook either (i used to make a mean bowl of frosted flakes ) Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies (i'm not proud ) getting info, eating better, going to the gym - you are all hyped up keep those feelings alive going til WLS - then for the rest of your longer, healthier, happier life you rock!!!! take care bud -
Erin what a refreshing post nice to hear an "i'm doing great, thought i'd share" kindof post thanx for asking about our week-end mine was great, after reading your post, just got better - thanx bud you might enjoy being a loser - but i can tell you are a WINNER!!!! continued good luck

Down in the dumps
ProudGrammy replied to danyellhoweth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
danyellhoweth 24.1 lbs - thats how much weight you've lost in 40 short days!!!! WooHoo like all my predecessors said you are doing great, walking, eating right, -(patting your tummy at the same time too??) you are losing perfectly don't worry, don't be hard on yourself - its true - we didn't go to sleep one night, all of a sudden "heavy", same respect to waking up one morning..and all of a sudden be thin- won't happen no way no how!!! weight will continue to come off - you/we can hurry the weight loss process with your proper eating and exercise, but the truth is - the weight will come of when "it" is ready to god grant me patience, just hurry up about it keep "up" the good work, while you watch your weight go "down" good luck -
BMI=obese/no comorbities
ProudGrammy replied to vegasrn27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
vegasrn Welcome if you have had BP and sleep issues, make sure this is documented (i'm sure your doc did this though) if you get a hangnail have your doc write that down, - its probably due to your weight thats what my mom always told me, "anything" bad that happened to me was cuz of my "excess" weight!!! I have heard that people might "need" to gain some weight to raise their BMI a bit - but 25 lbs???? i think thats pushing it - to have to gain about 25 lbs so you can lose 100 lbs or so - sounds the more things you can write down/show that you have problems with the better your case will be. more problems the better!!!! sounds awful i know only you can make the difficult decision, chosing to gain weight to "improve" your approval chances???? you still will have to go through a bunch of hoops before you get approved, unfortunately many don't get approved even if they do fit most of the requirements - you could force your gain weight - then be told "sorry" look further into being self pay - you might chose this route to avoid the possible problems by the ins co - and they might not give a positive response anyways sounds like you are ready/excited to be sleeved - great decision get your thoughts together on how you will proceed, and get movin' best of luck to you -

I'm. 4 week in and I going down the wrong path?
ProudGrammy replied to miiszsexy171's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
miiszsexy i "think" Amazon meant to nicely say you should listen to what your NUT says, then you won't have any reason to question if you are going on the right path - but its always nice to receive a good luck encouragement, so i'm glad you received that its true none of are professionals, we're just normal, wonderful sleevers like you we give support and advice ,general conversation and good info too, and importantly we are here to support all - especially you Newbies - come on, come on - you know who you are!!!! when there is something more medical/technical involved, we suggest you see your doc/or NUT talk to your NUT about more suggestions to eat - at the beginning, and later too, it can be hard to get a good variety of food in but, i know you can conquer all- you ARE on that right path - no wrong turns allowed watch those road signs eating small portions, exercising, losing 27 lbs Kudos!!! talking to your NUT is always a good idea for info/reinforcement good luck -

The closer to my date, the scareder I am.
ProudGrammy replied to Rycherchick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Janice worried about your 13 yr old & 26 year old kids, that's crazy??? i don't think so!!!! it think we will always worry about our kids (my daughter is married and 38 - then of course worried about the grand-kids 12,9,4 also. so this WLS should be a piece of "cake" your surgery is Wednesday OMG - you have every right to be a little "concerned" many people get scared of the thought about anesthesia and surgery it can be a scary thing - you are having major surgery. all your feelings are understandable butttttt.....keep talking to yourself, assuring yourself, or family/friends to give you that extra encouragement do you have help family et al when you come home - i know your kids can help, but anyone else??? if not, thats ok i have faith that you WILL come through this without a hitch you will wake up, come to the board with all your questions and tell us your experiences!!! as far as your phone # - i just posted the number on a billboard good luck bud speedy recovery -
