ProudGrammy replied to sr910's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Webchickadee 2nd thoughts, doubts???? this happened to me this morning when i was trying to decide on a scrambled egg or yogurt inquiring minds want to know......i had the egg seriously now folks SR910 these emotions, being scared, nervous et al - happened to me and many many others - very common you are excited on having the WLS - you know your life will start to change for the better I see how smart you are - please don't continue to 2nd guess the wise decision you made months ago you went through a long, involved, hard process went through allll the hoops to get to where you are in being able to get WLS march 5 its ok to be nervous, scared, but try not to let it get the better of you this board is here for you and all other pre-sleevers alike once you get the sleeve - you won't believe how much healthier and happier you will continue to be having few nerves are worth it in the long run - considering what your new life will be like happy sleeve day good luck speedy recovery -

ProudGrammy replied to Cookiemonster73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
laura-ven - Ms. AntiBand so........tell me when was the last time you had your head examined?? from what i read, MOST "normal" people - including me - disliked "strongly" their Protein Shakes i tolerated them while i was supposed to drink them i do make them on occassion now cuz i'm minus protein for the day - but i bought this large bag of frozen fruit , i put about 1/2 cup in blender with the powder and milk - tastes a little better ok, now that i've dissed the Protein drinks - everyone else who likes them raise your hand ok - i see one, anyone else raising a glass of Protein shake to your health - now YOU drink it -

feeling hope slipping away
ProudGrammy replied to docbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
docbree sorry you are losing a little "hope" involving the WLS - being concerned if you will medically/mentally are a good candidate for the surgery its good that you are putting yourself in your doctors good hands, believing, trusting her judgement i can tell she is looking out for you that being said - you must think of/for yourself - you are the MAIN one that should make this important decision but....going back in circles - MAYBE your doctor is more objective, and you have/should take her advice, go through your thoughts, and hopefully with her help and maybe others you can come to a good decision concerning the surgery maybe she thinks you should just wait a year or so?? you/we all need to be "mentally" prepared to take on this big WLS - we/you have to follow a very rigid program for the rest of your life!!!! i heard a similar comment from OP that a dr. was concerned about a present pre WLS problems would get worse through surgery???? for me - ie diabetes, high blood pressure, CPAP, knees - all these health issues and more usually improve, and often these problems disappear - no more meds etc. - for me those improvements happened I didn't experience acid reflux (gerd) - maybe on an occassion - but nothing on a regular basis i hear this bad issue is usually alleviated also in other words, i don't understand why a dr would say certain things might go "downhill" if you have WLS? Alllll MY medical issues no longer exist as many many many others in the entire world - i do "suffer" from depression (feel like i'm in a "confessional" and you are all the priest?? many many many people in "our" situation, being heavy et al - are depressed, low self esteem from appearance due to their weight - stuff like that my therapist once said something like "half the world is in therapy, the other half SHOULD be this "problem" of depression can/may improve as you lose weight (for me) it did starting to feel better about yourself etc. not for all maybe, but losing the weight totally improved my self-image i wake up looking forward to each new day good luck -

Valentines Day it seems like every year in the past - i was always on a diet - beginning of the new year et al i NEVER wanted chocolates, (wanted) but didn't buy this year...... i got a phone call from a "cleaning agency" they told me DH had called sending "help my way" ???!!!!! Everist?? enjoying your family/friends - life in general happy surgiversary many, many more great years to follow for the rest of your longer life thanx to the sleeve congrats on all your success "I wanna hear from you...." well.....since you asked, i'm never to shy to say my stats  DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 present 133 lbs goal still 5'3 -
Hannah55 sorry insurance denied you you MUST appeal!!!! if they still deny you - i think you can still appeal one more time just because you don't have an official "co-morbity" yet - having BMI over 50 is very unhealthy the insurance company seems to want to wait til you are "officially" sicker, with a co-morbitity before they will help you its so frustrating to you, upsetting i think "all of us sleevers" are upset with the crazy insurance companies - the "trouble" that some have to deal with to be ok'd by ins. its just their rules/requirements to be covered for WLS you must stand up and fight for yourself - no one else will good luck wish you the best

5 months out, hungry and eating more- help?
ProudGrammy replied to sramos89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
scramos89 congrats on your weight loss sorry about your hair falling out - common side effect it does grow back, but i know that doesn't help you now - feel better in the fact that hair loss is VERY VERY common try "biotin" its a pill and does help the hair situation as far as hunger, being able to eat more - that does happen after certain time periods for many (i was about 6 months when i noticed a difference) but, saying "nicely with caring thoughts" you must/should measure your food out always if your NUT says to eat 2/3 a cup per meal measure that portion and put on your small plate - that way you are not "testing" yourself in seeing that you are able to eat more ONLY put what you are allowed to eat on your plate - no seconds otherwise, the food police WILL come after you - "they" are everywhere you are still pre-goal, measuring is a very important rule at 14 months - goal - i still measure foods that i haven't eaten before other more common foods for me (just made chili) i know how much my proper portion looks like in my bowl without having to measure also, "ever so nicely" reminding you that you must get your 64 oz of water in a day. very, very important to follow ALL the drinking rules stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat - don't drink with meals - don't drink after meals for 30-45 minutes - need to follow exercise too??? many, many/most people exercise while losing weight, and to maintain in all honesty i didn't exercise enough while i was losing weight - crazy i know but........now i am exercising - better late than never, right try not to be discouraged (easier said than done i know) you're at a little stall "it" will get better good luck bud -

Extreme fatigue-is it my age?
ProudGrammy replied to DebLW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Deb We all react differently post surgery. "we're" never supposed to compare ourselves with other sleevers in regards to anything ie if we are/were tired i turned 58 the month after surgery - i was tired the first week after surgery - after that i was fine "your/my age" MIGHT add to being tired, but i don't really think so tiredness??? this too shall pass but for now - if you are tired still for awhile - go with "it" - pamper yourself and get plenty of rest after work take a nap, relax you'll be back to your ol' chipper self in no time - won't be tired "if" you forgot, you just had MAJORY surgery!!!! otherwise, hope your recovery is going well ahhhhh - big stretch and i'm yawning too it happens to the best of us good night, sweet dreams take care -
