    Worst Case Scenarios

bettyboo you obviously have done your "homework" read alot from the board - maybe a book too!!!! hearing about such things as being a little sick, gas, drinking problems et al good for you that you don't want to only see through those pretty "rose colored glasses" some people go into surgery without much/any knowledge kudos on reading and learning in order to deal with the wonderful sleeve being all prepped up for WLS have you already gone through all your pre-op tests, have a date already??? or i you strongly considering the sleeve - and wanting more info??? hope to see you around the neighborhood good luck kathy

    Redundancy

JustinNC congrats on losing 112 lbs!!!! Terrific!!! i am 19 month post op - at goal I "respectively" disagree with your post sometimes - it does get tiring hearing all the "redundant" questions concerning stalls, bowel movements, vomitting, et al many people skip over the topic headings of "stall", vomitting, et al thats ok and understandable some/many silly people asking "hmmmm, its day two, and i just had 3 slices of pizza, is that ok???" they know its not ok!!!! "what kindof silly newly sleeved person would do such a thing??? People can/and should search certain words/problems but - i think they need/want someone to talk to, reassuring they will be ok they can't "hear" a book - or the search area sure its crazy that they ate that pizza, they are aware of that, NEWBIES are people too!!!! the mistake is done and over with - they just want to hear from others they "still will live" there are people that might "yell" in essence saying how stupid are you??? what good does that do???? BUT............... I remember when i was a newbie i was thankful that these questions were being asked and answered!!!! to many OP (me included) you/I appreciate a direct response to my own personal question you feel like someone is in the next room - being concerned/talking to you - trying to help you/me we are here to support each other thats the name of the game but i sometimes feel like "we/me are paying it forward" - helping other newbies et al - "they" were there when i needed them to all newbies and OP go ahead - ask your questions!!!! we're here for you, regardless............ but..........please don't eat that pizza yet kathy

    GETTING MY SLEEVE BANDED...

LuLu you made the wise decision to have the sleeve you've done well the first 7+ months you lost 73 lbs thats great i can only imagine that it must be frustrating being at a stall for 6 months!!!! it does sound like you are doing everything right exercising, eating properly (trying to up and down the calories) you didn't mention the Water situation - but you are probably following those rules too? as art said - they do the sleeve to gastric bypass IMO having a gastric bypass is never a good idea (thats why i/we all chose the sleeve) gb has malabsorption problems, messing with your intestines - no thank you - not for me but.........the procedure has been done my doc said the days of the lapband are going, going almost gone!!!!! there are so many problems with the lapband - as OP have mentioned!!! i don't even think they would do a lapband over the sleeve i have heard of people stalling for a llllllllllong time but i agree that 6 months must feel like an eternity!!!! but what's 6 months+ in a lifetime??? you're a "young un" at 27 years old as they say - you have a "lot of living to do " keeping up your hard work - the weight will come off - eventually sorry its taking so long - your sad feelings are understandable but don't give in, being upset, then head for the refrigerator and fast food places you've worked very hard - you know what to do!!!!! talking with the doc/nut is good OP suggestions to track calories et al, drinking, Protein et al support groups are helpful too come back here and get more support - that's why they "pay" us the big bucks good luck kathy
  10. baniwala welcome!!!! i see you joined our "little" circle a few hours ago (we used to be the "big" circle ) 22 lbs down pre-op - 36 lbs down since surgery 58 lbs total!!!!! party dance, party dance you are now in twoderland!!!!! WooHoo holy moly girlfriend you are aces!!!!! great pics keep "up" the good work, while your weight goes "down" good luck kathy congrats
  11. txbucki some people have problems tolerating certain foods a common food many people have problems with is eggs chicken is also mentioned for good or bad I never had any problems eating anything as far as Protein bars.............. Quest bars are spoken about as being good many people, including me now - treat protein bars like a "drug" they are addicting, eat one, can't, don't want to stop!!!! dangerous for me to have around the house for me - staying away all together is my choice kathy

    i might die

ElyQuint feeling tired, low energy after a few days is perfectly normal sorry your boyfriend is being "alitte" insensitive instead of supporting you it must be torture having a boyfriend who is a great cook i "think" i've seen a couple of chef's on here - don't know how they work with the sleeve? eating properly, it must be so hard being around all that food on a permanent basis per your bf - "if your making bad choices, you are going to die????" are you kidding me??? what an awful thing for anyone to say!!!! do you have support from others/family, friends et al??? hope you do you know your bf is torturing you, you already told him!!!! tell him again!!!! my favorite dr - Dr. Phil says something like "if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem!!!!" your energy et al will get better, hoping your boyfriend does too!!! good luck kathy

    High BMI Tennis in Progress

fpmr96a good for you, becoming more active prior to surgery you sound so "gun ho"!!! if you want to continue to prepare yourself for WLS, maybe you could try a couple of the below stop drinking about 15-30 minutes before you eat stop drinking Water while you eat do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat drink at least 64 oz a day cut your food into bite sized pieces chew thoroughly put utensil down in between bites eat very sllllllowly you could start measuring your food these are just a few examples that you must follow post-op you have a great attitude i see your healthier, happier, longer life in your near future you will do great!!!! take care good luck kathy
  16. ashbhey you are doing magnificent!!!! great pics Onderland??? Surgeon trying to talk me into band.

bigbeauty78 this must be a difficult time for you - wanting the sleeve - doc pushing for the lapband doc sounds pretty adament that he prefers the lapband even if he DOES say ok to the sleeve - i can't help but think his heart isn't into it i wouldn't want "that" doc to have my life in his hands repeating what others have said - many docs don't want to do the lapband anymore there must be a good reason years ago, it was either gastric bypass or the lapband - they were both supposed to be terrific we know of the malabsorption problems with the gastric bypass and the lapband has so many problems, erosion et al (to be fair, i never had the lapband - but i hear all these awful things concerning the procedure) conversion from lapband to sleeve??? hmmmm, why do you think so many OP have this done if there were no problem with the lapband??? we're the sleeve board, so we're all biased towards the sleeve, but................ we all made the wise decision to have the sleeve, cuz its the best (and so are we ) just that your doc is trying to pull you towards the lapband i would run/not walk away from his offic there are many surgeons in the sea find one who likes the sleeve - (that shouldn't be hard to to do) good luck with your sleeve procedure!!!! you will love it take care kathy

    23 and really strugling

darlingkassy welcome gotta tell you girlfriend .....don't misunderstand, but........... you are "everyones" worst nightmare!!!! seeing a fellow sleever gain back their weight but.........its good to confirm/show us that it is possible to gain the weight back!!!!egads  many/hopefully most people realize weight gain back is possible we tell ourselves it can't happen - but most of know better we have to work hard with all the rules we followed earlier so we can maintain i think its good to hear stories like yours, because it makes me/most of us realize that working with the sleeve is a must for the rest of our lives we always knew that - but i think many/some NEWBIES think once the weight is off - its permanent well it IS permanent - as long as we follow the lifestyle with water/protein et al that we've been taught I think many/most VETS are more aware/scared of gaining weight back knowing that there is/could be a prob with weight gain, is half the battle I/us most/all of us have always yo yo'd not able to keep the weight off now we are finally being given theis "tool" of the sleeve - we must abide by all the rules forever and a day!!!! guess i'm just repeating this to myself - because its so important - and i'm trying to convince myself of something i already know (about the possibility of weight gain) we've all gone through so much to lose this weight - KEEP it off my meds, comorbities are gone - i never want to go backwards!!!! I can't physically/mentally afford to go back to my old lifestyle I have in the past said this "spiel" to myself - to remind myself to stay on track!!!!! we/me still goof up sometimes - but hopefully/usually bounce back soon now............to finally answer your question darlingkassy  my suggestion to you/and any of us in the future who fell off the wagon,,,,,,, go back to basics with the Protein shake drink as much Water as you can maybe stay on liquids only for a week - full liquids for another week this will give you that push, to start your weight loss again when back on solids - chew everything to death, eat very very slowly stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat never drink with meals don't drink for about 45 minutes before you eat again drink at least 64 oz of H20 a day!!!! i'm repeating these essential rules in case you don't remember them, since its been a while since you were doing things correctly do some exercise - walking is great if you are just getting back into the groove glad you came here - we all do support each other, thats the name of the game the first step is the hardest and you made it by coming back here, realizing you have a problem, and wanting to go forward you can do this!!!! come back with any and all questions i'll be on the lookout for you glad you are here good luck kathy
  23. dpeeler28 I am sure you are NOT the only one that has some problems attaining goal within the year but.................. good that you realize that you gotta get away from those bad habits (easier said than done!!) 1/2 the battle in fixing a problem - is acknowledging it, then running with it!!!! you have 16 lbs til goal - you will get there!!!! BUT once you get there.............. your "battle" is going to continue you will have to be strong and keep obeying the "rules" (Water et al) most/all of us have been successful losing the weight time and time again the hard part is keeping the weight off (i never could ) gotta stay strong - and eat and drink correctly!!! ok - end of lecture you'll get to goal sooner than later stop your bad/old habits - or else!!!!! happy surgiversary!!!! 81 lbs gone!!!! keep up the good job good luck kathy congrats
