posting pics for 1st time - 8 lbs from goal
ProudGrammy replied to Oliver's Mom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oliver's Mom great success 66 lbs gone those last 8 lbs can be stubborn, but yes, they will come and go before you know it you look great in both pics - but the red sox one is terrific sorry you "lost your head" (i have heard this can be one of the more serious side effects from the sleeve ) keep up the good job kathy congrats -
Am I still welcomed here at Vertical Sleeve?
ProudGrammy replied to mswisdom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
mswisdom please stand by your above "wise" statement the tests/hoops you've already gone through "should" be "transferable" to any procedure, inc. the sleeve if you are told you might be delayed, a month et al................ don't just give in to save a little time, or you are sick of all those hoops the sleeve is a wonderful procedure if you have the sleeve - "if" it reallllly doesn't work with the heartburn situation (hopefully it would fix prob) people have gone from the sleeve to gastric bypass but as OP say, heartburn is usually improved/erased with the help of the sleeve please don't "jump" into a major life changing situation with any WLS i'm sure you know this, but the gastric bypass "messes" with your intestines - and you have malabsorbtion problems/issues neither of those problems are an issue with the "wonderful" sleeve good luck kathy -
SUPERG827 OMG you and DW are doing terrific i am thrilled that "you" are thrilled bet you are both feeling healthier and happier keep up the gerat job good luck to you both kathy congrats

Am I still welcomed here at Vertical Sleeve?
ProudGrammy replied to mswisdom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
as OP have said - go see another dr its true that all surgeons have different thoughts once you are post op WLS - whether it be the bypass HOPEFULLY the sleeve - different docs will follow you post op, giving you different instructions, rules All NUTS are different too on the board that is a common conversation i love your name - mswisdom show/use your wisdom - talk to another doc - and maybe another sounds like your "wisdom" is showing you the right way - to having WLS with the sleeve stand by your convictions don't be intimidated by your "prospective" doc, or any other doc - or other people in the world in general good luck kathy -
cynthia4722 hmmmmm we're the same age so its ok if i ask you, "are you having memory issues as a side effect of WLS???" I could NEVER forget i no longer wear plus sizes kathy congrats

ProudGrammy replied to lilbearzmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
libearzmom OMG look at you!!!! (i know, old pic, but still i know you look amazing) glad your stall finally broke!!!! 129 lbs gone, gone, gone but never ever forgotten!!! i always want to remember "how I was", so i can tell myself - "no way do i ever want to go back there to that life!! ) I'm sure you are feeling so healthy and happy may you continue to be as happy in your future - as you are this second kathy congrats -
hi Cheri i usually take a couple of sentences from a post and make that as my quote can't do that with your post - because i enjoyed everything you wrote it does bother me sometimes when i see a person tell a newbie in essence you dummy how can you eat this or that - messing with your new tummy sometimes posts sound a little harsh, but really aren't intended that way but if someone did say something, not in the greatest "voice" shame on you you can't "see" someones facial expression on the board as they write something hopefully/usually it isn't sent maliciously above being said, when i was an early early newbie - i made a response to a post someone PM'd me and made a comment about what i said i interpreted as something "mean" i wrote back nicely, and she rewrote in a better way, and i THEN understood no harm was meant i think i am just repeating what others have clearly stated btw Cheri - you look so little and cute oh,wait a minute, thats the baby but you look terrific too kathy

Teeth correction needed as a VSG vet?
ProudGrammy replied to Fiddleman's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Fiddle During VSG i also started paying closer attention to my teeth also One of my front teeth was "teeny, teeny" bit shorter than the other post goal i desided i was FINALLY worth it to get situation corrrected!!!! of course i was "worth" it before, didn't feel it though Finally spent the money on two caps!!!! they look great as many of us, i always ran from the camera now i hog the camera being at goal, great lookin' teeth and new smile what more could one ask for??? one more thing Fiddle hmmmmm - getting "older"??? 40 in a few years???? OMG - where does that put ME on the age monitor I'll be 60 years YOUNG in January but................since VSG i agree............ 60 is the new 40!!!! hot grammy remember!!!!! (Fiddle, you know i'm just teasing you ) don't worry neither you or i will be an ol' fart any time soon!!!! keep smilin' kathy -
flyme_places OMG i wasn't "checking" myself out that much never measured myself (gigantic mistake) one day after my shower - i did look in the full length mirror turning and staring i all of a sudden seriously said something like, "OMG my butt is gone!!" well, it was kindof there all the skin was sagging back there believe it or not post op, goal, few months later - that area has definitely toned up a bit but excess skin is definitely there the official tushy is gone, gone, but not forgotten kathy

AmberDawn nice to see you and all my fellow december sleevers again love to see this thread re-opened at times my, my - don't we all look great!!!! Amber you are doing wonderful your exercise program is very impressive i'm "alittle" ashamed to admit that exercise was never one of my big qualities its hard to know/imagine what people look like at 50, 75 et al weight loss well, i know what 103 lbs looks like now when i tell people from out of town, "you"/they just can't imagine!!!! look at my profile if you like, thats what 105 lbs look like!!!!! its ok to "brag" a bit, right??? we all deserve too after all our hard work we've done, and will continue for the rest of our healthier, happier, longer life keep up the good work luck on your continued success kathy congrats

Anna079 one bite, teeny, teeny bite is ok - THIS time raise your right hand and say you will never do this again, and you won't have 3 slices of pizza tomorrow (or the next day either ) sleeve joke - you'll understand one day i have heard that a side effect of the sleeve sometimes is memory loss (forgot about not being able to eat mac & cheese) the memory loss problem might be true ......but i don't remember take care bud good luck kathy
-
RIP Started by Aries, Yesterday, 8:16 PM you did a "gotcha" to me!!!! i saw the title of your thread - and i said "oh no....." did you put flowers in the area of your old tummy/rolls?? 82 lbs down too!!! you are aces!!! kathy congrats
-
determinedsleever70 71 lbs down!!!! (some of that maybe pre-op??) terrific job i cringed when i read what you doc said "about his job being done" i get what he said - but i don't think that he was right/nice about what he said he knew you were having problems, he should have guided you better with a little info - or tell you where you could go you weren't required to see a NUT ................ will insurance cover one?? if ins doen't cover, can you afford to go at least once ???? NUT would give you paperwork/pamphlets with LOTS of info, answers to your questions this info would be very helpful/nescessary - Vitamins, Protein, Water et al sounds like you should be eating more at almost 3 months PO - if the shakes make you sick - don't even try them anymore you should be getting protein from your food greek yogurt, cottage cheese, egg chicken, fish, meats can't improve on all the good suggestions given "above" by TwinsMama/cindymg et al chew thoroughly, stop eating - then try again very slowly, small bites you must eat!!!! glad you are losing weight, but you must try and keep your strength up per your smart fiance (he chose to marry you, right!!! ) you are probably dehydrated  you say you are drinking "lots" of water 64 oz at least??? it would be great if you could meet with a NUT and maybe find a support group (surgeons office should help you with that) take care bud feel better good luck kathy congrats on your weight loss

Good books for the emotional aspects of post-surgery?
ProudGrammy replied to stacechase's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
stacychase wow - looks like you are have WLS one week from today - August 19th!!!! you are probably filled with excitement, and maybe a few nerves too another good book............ Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies!!!! good luck with surgery speedy recovery kathy -
Well, I guess this is going to be my gastric sleeve story.
ProudGrammy replied to EllijayFalconFan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Travis Welcome to the neighborhood always great to see a new smiling face your enthusiasm is great being active now - thats wonderful!!!! things will only get better!!! read the board, you'll get alot of good info that will help you pre-op, and then post op ask your questions too!!! good for doc on being able to keep up with the questions i am a mother and i have an 83 year old mom too - so i get it about all THOSE questions watching the calendar - waiting for September 13th, is like waiting for a pot of Water to boil but, both do happen!!!! glad you are nipping your weight problem in the bud - before you "might"/do get health issues I think you've already started your new life by looking into the sleeve, and proceeding with having the surgery but.....officially - your new life will start on 8/13/13 - a day you will always remember good luck speedy recovery kathy -
k8ee sorry you've been in a 6 week stall venting is good - gets it out of your system for the minute I agree with Sydney Susan that getting more sleep sure couldn't hurt!!! you'll probably feel better in the morninh it must be hard when you don't have anyone "in person" you can talk/vent to about your situation but..........."we're" here looks like you are following all the rules, waiting up to an hour after you eat before you drink again - drinking plenty of Water, getting in proper calories and exercise too!!!! you are doing great!!!! this stall will break!!!! it has too telling you to "just hang in there", well its true - but........easier said than done!! People have said something like shake up things a bit "maybe" increase your calories IMO by the time you do that - and maybe it will be successful - the stall might have run its course anyways wish i knew how far out you are, how much weight you've lost from a profile, ticker hint, hint this info helps OP give suggestion/help besides "we're nosey" I know things will work out!!!! I feel it in my bones!!!! good luck kathy God Grant Me Patience Just Hurry Up about It

ProudGrammy replied to Debra Rodriguez's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Debra i see you just joined welcome to our little community!!!!! waiting about 5 months til WLS????? ahhhhhhhhhhhh - good things do come to those who "weight"!!!! you'll find lotttttts of good info on the boards there is a search button top right hand area - always good to use check out a couple of good books WLS for Dummies also theres a good book you can order from "here" too with great reading prepping you for WLS probably as time for WLS gets closer - you might practice eating in moderations, drinking alot, plus much more good luck kathy -
too easy???? i've had many operations - so the WLS itself, didn't concern/scare me i wasn't too concerned about eating and drinking properly post op things did go well with all (no sickness, vomitting, gas et al) my concern from the beginning was always......... "how the heck am I gonna be successful and not only lose the weight, but keep the weight off forever and a day For me, once i reached goal 10 months ago - thats when the hard work starts................... and my new wonderful life continues!!!!! gotta keep following all those "sleeve rules" (Water, eating, portions et al)for the rest of my life - so i can keep my "girlish" figure!!!!! don't look for trouble!!!! glad things are going so well for you kathy
