Need to loose ten pounds
ProudGrammy replied to rocknrollmama1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
rocknrollmama many docs tell their patients to lose X amount of weight prior to WLS put yourself on a liquid diet drink Protein shakes, stuff like that post WLS - you are gonna be drinking like that for awhile - so give yourself a jump start you'll get used to the Protein drinks, get used to the liquid phase you are going to have to endure sooner than later you can lose this weight - your success also shows doc how determined you are to having the WLS, following the ruies et al good luck take care kathy -

Heyher sob, sob as billy joel would say "only the good die young " sounds like those jeans are super special in your heart  i would keep them as a "reminder" of days past i never kept my old clothes, i wish i had when i reached goal - i had nothing to show from the past i went to the plus size area at Kohl's pulled out the 2X blue jeans i always bought (common pair of jeans, easy to find) went into the changing room, took my jeans off and put the big ones on - i just stared at myself in disbelief then i took them off, put my regular jeans back on - with the 2X over them - i didn't know who was in the mirror bought the 2X - walked in a daze to cash register, and sat in my car for about 10 minutes it was an out of body experience i am keeping those jeans forever in my closet kathy

keea LOL you are definitely NOT the only one that does daily weigh ins if i had a donut - ahhhhh i mean a Protein shake for everyone that weighs every day - i could open my own store!!!! "i get upset if i dont loss weight... crazy" mannnnny people tell you/me to hide the scale, it will drive you crazy - get rid of it et al if you are watching the scale too much - being upset if it doesn't move correctly - then i would "make" myself/force myself to get on the scale only once a week that being said.......... i have always weighed daily, and will probably continue to do so I need to make sure that i'm staying at the right weight it fluctuates sometimes - 2-3 lbs at the most won't let the weight gain get any higher people have been shot for less as far as the mood thing - i don't know, i never had that problem - (cuz i'm so wonderful, sweet and perfect!! ) but i hear stuff about hormones maybe affecting different things good luck kathy

Sherri297LOL you remind me of myself when i go to the line in the grocery store that says "15 items" i am the one that will go there with about 20 items i always jokingly say to the cashier "I hope i don't get "in trouble/arrested for being here"!!!! one person promised not to turn me in, THIS TIME!!!! go ahead - enjoy the veterans board i won't tell anyone that you haven't posted 100 posts yet!!!! 100 lbs down - congrats btw - i'm pretty sure other people sneak in too!!!! nsquared 114 weight loss!!!! great!!!! sorry you are at a stall but......you do know that your stall will eventually break - and you will lose those 40 darn lbs sorry you are at a stall but......you do know that your stall will eventually break - and you will lose those 40 darn lbs good luck kathy

7 months out and falling off the wagon, help!
ProudGrammy replied to kristikay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kristikay i'm full of that!!! - (encouragement silly! ) Realizing you need to get back on board (accidental pun ) telling yourself - and your fellow sleevers your situation it took courage to do that - I see you are "full of it" too!! as OP said, and will in the future - go back to basics Protein shakes (gag, gag ) but you should start there you'll get lots of necessary protein track anything and everything you put in your mouth - even if its that one m&m drink, drink, drink and then drink more eat your healthy chicken, fish et al portion control used to be my biggest weakness measure your food - be accountable to yourself with MFP i know, i know, you fell off the wagon (hope you didn't hurt yourself ) you have been successful - good for you you have such a pretty, smiling face - (its contagious!!!) I can see it in your eyes how much you want this!!! the determination, et al many/most/all of us have slipped up a bit but i see you are proudly standing!!!! all set to go forward!!!! good luck bud kathy congrats on your weight loss -

does it never just not work?
ProudGrammy replied to sclark's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
sclark i always knew this board was filled with smart people (after all i am a member ) you'll usually/mostly/always receive great advice and much support too of couse you will be eating so few calories, you must/will lose weight if/when you eat as your told, and follow the many rules there shouldn't be any reason for not losing weight since you are new with food questions, heres a reminder of important stuff (you probably already know this but) drink as much as you can - 64 oz at least stop drinking about 1/2 an hour before you eat NEVER,EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less ) do not, not, not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat always eat your Protein first (chicken, fish et al) - about 60 gr others comments also, you shouldn't use a straw, no soda (carbonation prob) i say the above with "do whatever your NUT tells you" eat small portions chew thorougly eat slowly, putting fork down between bites some NUTS might give different time periods/instructions ALWAYS listen to your NUT/surgeon first (then me of course ) i'm not even gonna mention the M&M's or chili thing i'm sure you were suffering from temporary insanity ) all the bad stuff you mentioned..... knock it off!!! i have confidence in you newbie good luck kathy -

ProudGrammy replied to marienicole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
cannot get all my fluids or my Proteins in hey newbie welcome, welome you'll get a lot of great info here we're here to support you, give you advice - help guide you with poblems you and you tummy are starting the slow recuperation period Water should get easier to drink as time goes by its more important to drink, then get your Protein in at this early stage of the sleeve you said "everything you drink/eat feels like a brick in your stomach??? what are you "eating" at 7 days out??? after my WLS - i was on Clear liquids for a week, then full liquids, puree, soft, then sllllllllllowly went on to solids for me, many others we couldn't tolerate anything substantial 6 days post up talk to your surgeon/NUT they are there to help you good luck kathy -
would you like to get 20.00 of your vitamins read below
ProudGrammy replied to lowe1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
would you like to get 20.00 of your Vitamins read below see you took the time to do a ticker, pic et al but i don't "think you are a really sleeve person, right" ???? this is a "no, no" post right this is my 2nd time seeing this "offer" from you!!! we're not supposed to advertise on this board KNOCK ir off, pretty please - you nice person kathy -
when you stopped your PPI
ProudGrammy replied to Momonanomo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Momoanomo sorry you've had some vomitting issues related with the PPI as OP, my surgeon prescibed prilosec - told me to contine taking - call if i were to have problems i don't see any reason for me to stop the med "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" please don't experiment with lowering the dosage, tapering/weaning yourself off the PPI speak to your doc about your vomitting issue, problems - thoughts of stopping the PPI let him tell you what to do about your medical situation doc is the professional, not us on the board listen to your surgeon and nut before you listen to others but............listen to what i say take care good luck kathy -
frosty you didn't mention ie any problems of gas, vomitting  hoping there were no issues - great!!!!! one thing we have in common is that we are all different ie peoples weight loss, how much you lose, how long it takes no set rules or promises i have seen some sleevers here have surgery on friday, and go back to work monday!!!! others are still tired a week later, and a week later and a............ its good that you were able to walk initially, but your body might just be rebelling saying, "hey i'm still sore" your tummy speaking again - "remember we just went through major surgery " i'm not ready for a 5K!!!!) "give me a break" ahhhhhhhh, words of wisdom, from you new tummy and the rest of your body walk around the house slowly, day by day - walking/slowly your body will tell you when it can take more walking/exercise maybe one day you'll just keep walking, and you'll find yourself in NY at my doorstep what a treat that would be for me!!! instead of coffee - we can share a Protein shake or two post surgery, most important thing is to continuously drink Water drink and drink, and drink some more gotta keep pushing those fluids even if its only a sip here or there, little bit at a time, slow and easy i agree with OP -you can't afford to get dehydrated protein is secondary to drinking in the early days in "NEWBIEHOOD" don't know if you work outside the home, have kids to care for - stuff like that.that................. try and pamper yourself as much as possible for a bit (naps et al) who deserves it more?? it might take awhile, but you will gradually feel better, stronger i'll bet my last $ on it!!!!! you are officially at the start line of the track gun just went off!!!! keep walking, there is no "finish line" with the sleeve you will be successful, attain your goal - but keep on keepin' on with your eating and drinking for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life you will continue for the rest of your healthier, happier life you will improve day by day good luck kathy

Sheril can only imagine how you must be feeling problems with ovaries, possible cyst, cancer must be scary i hope you have a support system - DH, mom, siblings et al having the hysterectomy will hopefully help/solve your possible problems i had a hysterectomy yearsssssssssss ago - don't remember any effect between weight gain and the surgery but............maybe meds you get for a bit, might cause weight gain first things first.............. have the surgery, get all fixed up - you must eat, drink and keep yourself strong don't worry about the POSSIBLE weight gain - take care of yourself with surgery first later, get back on the horse, you know what to do - I have confidence in you you lost 125 lbss i'm sure you will be able to continue your great weight loss, and feel terrific congrats on losing 125 lbs good luck with your surgery healing thoughts being sent your way hugggggs kathy

Surgery a week apart
ProudGrammy replied to emttina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
emttina there was a recent thread about family/spouses getting sleeved together its amazing so many people go through this wonderful experience together between the two of you - giving each other well needed support!!!! can't get much better than that sending you both many many good thoughts you are broaching on an amazing journey there will be ups and downs, bumps in the road, but thats to be expected - its natural you have a couple of weeks prior to WLS you might find yourself getting anxious, nervous, excited all normal emotions take a deep breath, let it out - and WLS is over then your new life begins you will enjoy health, happiness and a longer life with the help of your new best friend the sleeve good luck to you both kathy
