    The Joy! The Joy!

Madam ahhhhhhhhhhhhh its the little things (or big?? ) that make life good!!!! continued daily improvements kathy congrats
  2. hey dude, where have you been nice to see you since there is less of you to "parade" around - probably why i've missed seeing you always nice for VETS to speak up and remind newbies - and others too.............. how wonderful the surgery is telling people you had no major issues, recovered one day at a time - at a good rate this is stuff people considering WLS / or newbies can read about in books et al always nicer to hear success stories from real people (even you ) thanx for taking the time write continued health and happiness in your longer life kathy congrats
  3. hun, sorry you are feeling so sad, disappointed et al you do know why you had WLS as times passess - you will remember all the reasons you went through this as your weight drops, your health will improve i no longer take insulin/meds for diabetes - high blood pressure gone other health issues of mine have also improved/resolved co-morbities always improve, but many, many, many times "they" disappear!!! you will feel better about yourself, allowing for even more good changes your life is going to change!!!!!! but you have to work for that change!!! there are some other people that have "buyers remorse" right after surgery you are not alone!!!! you made the wise decision to have this life changing major surgery please don't doubt yourself now your aches and pains are not being minimized - but i'm so glad you didn't have any serious/major problems many/most of us understand the "unfortunate" feelings of being naustious, tired, feeling bad all around can't say enough that things should/will improve is anyyyyone around for you to talk to??? mom/hubby/friend??? when you feel a little better (which you WILL)................ call your doc/NUT and find the name of a support group if you had surgery out of state/country - no doc or NUT to call???? call your local hospital just tell them your situation, just had bariatric surgery, looking to reach out to others for help/support/advice i'm sure they will be helpful people that you have things in common with are very helpful, not only now, but as weeks, months et al pass ONLY drink Water right now your poor little tummy was just invaded its very sore, and you must/should/need to treat it with TLC please don't drink anymore sugary stuff - or any soda crackers - or even puree til you are given the ok things get better as time passes could be as hours pass, or days - but you will feel better gradually all the pain was nothing???? the pain was/is for everything good you will be experiencing as time marches on don't worry about Protein right now - that will happen for right now - no one can emphasize enough the importance of drinking (no sugary drinks ok ) you are starting the journey to a healthier, happier, longer life feel better, so you can enjoy the ride hoping for your recovery to improve daily we are all here to give you support good luck kathy

2 Year old had VSG 2 years ago.

JerseyGirl i totally agree!!!! as OP said (me too earlier) if parents "misfed" him before - let him eat whatever, fast foods too but such a quantity for a kiddo i can't imagaine to weigh so much curious if his parents are overweight?? its true - a 2 year old can't drive to kentucky fried chicken, taco bell et al parents are responsible unless there really is some sort of medical prob that allows him to keep gaining weight if the parents step up to the "plate" ............. teach him all the rules, Water, portions etc. he has a chance at his young age, if this lifestyle is instilled in him, that will be his new life (eating healthy and correct portions) hope his recovery was ok i don't know about this, some of us have problems with WLS - hope he didn't have vomitting issues et al kathy

    Cruises and eating

PdxMan Its been awhile Nice to see your handsome, smiling, "thin" body again glad you enjoyed your cruise to Alaska sounds wonderful all that amazing food...........sounds like you handled yourself like a true successful sleever not denying yourself - bits of foods/samples here and there going on the eliptical too!!!! woohoo good for you but.............. for me at pushing 2 years (goal) - i would rather/won't be around that "buffet" too much temptation guess i'm not that strong yet of course i couldn't eat that much at one sitting - but thats where grazing might hit me knowing/being aware of my prob is 1/2 the battle at this time - no cruise for this grammy !! keep on enjoying your new life don't be such a stranger!!!! kathy continued success & happiness

2 Year old had VSG 2 years ago.

JerseyGirl OMG the little one has to be monitored with his food intake, liquids, et al parents must totally supervise such a youngun for many years if they hopefully follow the proper rules.............. why couldn't they have done that before??? its not like "us" who have trouble eating out of control et al in his case - his parents shouldn't have been feeding him so much or did i miss some thing............. was he born morbidly obese hard situation for a yougon to have to continue for the rest of his life then again............. if he learns to eat/drink the way "we all" do he won't realize that "normal" people usually eat more ???????????? kathy
  9. jen14 now that you have another 10 days or so under your belt................. are you doing any better?? able to eat anymore??? good luck kathy

    Slow loser and loving it.

chibabyy so happy, that you are happy "mindset" is very important the way you feel people percieve you - thats important to you/me common/frequent discussion on this site, about do you tell or not that you had WLS this is a very personal decision and you made the right choice for yourself, thats what counts how you/me/we feel about our "situation" we all know saying Protein, veggies, Water, exercising - all valid, true comments you don't owe anyone more information you are doing great I do agree that @ 50 lbs is a great weight loss in 3+ months having WLS on your b'day how cool is that!!!! keep up the good work kathy congrats
  11. mzmbee i totally get what you are saying you know she is on the right track, showing, explaining to you what you need to do sounds like you know she is good/knowledgeable its true of course that that is the most important thing - that she is smart and can help/advice you that being said................ if i continually went to the same hair dresser - and her hair was not cut well, shaped, clean - you know what i mean i would be concerned questioning things too - even though she does a great job on me its like, why don't you practice what you preach??? its true what OP say the most important factor for you - is that she knows what she is talking about (which she does) but the other "issue" i do understand its a prejudice we have had against us but...in this case, it could/is maybe hard to listen to someone telling you how to eat right et al - but she doesn't do it for herself its strange, might be a perfectly good reason, but.......... bottom line, you are understandably allowed your feelings - but don't let it interfere with the fact that she will do right by you good luck kathy

  13. leslie1958 since i was 20, i was very aware of being obese like others i did the many diets....WW, nutrisystem et al these past few years, i kept seeing a dr advertising bariatric surgery on tv i just looked at the tube - watched this overweight couple "walking into the sunset" talking about how happy they were to be getting WLS I looked at this commercial, kindof laughing, yeah right, i'm gonna do this??? one day that "light bulb" did hit me at my PCP's office without thinking i asked him his opinion about WLS he smiled and told me he thought i would be a very good candidate we talked, the rest is history 2 years PO GOAL maintaining past year+, and counting success for the rest of my healthier, happier life life is good good luck kathy

    Do therapists work?

Do therapists work? I heard the expression.............. 1/2 the world sees a therapist the other 1/2 should I started therapy about 5 years ago i was at my lowest with problems/depression et al many of my 'issues" stemmed from my feelings, lack of self-confidence et al concerning my being overweight "Debbie" helped me tremendously as i was thinking/preparing for WLS i continue to see her its good for me to open up to someone other than my DH for me............. its been very helpful, and i still enjoy going now i am perfect good luck kathy

    NEW GIRL

TSB welcome, welcome another newbie to add to the club WLS coming up end of next month thats terrific the excited/scared/nerves - all these plus many more emotions are totally normal been there, done that read the boards here you'll see great questions/discussions about things you must know when you speak to your surgeon/NUT - always be prepared with a list of questions write down all the info you can get do research online - get more facts about the sleeve watch utube - you'll see/hear many interesting stories get what you need immediately post op broth, sugar free popsicles try and find a Protein Shake you like - but don't buy too much taste buds change post surgery - and all of a sudden you might not like the drink anymore you will need to stop drinking soda practice getting used to that also practice not eating with your meals - very, very important work on not drinking for up to an hour after you eat drink as much Water a day as you can (64 oz) working on these "simple" things will be helpful see you around the neighborhood good luck next month speedy recovery kathy

is there a doctor in the house?

Healthy Meyer its good to get advice on the boards about foods to eat, Vitamins, vomitting, gas - all those wonderful common things - many, many other things too you'll get good suggestions, advice and support but............ when theirs any medical situation like you're dealing with - always, always see or call your doc first then come back, and tell us your story repeating what others have said - check this out with your surgeon hope all goes well kathy
  19. quinn this early in the game,4 days+ - it is imperative to get in as much Fluid as possible many op have trouble getting their Water in, but its very, very important some/many of us get dehydrated at this early point (or later) when they don't drink enough water(me ) if you beome dehydrated - you will have to get hospitalized, and they push IV's to hydrate you water will always, always IMO be the most important rule to follow getting in at least 64 oz stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat don't ever, ever drink with your meals wait 45-60 minutes after you eat before you drink your NUT will advise you on her specific time periods of waiting et al always follow YOUR NUTS advice protein is very, very, very important you should/must get all your protein in daily but as most of "us" know, right now - drink, drink - take many sips slowly - force yourself - you can do it hope your recovery is going ok I know you will be successful and continue on the road to healthier, happier, longer life good luck bud kathy

    More Confidence Since Being Approved?

unbesleevable1 great, amazing feeling isn't it who would have thought I never had confidence in myself i know that sounds terrible, but its true kindof "drooped" around now, my wonderful feelings/confidence have gone through the roof i do things (simple things) that i never would have done before shopping - walking around the neighborhood et al i feel great, and i'm cute as the dickens  but - to top it off - people notice the difference "in" me "they" say that having WLS doesn't fix everything you will be the same person still for me - yes i'm the same "wonderful" person - but because i'm so happy with my new life - "it" shows on the outside anyways, i think many/most/all people increase their confidence, while they reduce their weight kathy congrats

    Open sleevers?

Keilsnikof besides my husband, my 5 silblings all live in different states 2 years ago on Thanksgiving we all got to together i told each one seperately my news noing my weight "issues" over the past many years, - they all were very happy for me after WLS and people were seeing "less and less" of me - they started asking how i lost the weight the first time my neighbor asked me, i replied i was eating better, healthier excersizing et al by the time i fininshed the sentence i found myself telling her - "oh, i also has bariatric surgery" she responded in the positive she then proceeded to ask me about the surgery from then on, i immediately told people i had bariatric surgery it was a load of my shoulders that i was being open I was lucky that i never heard any negative responses kathy
