Kayleen i don't see/have any problem always chewing my food to pieces keeps my jaw busy, and so i'm not talking LOL (DH reading over my shoulder ) it is like the "inhaling" of food pre WLS changed to now chewing, chewing always natural instinct for me is to chew its pretty funny when i realize i'm "chewing" yogurt "NEW" habits die hard good luck kathy -

gemi I believe there have been recent Medicare laws improving coverage on VSG in many more states your health will substantially improve as you lose weight with the help/assistance of the sleeve "you work with the sleeve, and the sleeve will work with you" you have to do alot of hard work, follow rules for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life you want to fix those joints et al - the surgery is totally worth it i no longer take insulin/meds for diabetes II - no more high blood pressure meds - CPAP is gone!!!!! I was never warned about any additional risks due to age i had VSG 1 month before my 58th b'day its almost 2 years later - i have lost 105 lbs - reached and maintaining goal 10 months and counting i was 57 years OLD, when i had my surgery after losing my excess weight with the help of the sleeve, i am now 59 years YOUNG best of luck to you and your sister kathy

Can you still eat in restaurants?
ProudGrammy replied to 2ndChanceHeth's topic in Food and Nutrition
indecision you took the words, right out of my mouth 2nd chance, when i place my order - i specifically tell the waiter/waitress to bring me a to go box at the SAME time they bring my food. i pack up the excess food (out of site, out of mind) I will eat the smaller amount left on my plate restaurants aren't a 4 letter word never found a restaurant i didn't like only order/eat healthy, and eat the smaller, proper amount of food (this is what you must do with your new life in general) looks like you are pre-op enjoy getting ready for WLS looks like you are preparing yourself well, with checking things out, gathering info, stuff like that good for you you are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life good luck with surgery speedy recovery kathy -

1 day or 2 day stay, does it matter?
ProudGrammy replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
startingoveretagain the one thing sleevers have in common, is that we're all different!!! many of us have no recuperation problems, but it still might take a week or so before they feel back to their normal self people have WLS on thursday for example, back to work on monday or tuesday others might have a little pain, very tired, some naustious taking a little longer to heal it comes down to the hand you were dealt good luck with surgery speedy recovery kathy -

Julie no profile/ticker (hint, hint ) have you gained??? how much wt do you need to lose???? inquiring minds (and nosey me ) want to know!!!! actual "official" #s are not really the issue the important thing is you are back on the right track now!!! you had major surgery 10 months ago - maybe slipped up a bit but you know you must (you will!!) get back to the issues/rules at hand "maybe" go on a liquid diet for a few days to give you a jump start Protein shake(yum yum ) et al then back to yogurt, cottage cheese et al small portions, chew thoroughly since you are getting back on the horse, i would keep my calorie count on the low side for a bit do/can you still see your NUT or doc for help/advice??? go to a support group what have you got to "LOOSE"??? always gives me motivation might work for you, hearing other situations hearing from newbies and their early struggles swap your stories too, you'll get more involved IMO with the "life of the sleeve" we/you will/must live this life for the rest of our healthier, happier, longer lives i think the Water rules are the most important, and can be the hardest at times to follow stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat NEVER, EVER, EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less ) after you eat, don't drink for around 45 minutes drink 64+ oz of H20 a day have you been watching the boards still??? if not..........keep reading about, ask more questions being 10 months PO - you can spread some of your wisdom around too for NEWBIES et al we can't ever forget this is a FOREVER deal we made with the devil!!! (or angel  ) you can do this!!!!! i know you can!!!!! one day at a time, right???? welcome back good luck kathy

Seizure disorder and Gastric Sleeve
ProudGrammy replied to sunny2day's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
rgrana05 i have been a "controlled" epileptic since i was 16 (thats 43 years, but please don't tell anyone, ok? ) after i had lost 60 lbs - i had a "situation" it wasn't a normal seizure didn't lose consciousness but - "it" wasn't good after blood work "they" realized i had too much meds (keppra) in my system for my new lesser weight my dosage was lowered, and then lowered again when i reached my final goal of 105 lbs down too bad i had to find out the hard way about too much meds but...................having my epilepsy dosage reduced, was something we hadn't thought would happen this is truly my favorite/best NSV kathy -
angelbubbly welcome to the group always nice to see a new smiling face don't live in Seattle, but i thought i'd still say hi surgery on wednesday little nervous/scared/excited??? many/most/all of us go through different emotions before and after surgery prepare yourself for a mental and physical rollercoaster ride its all good you hopefully will breeze through surgery, recovery et al right after surgery, get up soon as possible and walk, walk, walk - no marathon yet - but walking is good, breaks up the gas too drink, sip as much Water as possible sip very slowly for now water is soooo important to all sleevers at the beginning stage - water is more important than even proteins!!!! you might have some normal issues like gas, being really tired and "maybe" you'll be alittle naustious too  but things do usually get better day to day continue to read the boards and get plenty of good info post your questions, comments as time passes we'll enjoy seeing "less and less" of you good luck on wednesday you are on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life take care speedy recovery kathy
