    Having Trouble....

the dreaded HEAD HUNGRIES I have found this to be the biggest huddle for me. Not physical hungry but head thinks your are hungry or you want to eat to be social or in the group. All i can say is, PROTEIN. get more protein and drink fluids like crazy they help me also have a support person you can call during those moments that will remind you of the head hungreries and help you through the moment. Don't be discouraged. We all have to learn how to conquer this evil within us and deal with food for what it really is, nutritents not comfort, not stress relief, not make me feel better, it is only to fuel the body and finding other things to take its place for comfort, stress, etc is a longer road than losing weight. You have the tool here on VST to help you and the support of thousands. You are not alone and we will help you to overcome. Keep us posted on your progress and you will be victorious!!!!!!!
  2. Today I am 1 week post op, feeling good and no major issues. Surgery went very well, doctor stated I had an unusally large stomach and had to make an extra incision to get all the excess stomach out. No pain to speak of, some discomfort - yeah liquid tyenol. Hydration has been a breeze with my handy-dandy time sheet to remind me to sip every 15 minutes, usually 2-3 oz. Protein shakes have been interesting and my taste buds have changed. I truly understand now when others have said "I would do this over again in a second". I feel great and I am losing weight but more importantly INCHES and FAT. I go Monday to the doctor for my check up and will weigh then and start a new weight ticker then. Thanks to all for your support and best wishes.I will post more later. I think it is time for a walk around the block. YEAH ALL SLEEVERS!!!! WE WIN!!!!

Tomorrow is my Surgery day - Yeah

Tomorrow morning at 0400AM I will be on the road to Knoxville, TN 82 miles away to arrive at the hospital by 0600AM to be preped for surgery at 0800AM. Mom and Sister are coming in to day from Virginia to be with me - they are the best. My bestest friend sister will be coming with Sister and I in the morning to the hospital to be there for me. Tomorrow is going to be one of the best days of my life. Emotions are an understatement. I am so excited to have this opportunity to start my new healthier life, I can hardly sleep ( I can do plenty of that tomorrow-lol). No nerves or second thoughts, I am on a mission to a healthier life and a better me. Up to this point, I have losted 58 lbs as far as I know. I hope I can weight at the hospital for an accurate rate. Wish me luck and i will keep you posted thanks
  4. The LIQUID diet helps you the HYDRATE yourself before surgery as this is a major concern after surgery. So if you are HYDRATING well before surgery you should be able to do the same after. My nurse told me to drink like a fish the day before surgery, to get HYDRATED and over saturated for a smoother surgery. I feel like a swishing fish inside with all the liquids milling around. I have a 2 week pre op liquid diet.
  5. Tomorrow is my beginning anew with a fantastic tool to help me on the road to a healthier me. Up at 0400 and the road for 1.5 hours to hospital by 0600AM - prep then surgery at 0800. I am so excited, I can't even sleep. No nerves or second thoughts, just positive karma and a desire to "Git R Done". I have done all the preparing I can, support group in place, house post sleeve proof, journal and extra pens in place-I AM READY TO BEGIN. I know there are a bunch of October 19th ers having surgery tomorrow and I have asked for healing angels for each of you. This is an great day and for the next few months it is all about us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO TEAM!!!!!!!! BEST WISHES AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!! SEE YOU ON THE LOSERS BENCH TOMORROW. :-)

    Shakes before surgery

Each surgeon is different and it would be best if you called their office to see what you need to do to lower the sugar/carb content of the shake. I to adjust as I am allergric to aspartime (nutri-sweet) so I had to get with the dietician for alternatives. Definitely call the doc. Good Luck, My sugery is the 19th too so let me know how you are doing!!!!

    started pre op diet

I am on the 2 wk of the liquid pre op diet, Oct 19th is the beginning of my new life. I had to do the 6 month supervised diet for Insurance too. I started training myself then to eat slow, don't drink during meals and watch what I ate. The Liquid pre op is not as bad as I thought. Only "tummy-growling- hungry" a couple of times. Good luck to you in your quest for a healthier you.
