What are your makeover plans?
Nichelle replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems small and silly, but I have always had long, long hair and never cut it to even my shoulders. I know it's more because I used my hair to hide behind half the time, than me thinking I would look bad with short hair. Next spring for my drastic makeover I would love to cut my hair short and finally donate to locks of love. Plus a new skinny wardrobe wouldn't be too bad either maybe with more shorts and even a couple dresses! Crazy would never wear a sun dress with my figure today, but I've always loved them. We will see!! Oh, Oh and boots!!! Can not forget the boots. I want to buy a pair of claf high boots and be able to zip them up!! OOOOOOOOOOOh Boots! -
Back to normal at 3 months
Nichelle replied to Redcobra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have done the same in the past. Just eat and eat to fill a void that will never be filled with food as hard as I tried. I am currently speaking with two very close friends that each have had bariactric surgery to curb my feelings on how I dealt with food before. I am glad to see you are getting the help you need because although this surgery will change the way you eat it does not change your mind set. It is odd and takes some getting used to, but yes I think the same thing will happen to you as far as losing some of your 'interest' in food. It's just that your not hungry. Your mind may think you are and you wil I'm sure attempt to at some point, but you will realize that you are full and or not hungry. I am only three weeks out, but I feel this was the best and only way to get to where I'm heading. Good Luck -

Nichelle replied to Redcobra's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, congratulations RedCobra I just can't wait to be where you are today. I think you are doing a fabulous job with your diet and it was exactly what I have been looking for on here. Someone that is still losing, doing protein, doing water, but still eating food and good food at that. -
A visual NSV finally!
Nichelle replied to pattimomof3nj's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Holy Moly, you can def. see a difference. You look fantastic and I like the hair cut it really shows your face off. Just think next time they ask to renew your work ID you will probably want to be the first in line to add your new pics of how great you'll be looking. Congrats!! -

I was feeling down so I needed to do this...
Nichelle replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Fantastic photos. I sure hope you are feeling better now. I love how you laid the two pairs of jeans together like that. There is such an amazing difference and sometimes it is hard to tell. BTW you look super great in those jeans you have on in your last photo!! Really, wow congratulations! -
Hey everyone! Thought I would go ahead and start my first topic. I know we are to never compare our weight loss to others, but I just want to know and feel like I am on track with the norm. Tommorrow wil be my two weeks since surgery and I have lost 12lbs. Now I am so excited about this!! I have never before lost this much weight this fast. I feel however, that I should have lost more in the start up, get out of the gate phase. I see some at around the same weight as myself losing 10-15lbs. in the first week. What do you all think and how do your stats match up? Also I notice that like many of you the weight on the scale tends to stay the same or vary up and down on a pound for 4-6 days and then BLAM! it just drops 4lbs over night. Very weird, yet very exciting. That is what happened to me this morning. Staying on the plus side although its only been three weeks with the pre-op I have even lost inches, so glad I did this. BTW I love this site. I am on here almost everyday and really appreciate all the support offered.

Pork rinds... Good or bad snack????
Nichelle replied to Sunny123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OOOhhhh, I love pork rinds. My sister was actually munching on some earlier when I stopped by to see my neice. I can't wait to have some now that I know they aren't the worst for me. Still in mushie phase, blah. Great ideas btw with the meatloaf and dessert idea. You can add a little crunch to anything with some pork rinds, sweet. -
This sounds so amazing and easy. I am just now moving into mushies so can't wait till I can try this recipe. I have never been a big cook hence why I probably got this big is because I was a fast food eater, but this recipe seems so easy. Woohoo love the recipe forum. I may become a cook yet!

How the heck did I gain a pound?
Nichelle replied to Terrib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's crazy stuff right. I had my surgery May 3 and I was losing everyday until the last few days. I stepped on the scale and put on almost 2lbs. and am still waiting for it to come back off. I don't know what is happening because I am still in my liquids phase so pretty much only water, chicken broth, gatoraide, protein shakes, and jello. And I gained? I have no idea. I have the exact same fear and I'm the small percentage of people this is not going to work for! OMG I just can't hope to think like that, so scary. Hopefully things will change quickly for both of us. -
Congrats!!! I am on the same boat as you. I am 10 days out and just feel like I want to chew something. I heard not to chew gum because they chewing actually starts the digestion process in the stomach and builds up acid, therefore getting the more hungry feeling and growling sensation which I already have so. Just sticking it out and looking towards the future. I just know that this is the best thing I could have done for myself and I honeslty feel amazing. Best of luck to you, we are finally on the losers bench and it feels goooood!

Is travel 4 weeks after VSG realistic? (I'm pre-op & trying to plan)
Nichelle replied to mnbsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you should have any problems. Honestly, I understand that I have had a major surgery, but I have been able to go back to work one week after surgery. I feel great. I don't have a sit behind a desk job either. I am always up moving around. I think you will be more than fine. I do agree with the others that getting up and moving around the plane will be very helpful. I felt like I just had to move on the plane when I came back from San Diego because my legs just had that twitch in them. Good Luck and have fun! -
Onederland, Before and After, 7 Weeks out...WOW!!
Nichelle replied to DazyKrazie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh, you can tell! I see it in your face and your legs. You look good, congrats. I really loved what you wrote. I am just starting my journey and have been in a debate whether this was the best idea. I feel deprieved and have a lot of head hunger. Its just really great knowing someone else has felt the same way. Thanks -
Help!!! I'm 5 days post op and downing 12 oz of liquid in 20 minutes
Nichelle replied to forever35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I seem to have the same feelings. I can get down my liquid quite easily. All I ever remember reading is sip, sip, sip, but I don't have any problems getting a light liquid down. I just hope that my stomach is small and restrictive. I know I saw it in the x-ray or swallow and well it seemed small. Just nervous and waiting to get to mushies so I can start feeling some restriction. -
