Awesome! Congratulations! I definitely have to use your comeback "why didn't you tell me not to gain any more weight when I was fat? Surely I looked sick then?" My mom already told me I looked sick when I got down to 210. My goal for myself is 190. Keep rockin' that sleeve girl!

So glad you posted about your experience it has really shed more insight on what to expect. I go in on June 13th for the sleeve. And I'm terrified. I keep trying to talk myself out of surgery. How did you cope with watching everyone else eat around you i.e. while cooking meals for the family etc.?

    Update:
    Hairloss slowed down tremendously.
Wearing size 10, sometimes 12 clothing. Oh, and I can wear my shirts tucked in to my pants and not look like the michelin man!
Still not taking vitamins the way I should, but I'm doing better than I was.
Just about at goal weight, I like the way I look in my clothing.
Still hitting the glute machine in the gym. Now my booty is firming up but its still flat as hell. smh
my boobs have turned into prunes with raisins on the ends as nipples.
I finally weigh less than my husband. What an awesome feeling to not feel like I'm gonna smother him.
I started telling people that I do weight watchers. Its' easier for them to believe you when you tell them that because they compare the weight loss to Jennifer Hudson. When I was telling them before that I changed my eating habits, for some reason it was harder for them to comprehend. Try the weight watchers story, they'll leave you alone.

That's amazing! I'm thrilled to see how well you're doing. Congrats on being in onederland. And weight is just a number. If you look and feel good and comfortable in your own body, it shouldn't matter if you're not "where you're supposed to be" bmi-wise. Keep going at it, girl!

OMG I'm 1 week post op and reading you blog made me laugh when you said your ass and boobs left the building I had to hold my stomach and laugh as hard as my incisions would let me. Yes the Vitamins are very very important especially if you want to keep your own hair. Hit those vitamins and your hair will grow back. You might need some extra biotin to help ya along. Keep up the good work.

You're a fighter and a survivor. You have a great positive attitude so you've already won part of the battle. It's easy for someone who's not in your situation to say hang in there, but trust me, I'm struggling with things financially too and know how easy it is to just want to give up on everything. But as long as you stay positive and see the good in your situation, you'll be able to get through. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for continued health, body and mind.
    Keep pushing through!

Use the next 90 days to condition your mind and body to get used to the change that's about to take place. Start a mild exercise regimen. Begin taking vitamins if you don't already. Start eating with smaller utensils and smaller plates. Try not to eat and drink at the same time, and continue to scour through the posts on VST for any questions about this procedure and what life is like after being sleeved. Read the good and bad posts...It's a BIG life change and preparing for it before it comes will make the transition much easier for you.
Wishing you the best of luck!

I only told my husband and my older children. I also told my mother because well, she's my mother and I knew she wouldn't betray me by telling people about it.
I say keep it to yourself, but be prepared to answer questions like "how'd you lose the weight?" and "What's your secret to weight loss?". You're going to lose weight rapidly, so the drastic change always gets people's attention.
I find myself getting a little uncomfortable when asked these questions, so I give my usual answer of "Oh, I been drinking protein shakes and I cut back on my portions in addition to going to the gym". So far it's kept people at bey, but I do feel a little guilty at times because I have friends who want to know what kind of shakes I'm on and want to follow my food plan to the tee. smh

Oh and for the hair loss. When I had my band done 10 years ago, I found a great product that helped out A LOT. it is called NIOXIN. Bionutrient protectives treatment. For clenically enhanced hair, scalp treatment for Early Stages of Thin Looking Hair. Also hit Biotin 5K mg per day. Hopefully this will help.

I had to common 2nd day after surgery.. OMG " what have I done?" thought.
Your post was Very helpful to me becuase I can see where this would be something that I would go through. At this point...only 5 days post op- I have no idea what I can or can not eat once I start solids. I will say that I know I will miss bread because I heard it is harder to digest. I have to be on a three week clear liquids becuse of my revision and excessive scar tissue. The bad thing is that I feel like I could eat what ever I wanted right now. Holding back is difficult but very important to prevent leaks for me. This makes it hard. I already resent that I have more time on clear liquids than most people. I would love to start mushy foods in another week, not two. But I have to get in the mindset of the whold "Life Change" on eating habbits. I hope to start attending a support group soon, as I think this well help give me the encouragement that I need.
    Thanks for your post.

I guess that we all have unique and different experiences post op. I can say honestly that I did not go through a "resentment" phase. My issues were more of a mental acceptance of who I was looking at in the mirror (a different person) and dealing with that aspect, not so much what I could not consume because of being restricted.
I'm happy that you are doing better!

This is all good news to me. Postive comments, need to buy new clothes, not needing a bra that looks like a medival torture device. We are so programmed to NOT hearing nice comments about our bodies, disguising our shape that our recations are skewed.
Ladies, what you rant about are all normal thoughts and reactions. At a year plus out, everything you have said, I have said before. All of them. Things will normalize, but it will be a new normal. Do not be frightened by how "easy" weight loss has become. All things will stablize. Take this time to learn new habits. Learn to love the morphing you.
    Hugs.

Sweetybabs, for me it wasnt really about the pain. I had to come face-to-face with my problem of grazing. The sleeve does not allow me to just eat because I'm bored, or in a greedy mood. I was resenting the restriction aspect of it all, and threw a fit when I realized that there was no turning back. I'm doing much better now, and have come to grips with the fact that this is THE ONLY WAY i will be able to lose this weight. I'm still craving my favorite foods, but am finding consolation in the fact that I will be able to indulge in them (tho in very small quantities) in due time. The physical part of me is healing, and I"m still massaging the mental part of me to match my new sleeve.
Sheesh...3 nine pound babies huh? *bows down and fans SweetyBabs feet*
Recovery will be a breeze for you because you are probably one of the most positive people on this site, and a positive attitude will def get you thru with flying colors. All the best to you!

    Hey KB -
16 days to go ...and I know just what you mean by taking a break from VST. I had to get away from all of the "hearsay slammers" that just don't get it. Remember playing "pass it on" as children - we would sit in a circle and whisper something and it would go around the circle. By the time it got back to the beginning - the original message does not even resemble the final message.
That's what happens with gossip and spreading fear with hacker, idiotic emails about doctors who killed their patients blah blah blah. I was ready to never return to this site. But alas, I finally realized some people can't live unless they can rain on a sunny day.
I laughed when I read your treadmill story because a few years ago (8 or so...omg) I had a flutter that had to be checked. I ran for about 30 seconds and thought I was going to die. I started shooting PVCs or something like that and they stopped the test. Eventually the flutters went away - probably about the same time as they discovered I had sleep apnea...and set me up with a CPAP.
It's good to not overly think this journey. We go through the educational stage where we gather information, and then we go through the decision stage followed by the excitement stage and then we settle into being consumed by every piece of information we can get...and finally we move to the ...ok it's just another surgery - let's move on. I think that is why so many people get on VST a LOT before surgery...some after... and then don't respond as much because it is no longer a big deal as they have lost...and lost...and lost more weight.
I look forward to that last stage.

Too funny! I know how you feel, except my friend lost 130lbs after we stopped speaking for a few years & she married a pro body builder. I saw her & was like, "heffa!!". I said I was n't going to tell many of my friends & family, but I've been so excited, that I've blabbed it all over the place. Next year, is my 20th hs reunion. I can't wait to see those faces when I step in the place!! Next year, we'll chat & share our stories of how we gave them "fever" with our new bodies! All the best to you!!
