  1. I love crushed ice with lemon squeezed over it. I'm 2 wks post op and wonder if this is ok to eat. Nothing in my drs list about this.
  2. Yeah I heard this all the time too. Even the nurse taking me back to get ready for the surgery said that. Now that I've lost the weight those same people are the very ones say "OMG you look so good! You don't even look like the same person!" LOL

    Pills

One week out of surgery my dr gave me a big,ole honking antibiotic pill for a uti. He said it was ok to take it but I could literally feel it in my stomach but it didn't hurt, just felt really strange.
  4. My motto is "if you can button it, you can wear it!" lol
  5. I am almost 2 years post op and I have 3-4 cups of coffee a day with no ill effects.
  6. I think it would depend on if you were wanting to lose or wanting to maintain. Eat less calories than you burn, you lose weight, but if you are trying to maintain your weight you might need to eat some of them back to keep from losing.
  7. I'm almost 2 years out and some days I can only eat tiny little bits all day and others I can eat what is normal. I don't know why that is but its ok with me.

    JUST CURIOUS

I'm like you, I told and still tell anyone that will listen. lol I am so thankful that an aquaintance, not a close friend, that had this done told me the truth when I ask how she was losing the weight. I started looking into the surgery and decided it was right for me. Up until then I had not really heard of it much less knew anyone that had it. Since my surgery 2 years ago one of my best friends, and 2 cousins have had it done and two other co workers are trying to get approved. Every one has to do what they feel is right for them, but for me telling someone who may feel as desperate as I did is what feels right.

Words that should be banned from VST

I agree! And naming it or calling it a sleeve, it's still your stomach just much smaller. lol
  10. I had my surgery done almost 2 years ago in West Monroe with Dr. Zizi and it was 12,900.

    Bizarre trend?

I totally agree! My fave is " I've only lost 10,20,40 pounds or whatever in 4 weeks, whats wrong with me......really cause I don't think you gained 50-150 pounds in 4 weeks so why expect to lose it that quickly. You certainly don't lose that much quicker that you gain. We all just want a magic bullet that's going to make us skinny.

    Bizarre trend?

I'm wondering if after having the surgery some people are realizing that it's not easy like they thought it would be. I will admit I use to think that if I could just have WLS I would magically get thin and my whole life would be different and better and I would never be fat again. LOL Well that ain't so! You still have to work at it, thin doesn't change everything in your life but your size and you certainly can gain weight again. It's just a thought.

15 days post op and freezing!

I'm 22 mo post op and I'm still freezing. It started immediately post op so I think something about the surgery and not really the weight loss is to blame but cant't know for sure. I do know however I am freezing all the time! lol

    CRAZY QUESTION!

Same here, I am a cardiovascular sonographer for the last 30 years and know just enough to be dangerous. LOL My uneducated guess is that a nerve is getting pressure that doesn't usually get touched, just my guess though. lol

    CRAZY QUESTION!

Nope, no allergies here. It only happens when I eat a bite or two too much.

    CRAZY QUESTION!

My nose also runs when I get a little too full but not constantly. I'm 22 months post op and it has done this from the beginning.

    Soooo much regret

This is a pretty common feeling. You see a lot of these posts immediately post op but very, very few if any from people a few months out. I told my dr. the next day that I couldn't believe I had done this to myself just to lose weight. I was hurting and mourning the loss of eating but I'm almost 2 years out and would do it again in a heartbeat! My highest weight was 248, 239 on day of surgery and I've been maintaining between 165 and 170 for a year now. I feel normal and can certainly drink just like before. Just hang in there and give it some time.
  18. I have asked this myself many times. I don't think there is a difference except for the carbonation which my dr allows after I think it was 3 mo. I'm almost 2 years out and I have coke zero or dr pepper 10 almost every day and have noticed no difference in sleeve restriction or cravings, but that is just my experience.

    Nsaids after surgery!

I'm an ultrasound technologist so I have a lot of neck and shoulder pain and my dr. ok'ed me to take ibuprofen but you are not far out from surgery so I would definitely wait and see what the dr says.
  20. I don't think the chocolate and sprite would taste very good but I'm almost 2 yrs post op and I've had diet coke or dr. pepper 10 about once a day since about 5 or 6 months out. My restriction hasn't changed at all. I know that's not what you asked but just to let you know. My surgeon also said after the incision is healed carbonation is ok, it won't stretch anything, you just burp the bubbles out.
  21. I never crushed or broke mine in half either. Started taking them whole the day after surgery. Some meds also should not be crushed or broken.

    Herbalife?

p.s. I'm almost 2 years out and I still drink them from time to time for breakfast or a snack.

    Herbalife?

I LOVE them! This is the only kind I've enjoyed. I add sugar free pudding mix and whatever else depending on the flavor I want to make. Some on here count carbs and they say they have too many. I only count protein and calories. These are seriously delicious shakes. My 19 yr old son even asks me to make them for him as a treat.

    Carbs in Quest bars

I've never counted carbs at all.

    Drinking bigger sips..

It will. I am almost 2 yr post op and I can drink like normal.
