  1. So I am in the early stages of my journey for lap-band surgery. I have my 1st surgeon appointment June 30. I have had problems with irregular heartbeat most of my life. The doctors say it is caused from a block accessory pathway, basically my heart does not fire right. I haven't had many problems because of this, but I am concerned how surgery will effect me. Also, if I am stressed or fatigued, the irregularity increases. Anyone else out there have the same thing that has already been banded? Tell me what your experience has been. Thanks
  2. I also take a beta blockers which controls me very well. There is no way I can go without it. When I have bad flare ups, my heart rate gets into the mid 200's, and will not regulate without medical intervention. I have scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist to get clearance. It has not been a requirement of the surgeon yet, but I am sure it will come up. Good luck!!

    BCBS of NC

I have BCBS of NC. Is there anyone that has gone through the process with BCBSNC? I am curious about the required 6 month nutrition classes I keep reading about. I have spoken to a BCBS rep on the phone numerous times and they have never mentioned this to me. I have searched the website, read their requirements concerning lap band surgery, and it never indicated a 6 month waiting period. I would love to be able to have my surgery before Dec 1st. I have already met my yearly deductible and the surgery will be covered at 100%. Yearly deductible starts over Dec 1st and it is a high one. I will be attending the seminar June 7.

    BCBS of NC

I spoke to BCBS-NC today and the rep assured me there was not a requirement for 3-6 month nutritional classes/counseling. We will see what happens when I get to that point.
  9. Very anxious, excited, and flooded with questions.

  10. I was wanting to know if there are any post op banders that have or had sleep apnea and if resolved or improved after weight loss? I have had sleep apnea for several years. I had the UP3 procedure in 2004 for sleep apnea. It helped for about 6 months, now I think my apnea is even worse. I dream of one day not having to sleep with tubes and face masks. One of my motivating factors in pursuing lap band is my sleep apnea going away. I am in the early stages of researching lap banding and I have my seminar in a couple of weeks. Would love to hear your experiences.
