  1. I just got a call and they are moving my surgery date up to June 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from the 28th. I'm kind of, well, totally freaking out now!!!! That is 6 days away!!!!

    Feeling dizzy and weak

Prayers and good thoughts your way!! You CAN do this!!!!
  3. Thanks y'all. I really think this is for the best. Had I waited to June 28th I would of driven myself insane worrying. I'm starting my new job August 2nd so this gives me more time to recover before I start chasing around Kindergarteners. I'm a teaching assitant. My daughter will turn 8 on June 23rd and she got pretty emotional when I told her I was having surgery sooner. She is worried I won't feel good for her party. I reassured her that most likely I will feel good and even showed her a couple of minitues a youtube vid (Dana VSGandme2011) and she felt better after seeing that.

I'm from South Mississippi...but a die hard Saints fan since birth ;) I'm having my surgery in Louisiana. Dr Redmann in Slidell is my surgeon. Awesome on your date!! It will be here soon. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. The pre-op diet is something I'm not looking forward to! Best wishes :D

  5. My date is June 28th!!!!!!! I'm soo happy!!!! (a teeny bit scared)

    Calling all June sleevers

I'm scheduled for June 28th with Dr. Redmann in Louisiana. I just got my date today.
  9. I'm facing a similar dilema. I have 5 kids ages 17, 14, 13, 7 & 3. My husband will be able to take a few days off work after surgery. I honestly KNOW that the 3 year old and 7 year old will give me trouble. They see a sick mama think its time to take advantage of the situation. My 14 & 13 y/o's are great help, but I think its alot of responsibilty to put on them to watch the 2 little ones. I really could use a nanny LOL. If I were you I'd plan on staying as long as you can. I'm sure there are weight restrictions your doctor will advise you on. Everyone is different. I've met someone that had the surgery and in 2 weeks was back to a physically demanding job. Raising toddlers would qualify Good luck with your surgery
  10. Thank you everyone. I really feel like all of this is surreal. I'm now obsessively researching post op sleevers and how to get through the first couple of weeks. That is my biggest fear. I'm afraid of chronic nausea and low energy level. My plan is drinking lots of fluids right out of the gate to avoid dehydration. Right now I'm facing lots of big life changes and I hope I'm strong enough to handle them all. They are all good, but it is alot of changes in a short period of time. I know if I don't do anything else, this surgery WILL be the best thing for me and my family. And to all you veteran sleevers...be prepared to be bombarded with lots of questions from this newbie! Take care everyone

    will I ever get sleeved????

I feel the same way. I've researched it for 2 years...I finally have the money to pay for it...and I still don't have my date. Hopefully within the next 3 weeks I'll have it.
  12. I posted a similar post in pre-op then I got to thinking I should ask you post-opers. I have a job interview Thursday...State Job..great benefits...I really need this job. Do I tell them during the interview I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks? I could probably have surgery as early as the latter part of next week. Should I wait until I get a job offer then tell them I must have a medically necessary surgery? Due to the problems I'm having with diabetes it kind of is. This is a desk job, no heavy lifting, so how much time would I need to be off work? I'm guessing two weeks? Thanks in advance for you advice.
  13. Thanks guys! I'll keep this info to myself. No sense in jeapordizing my chances, especially in this economy.
  14. Well another miracle has occured. I got called for a job interview for Thursday. My surgery will be within 2 weeks (approximately). IF I'm offered the job should I say anything about surgery? I hate to start a new job needing time off work right off the bat, BUT I sooooooooooooooooo need this job AND the surgery. I hate to mislead anyone...this is tough!!!! Any advice on how to handle the situation.
  15. I am a self pay and we were going to borrow against some CD's we have to get my loan for surgery. Unfortunately our credit isn't that great (husband is self employed and has taken a hit financialy) and in order to get the loan it will tie up ALL of our equity. Having 5 kids the thought of doing that makes me sick. We never know what predicament is going to pop up and I can't see putting ourself in a dire financial situation to pay for the surgery. Currently I'm looking for a job (with NO luck). I really just want to cry. I've even gone as far as signing surgery consents and am just waiting to get my date. We had no idea the situation was this bad. I guess we could cash in the CD's and pay for the surgery, but there goes our safety net if I do. I'm just needing to vent..and if you are still reading this thanks for listening
  16. Thank you JG407! How are you doing?? I hope your recovery is going well. Please update us!
  17. We are able to access funds we had forgotten we had!!! AND a generous family member is helping as well! I just thank God it looks like its a real possiblity! Thanks for praying for me. Hopefully I'll be a June Jewel As of right now my monthly medicine is costing over $300 a month...paying this surgery off is half that..and I'll be on my way to being healthy!!
  18. I think a miracle just happened!!!! We may of found a way to do this. I'm so happy I could cry!!! We will find out Tuesday......
  19. Sorry you are having a rough time. Hopefully you will improve soon!! Are you getting anti-nausea meds?
  20. I hope everything went well!!
  21. JG407~I just noticed your ticker says you are having surgery tomorrow?? Congrats! Please update me when you can. Sending good thoughts your way
  22. Thank you all for your responses. I'm just so overwhelmed. My surgery is $13,600. I've been thinking about how odd it was I've basically put our finacial business out there like this lol, but I just want this surgery so bad. I'm crossing my fingers I get called for an interview. I've submitted my resume and I PRAY I get it. The hours would be great for my kids and I'd have insurance. Pity party is done! I'm staying positive and keep telling myself it will work out. Where there is a will there is a way!
  23. I'm happy to hear things went well. Maybe your doc could prescribe anti-nausea med to take with your pain medicine? I hope to be telling my post op story in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the update
