    Down some pounds

Hey everyone! It has been awhile since I have posted anything here, but I have been a busy guy. I have taken myself, in the past month from 270 down to 252lbs. I have been training nearly daily and on a lower calorie diet, that is TOTALLY doable. I feel great! Most days I feel like I am not sleeping enough. Mostly my own fault, but last night my body told me SLEEP - so much so that I fell asleep by 9pm LOL. I am taking my multivitamin and Omega 3s and have even reduced my diabetes meds already. Looking more forward to my surgery on May 7th, everyday! Just wanted to share my weight loss success. My BMI has gone from 43 to 40 - just loving it and what is to come post Sleeve! :biggrin0:

    The new me???

It is quite interesting. I look in the mirror now and try to picture myself thinner...after a year post op, and I wonder if I will look at it then and wonder what I looked like fat. I hope all goes well for you on this trip DeeDee. You look great now, do not let anyone tell you different =) Hugs if ya need them!

May 7th Couldn't Come Fast Enough

I got my date yesterday from the surgical nurse who sets up the surgery dates. I just couldn't wait anymore, so I called to see if he could roughly tell me when he thinks I will be informed (not expecting to hear anything until March)...to my surprise...he told me May 7th quick enough? I said Oh Ya!! That would be GREAT! So, I go to the USA on vacation in April, come back April 30th and one week later, BAM! I am so excited, and now obsessing all over again HAHA! :w00t:
  5. Hey there, I am so so glad to hear you made it through all of it ok. I take Somac 20 mgs...curious if it will be crushable. I need to ask. HEY, I got my DATE...finally. LOL...I am so impatient. My Sleeve is on May 7th. About a week after I get back from my visit to the USA. Otherwise I am down in weight and eating a lot less and reducing introducing myself to various new foods hehe.

All T's crossed and i's dotted

This is awesome news! I am so glad that it is happening so fast!
  7. Hey Allforone...The only person I know that had pain in their arm afterward was Barbara...she had a blood clot. If you suspect that, you should get it checked just in case. Welcome home and good luck with everything else. Rob

Waiting for it to be real

Thanks DeeDee and Erika. It is hard to wait. I am like a kid at Christmas running through the house trying to find my presents early and peek. Good luck on a date, Erika, sooner the better =)

Waiting for it to be real

I have found myself being a bit restless in waiting for my date to be set by my surgical team. Because my surgery is in May, I don't even know if they will set it up before March. I find that I am almost running up the maillady and saying, DID IT COME??? LOL! I dunno, just thinking that I would feel it would be more "REAL" if I had the letter in hand with a set date. I am doing well losing weight, slow but sure and it is staying off. I feel good about my decision and am glad to see so many satisfied "sleevers". Some day in the near future, my time too will come. :001_tt2:

    Confession time-horrible with food intake

Sounds like you have been bit by the hibernation bug. I truly believe that is why people gain so much in the winter. You, from what I have read, have done extremely well. Gather yourself and refocus...well sounds like you are doing just that. Deep breath and get back up. Remember "mama said there would be days like this" =)
  11. Thanks for the share. I will check it out when I am out there.

    Reducing My Meds

I had my first appointment with my doctor since this whole process has started. He was excited to here that I was contacted and have already been through the pre-op exam and education. I told him that with a decrease in calories and increase in exercise I have begun to have several blood sugar crashes and lows. He told me to reduce my Minidiab by 5mgs so that means one less pill on the days intake hehe. I was very glad about this. It was my evening dose I took away, and this morning my blood sugar was 6,4 which is about 117 on the American scale. I am happy with it, because I had a bowl of pea soup before I laid down last night. YAY! I eat often and in little meals....trying to teach my body to accept the smaller meals early on, and it seems that metabolism likes it to. More pre-op weight loss to come. :001_tt2:

    New date

Keep the faith...You CAN do this!!!
  14. Hey there, was wondering what the protein powder you found was called? I will be visiting the USA in April and I thought about buying some supplies there so it isn't so costly. Here one protein drink(bottle) costs like 5 dollars. I think they said I could get 3 "meals" out of it.

    I'm gagging over here!

Mini-me, You are in my prayers. I hope you find something that you can stomach and that you feel better soon. Rob

Starting the two weeks prior to Surgery

This is awesome to hear and to see someone else getting the mental and physical preparation in swing. I am also working on pre-op habits and am going to buy get some protein samples this week. Can I ask you the name of the protein mix you found?? I would like to see if they have it here in Norway. I have tried to eat in 30 mins and found it easier than I thought. It is hard, however, to see the family up and leave the table before me hehe. I have been sick with the stomach flu this past weekend and realized as I was sipping broth, and slowly nursing a queezy stomach, that it may be exactly how I feel the first week after surgery...interesting =)

    6 Month Surgiversary!!!

Oh DeeDee, Hearing your story is soooo comforting. Just when I begin to start wondering about this (I will have it either way) I hear someone talk about their journey and I LOVE IT!!! I want to again say thanks and ROCK OFF that extra pound, girl!! GO GOAL GO!!

It's been a few weeks, and it's a done deal!

Barbara, So good to hear you are on the mend. I am sure the mushies will taste a bit like heaven. My mother's side (mom, grandman, aunts) all have diabetes, and me and my brother too. I am sure everyone goes through the same thoughts you have. I am sure I will too. =) Prayers for a blod clot free bod and healthy LONG future. Rob
  23. I am curious if there is anyone else out there with Type II Diabetes that can answer this question. Does the Diabetes disappear after the surgery? I have heard it works well with the DS surgery, but I have heard nothing about the sleeve. Please, if you have answers ... share =) Thanks, Rob

    Diabetes and The Sleeve

Ohhh Brenda, I am SO NOT looking forward to crushed metaformin. I hate the taste when I am taking it whole LOL! Otherwise I am sure that the yogurt is the culprit in your increased b/s...it has always played a role in mine, so I eat it less often. Keep on keepin on, once the weight is off I am sure your DM will go completely away =)

    Diabetes and The Sleeve

Thanks for the response MrNickSr...I am currently on Metaformin 2xsdaily, Minidiab(glipizide) now reduced to 1xdaily, and Actos 2xsdaily. Those are just my diabetes meds, not included are blood pressure, an acid reducer, and cholesterol meds LOL. Your words are incouraging. Thanks again! Rob
